The ending wasn't handled with anything but clumsiness. The story wasn't about revenge, turning into demons, or a fall from grace like the trailers advertised.
Big Boss had little to no emotion regarding revenge.
Spoiler I can at least appreciate what they tried to do. Poor execution of a good idea doesn't mean it wasn't a potentially good idea.

Spoiler So anyway the parasites work by covering the host entirely, acting as a second skin that gives them superpowers. Quiet has these parasites. Occasionally, when she's shifting between visible and invisible, you can see raw muscle and sinew that gets covered in skin. Remember how she was burned at the start of the game? Do the math. She'd best thank her lucky shit she has those parasites keeping her sexy since she certainly wouldn't look like that without them.
