I don't post anything personal or significant about myself on the internet, so it's understandable that you wouldn't see me as a friend. I wouldn't consider anyone that I don't know anything about a friend either.

I wouldn't dislike you just because you disagree with me though.

I don't see the point in needing to remember people's names anyway.

We're all faceless words on a screen, bouncing ideas around. I've always said that the main draw to this site is the arguments you have with people. I just happen to like a few people along the way.
I come from Bungleboards, which is far more tight knit than this website of Flood fallouts.

So maybe that's why.

I, too, come from smaller, closer boards (most of which don't exist anymore, but...). It's sometimes jarring to see insults being flung around here when nothing like that would happen on a board with fewer members.

'Truddy Duddy'

n..no

That should be your name once Verby is finished using his.
But I never change my name

That's what you think.

Also, is Eliab Venom Snake?

I can't keep up with these damn name changes. Every few days I pop back in here, you guys change your names around.
He's Tru

No wait, sorry Verb, Fuddy Duddy is Tru and True Turquoise is Liquid who is also TBlocks

I was originally me but then Eliavenomstoric killed me, but I came back after Truddy Duddy cut off TBlocks' hand and he replaced it with one of mine but my ghost took over his mind (and Ender's ghost possessed his other hand).

Except it all turned out to be the work of parasitic nanomachines.

I found it interesting. And all of it is true, too.

I know. It just seems like you're reaching for something that isn't there. Which you can do with any character.

"Volgin lived a hard life. His father died when he was very young, and the burden of the then-crippled Philosopher's was bearing down on him. Already an outsider amongst his peers, due to his supernatural abilities, this isolation was enough to break him into the most sadistic and irredeemable villain in the series, even going so far as to launch a nuclear warhead on his own people to make a point."

See what I mean.

Everything sounds more exciting on paper than when it's actually seen.

I would say that you should give a fuck because things tend to be more than just the one thing they appear to be when you first see them.
Have you told yourself this? Have you considered that characters you might like and appreciate might actually have something really shitty about them that you probably shouldn't overlook?
Yeah, it's called a flaw. Practically everything has them.

You can find appeal in more than just in her looks, which were indeed meant to appeal to hormonal males, but that in no way restricts you from finding something else appealing.
That's not what I'm saying. I just think it's stupid to ignore the negatives. You accuse me of ignoring the positives--I'm accusing you of ignoring the negatives.
I'm not saying ignore the negatives, I'm saying move on from the negatives. Accept them, they aren't going anywhere and getting upset over it isn't going to do anything for you. You dislike them, good, that's perfectly fine. But what isn't is obsessing them. You can dislike part of a thing and still like the whole of that thing.

I really don't care for Quiet's get up, I think it's just idiotic, but I accept the reasoning for it and that it is the way it is. However, this is not a game about dress-up, it's about stealth and combat, and that's something Quiet excels at as a character. She's a soldier, while it would be nice if her default outfit was something not showy but practical, I can move past that glaring flaw to focus on what she does as a soldier and character.

Quote
Well, I don't own the game yet, guy. So I really can't comment on anything else but what I can see and hear, can I?
Are we no longer talking about hypothetical perfect character with sexualized get up?
finally, a somewhat reasonable post

No, I don't "accept" flaws. That's not who I am. I point them out, and... that's it. I don't have to accept anything.

You point them out and dwell on them until nobody feels like discussing them anymore.

No offense.

Liquid was raised from birth to be a killer, got told his entire life that he was the inferior of Big Boss' sons (or perhaps came to the conclusion himself based on no real evidence), got tortured for what's implied to be years in the Middle East, believed he was created to destroy because his genes said so without even attempting to live for anything else, and held an irrational hatred for a brother he hadn't even met before. It's clear he was not at all stable, and snapping at the slightest gesture was entirely understandable given the circumstances.

I really hate it when you make a sub-par story more grandiose with a paragraph of "interesting events".

You did it with Gray Fox, too.

I found it interesting. And all of it is true, too.

Quote
The novelisation says that Eli hated his father and the pat on the back gesture pissed him off because he didn't want Big Boss to like him -- he wanted him to know how much he hated his father.

Didn't know that. In-game it just looks like he's pissed since, y'know, Big Boss just kicked the hell out of him and took him away from the kingdom he built.

