I just played a game of Halo 3 last week where half my team quit and the only other guy on my team kept charging in and getting killed. All four of the other team were of a higher skill than both of us.

But I still went 20 to 4 and carried us to victory via running out the clock. Battle Rifle, bitch.

and turned Halsey from a conflicted "this is for the greater good" to generic mad scientist.

The only change is that we don't see SPARTAN-II from her perspective anymore, and thus aren't meant to sympathize with her or overlook the fact that she's responsible for the kidnapping, indoctrination, and deaths of at least 75 children. Sure, she sees herself as doing it for the greater good, but everyone else sees her as a mad scientist.
Now I'm just saying, but 75 children as the price to pay to save the universe is laughably nothing.

Maybe it's the 40k in me where 75 million deaths is chump change, but that's not really that horrific going by the body counts courtesy of the covenant.
His point wasn't the number of kids she killed in the process. His point was that Halsey looked like a mad scientist to others, and rightfully so.
Kidnapping, indoctrinating and experimenting on kids isthe kind of thing a mad scientist would do.

Yeah, we knew her intentions were good and all, because we've had her viewpoint on the SPARTAN-IIs, but Kilo-Five isn't from her viewpoint.

Don't get me wrong, Traviss a shit, but the whole Halsey thing is actually fine.

Exactly. Thanks, Citrus.

Although, as my other posts indicate, I really do dislike how most of the Halo fandom is quick to pass the whole project off as a needs-of-the-many thing. It worked out in the end, certainly, but that doesn't make it any more morally white than it is.

If there is it is my intention to kill every other version of me. There can be only one.

In at least one universe, you're Big Boss.

Good luck, hombre.

Well, if there's an infinite number of universes with an infinite number of possibilities, some sort of event or weapon that would wipe out all universes would have been used in at least one of those universes, therefore either

A) there are only a finite number of universes with a finite number of possibilities thereby reducing the odds of Liquid Boss existing from 100% to some infinitesimally small number, or

B) there are an infinite number of universes and the above event has already happened and we're fucked anyway.

So I'd say my odds are still pretty good.

It was pure coincidence that SPARTAN-II wound up winning the war against the Covenant. Literally nobody could have predicted an alien attack before the project was executed.

And even though it did end up saving humanity that doesn't change the fact that 75 children were torn from their families and put to work as experimental soldiers, if they weren't killed outright.
There were already millions dead from the Insurrection, bruh.

And?
There were already millions dead and millions more dying was seemingly inevitable. 75 children being abducted as child soldiers to stop millions more deaths was worth it in the situation.

Just because it was justified doesn't mean it was forgivable.
You can't forgive something that was just, huh?

I'll amend that to necessary. Nothing was just about it.

So I'm playing MGS1 and still trying to full understand the plot.

The government sent Snake in with FOXDIE to kill everyone.
Liquid used Snake to activate Metal Gear, did he know that Snake was there all along, fully aware of the FOXDIE?

Yes to both. Liquid assumed he would be as resistant to FOXDIE as Solid, but he was wrong (even though he was genetically superior).
Wasn't it outright stated that they ended up being genetically different enough for the FOXDIE to affect Liquid differently than Solid?

Can't recall. I just want to know what part of Solid's genes made him so resistant to the stuff while Liquid and Big Boss weren't.
