Big Boss's story > Solid Snake's story

Anything prior to Metal Gear Solid in the continuity.

Sometimes I sort of forget that Big Boss' story takes place in the same continuity as Metal Gear and beyond. It's odd to suddenly remember that it's all basically a flashback and that the rest of the games in the timeline will happen later, given the difference in tone.

Excellent observation.

SPeaking of which, what's MGSV's theme? There's gene, meme, scene, sense, and... what?

Words and language.

kojima said it's a four letter word that ends with "e"

It's rake. Calling it now.

D-Dog must have nanomachine-enhanced legs. How else could he take a fall like that?

I don't know what a butterface is

but she's not hot, i can tell you that

her tits aren't even nice, tbh, the boob physics are all wrong.

plus, no ass.

Holly for best MG female

So like

Does she love him or something?

Yes. Big Boss is apparently super sexy. Paz, Ocelot, the Boss, Strangelove, Eva, Quiet, Cecile and Amanda have all admitted to him being ruggedly sexy.

Which he is but whatever.

Strangelove is Boss-sexual. She'd be all over the ugliest man (or woman) on Earth if he/she currently held the title of Boss.

Okay I'm gonna say this and it might sound unpopular honestly.

Anyone else feel the Metal Gear story as a whole fell apart ever since Kojima had to explain everything in 4? As in, it wasn't as good?

Yes. The series was much better when it was you up against genuinely supernatural threats.

At least psychics and ghosts (and apparently demons) are still real in the series. I assume that's only because Kojima couldn't think of a way to incorporate nanomachines into whatever explanation he dreamed up, though.

Quick question. Is Ocelot in MGS5 "Liquid Ocelot" in MGS4?

I've only played MGS5 and watched some videos of MGS4.

Yep, but he was possessed by Liquid Snake's ghost nanomachine-hypnosis-personality in the fourth game.

I wonder why nobody tried perfecting the parasites and improving them. The Skulls were the scariest, most badass army in Metal Gear, so it makes little sense why nobody thought of reproducing them. They're better than the FROGs, at any rate.

4210
Buck was more badass when he wasn't a Spartan. Average dudes that can keep up with superhumans are the best.

weird

Two of the most skilled soldiers on Earth, one of whom was sent to kill the other, head back to base and proceed to act like five-year-olds.

Thanks Kojima.

The quarantine mission would have been much more impactful if you didn't have the worst monster in the series calling you out for it. Even worse because you're supposed to agree with him.

Spoiler
That level was better than the prologue chapter, IMO

it's the highlight of the game

Spoiler
The level itself was great. Huey's commentary serves no purpose other than to taunt Snake and make Huey an even shittier character.

I'm not sure how I feel about Volgin surviving Operation Snake Eater, it seems like a huge stretch that he survived just out of his desire for revenge. But then Volgin's pretty cool in both games, so it's cool to see him again

Spoiler
I thought Mantis was controlling his corpse. Was he actually alive?

If anything the whole face-heel turn theme applies to Huey instead of Big Boss. And we didn't even see it happen.

We don't hate him like we do Vamp, who's just a shit character and monster.

That's exactly why I hate him, though. He has a laundry list of atrocities in TPP alone, and we're supposed to agree with his worst. And he basically gets away with all of it for vague and shitty reasons.

And this is a complete 180 from his characterization in Peace Walker. What a complete waste of a character.

Yes, but not for Otacon. As soon as he finds somebody to love, the universe conspires to tear them away from him.

Does she love him or something?

Where the fuck does she go between now and MG 1?
At the stage of the game I'm at, it seems pretty clear she at least has a close bond to him.
Ocelot says she's in love with the Legend. Since he was like that once too.

But Idk if it's admiration or love.

Both, according to her final tape.

who
mgsv's living blow-up doll

She actually has a reasonably well-crafted story.

...that's impossible to take seriously due to the fact that she's wearing a bikini top and nylons. (That and MGS5's generally abysmal storytelling.)

it was Ocelot that killed Miller. Not just some random assassin like the novel stated.

If Eli and Mantis had the last vial of parasites, why didn't they use it in Metal Gear Solid? Like, when he started losing to David when they fought atop REX, why didn't Eli just pull it out and toss it into David's face?

Spoiler
Because Eli used the last vial of parasites to clear an island of it's inhabitants so he could create the "Kingdom of the Flies" with the help of the child soldiers and Sahelanthropus.

Spoiler
Oh, okay. Though, I'd have preferred to see Liquid suddenly decide 'fuck it' and kill Snake by chucking a glass tube at him.

Spoiler
Side note, were you a little let down about Eli's characterisation? I fully expected Big Boss to start talking shit because he got fed up with his attitude. Not once did BB tell Liquid that he was worse than his brother, like Liquid said in MGS1.

Spoiler
We only had Liquid's word that Big Boss said that, so there was always the chance that he either remembered incorrectly or just flat-out lied for whatever reason. Perhaps he irrationally decided that the negative DNA test equated to Boss telling him he was the inferior twin?

Jason Momoa doesn't look too pleased about it, either.

Aquaman is hardcore. Nobody fucks with him.
