Yeah, I'm sure that's the mindset people have when choosing jobs. Not, "I need to make money to survive." That's the mindset you have when you need a job. I'm talking about a career. That's what you dedicate your life toward. I'm not fond of maintenance, but then, I'm not going to spend my life doing it. If you hate your career then you chose the wrong one. There's nothing else to be said. Besides, my overarching point is that you grow to hate any job you have. Work is fucking work, it's not meant to be enjoyable. And yet it can be if you choose a career you enjoy. Architects choose to be architects because they enjoy it. Same with doctors, teachers, reporters. If all you get out of your occupation is money then you won't have that occupation very long. Edit: okay, probably not the police. But still.

Of course you're not going to enjoy working if you have anhedonia. You're not going to enjoy doing anything if you have anhedonia. These people are the exception to the rule; most of us loathe work and would rather be doing something else.
Why would you choose a career you loathe? That's stupid. "I know I'm going to hate coming in here and doing this activity eight hours a day, but I'm going to apply anyway!" What the hell kind of thinking is that?

I know a geology professor who studied rocks long before she chose to major in teaching geology. She gets paid to do what she'd do on her own time. That's what work should be; if you aren't going to enjoy your career then don't choose that career.