On top everything I listed above.

As for Liquid, his entire appearance in MGSV was a complete let down.

I was expecting Big Boss, at the time of his meeting with Eli for the first time, to already be on the path of a demon. Eli is a promising young soldier with a distaste for adults, but he always looked up to his "father", Big Boss.

Big Boss ultimately kicks his ass, multiple times, and tells him "You inferior POS, I'm sure your brother wouldn't disappoint me like this, with his dominant genes." or something like that, hence his hatred for Solid and Boss.

The only scene in the game I liked was when he was patted on the back after arriving at Motherbase. "Welcome to Outer Heaven." *pat* *shakes in anger, steals Snake's knife and tries to stab him*

Cool scene but they make Liquid wholly unlikable in an entirely different landscape from his first debut. This isn't 1998 where a British accent and cool sounding words like "recessive" and "inferior" make for an interesting story.

Valhalla is the best version of Blood Gulch.

I always suck on Valhalla, so I strongly disagree.

Anyone else have specific maps that you play better/worse on than others?

Some people think Solid and Liquid both have blond hair.
What?

Some people are of the opinion that both Solid and Liquid have naturally blond hair.

The mission briefings in MGS1 support it.

Solid Snake:

MGS1 retconned a lot of the MG canon, so this doesn't surprise me.

Solid was originally supposed to be blonde, but was changed to brunette somewhere in development for reasons I can't recall.

Canonically, he is and always was brunette.

Quiet doesn't fall into the category you mentioned
uh

yeah

she does

she's an oversexualized piece of misogynistic pandering shit
She has a character, she's not just something to stare at like you seem to want her to be.

That'd be true if she had a better story, or if her skimpiness was actually deconstructed like Kojima claimed it would be.

Liquid really was an extremely popular character back in 1998. While he seems shallow now, keep in mind Metal Gear Solid was a story-based game released at a time when 'blast all the bad guys' was the zenith of plot in video games.

(Gotta get that zenith in there one more time.)
I suppose so, but he's had so many games to fix it. Hell, he did so with Gas Snake, though his charisma wasn't nearly as high so he's seen as the worse of the two (when in fact his character is WAY better). I'd like to see them do more with Solidus, considering he is THE clone that was supposed to be Big Boss the most. And if they remade him in HD, he'd look like the one we all know and love.

I could never see Solidus as a good bad guy. Liquid seemed genuinely threatening, but Solidus seemed like a wannabe villain who never quite made the role. He was pushed to be the biggest bad guy but never really felt like it.

Which is ironic considering Liquid is the poster boy for wannabes.

Though, I guess Solidus' irrelevance in the grand scheme of things was intentional considering absolutely every little detail in MGS2 was intentional.

Also, the fact Mantis is a ginger means he has no soul.

It all makes sense.

Spoiler
Personally, I'd have preferred it if he was more normal and slowly got fucked up over time. Not always a gas mask wielding fuck. Naomi even says as much in the original, in that he dove too deep in the mind of a serial killer.

Spoiler
I personally like that we never find out anything about him. That isn't really his role in the game anyway - he's just there to drive things forward and nothing more. Diabolus ex machina, if you will.

Let's talk about how much of a cuck Eli is.

And how he never grew out of that.
I would have liked it if it hadn't turned out that Eli was always a cunt-muffin.
"FAAAATHUH. I AM YOUR SON FAAAATHUH."

I hate Liquid Snake so god damn much. What a shallow fucking character who's glory is only in his line of "BROTHERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR"

I think Kojima overestimates how great he really is, because it seems he tries to push it in every single game.

So Eli's hair got bleached when he was a POW in the Middle East. He's about 13 or so in MGS5...so when the fuck was he captured? Was he prepubescent when he joined the SAS?

I do have a problem with Quiet's attire though - not necessarily that she's barely clothed, but because supposed to be a trained soldier yet she's wearing nylons and a bikini top.

I mean if it were Grand Theft Auto or something it'd be understandable, but nobody is going to be wearing that in the middle of a warzone.

She's just a shitty character

She had a lot of interesting story ideas that were executed poorly.

But then, that describes the majority of The Phantom Pain's plot.
