Bugs is actually the sixth Chaos God, but nobody knows about him because even the other gods only speak of him in hushed whispers and sobriquets.

This really depends on whether it's Pre-Crisis or Post-Crisis Ratchet.

343 is fucking stupid

Chief should not only be a good head taller than Locke, he should've knocked him out cold with the first punch
If they weren't wearing helmets I'm sure he would've, but the fact remains that I can take a baseball bat to the head and remain conscious while wearing a much less advanced helmet.
A baseball bat also cannot lift five tons

An adamantium bat could.
There is a distinct difference between being able to lift a weight and being able to support a weight

...An adamantium bat could.

Squiggly stick figures are the best I can do with pencil and paper. Drawing with a mouse looks like fucking magic to me.

Take note that the inside of his helmet is on fire.

Jesus I do not want to be shot at by plasma.

On the plus side, the nerves on your head would burn off before you could feel anything, and your brain would boil basically instantly so you'd be dead without any real suffering.

Probably.

I'm trying to save them from future disappointment; when they realise how hollow their ambitions and plans really were.

You're never going to realize how ridiculous this sounds.

It's not ridiculous at all; it's an unfortunate truth of reality that you'll realise when it's all too late.

Stop trying to rub your misery off onto me.

This can be uttered at any point in any conversation and make exactly the same amount of sense every time.

Yeah, I'm sure that's the mindset people have when choosing jobs. Not, "I need to make money to survive."

That's the mindset you have when you need a job. I'm talking about a career. That's what you dedicate your life toward. I'm not fond of maintenance, but then, I'm not going to spend my life doing it.

If you hate your career then you chose the wrong one. There's nothing else to be said.

Quote
Besides, my overarching point is that you grow to hate any job you have. Work is fucking work, it's not meant to be enjoyable.

And yet it can be if you choose a career you enjoy. Architects choose to be architects because they enjoy it. Same with doctors, teachers, reporters. If all you get out of your occupation is money then you won't have that occupation very long.

Edit: okay, probably not the police. But still.

The Flood / Re: I don't see myself being an office drone...
« on: March 02, 2016, 10:20:19 PM »
if you aren't going to enjoy your career then don't choose that career.

You say this like it's possible for everyone to enjoy what they'll do; it isn't. Those of us who suffer from anhedonia or something similar are left in the dust.

Of course you're not going to enjoy working if you have anhedonia. You're not going to enjoy doing anything if you have anhedonia.

Quote
These people are the exception to the rule; most of us loathe work and would rather be doing something else.

Why would you choose a career you loathe? That's stupid. "I know I'm going to hate coming in here and doing this activity eight hours a day, but I'm going to apply anyway!" What the hell kind of thinking is that?

Learn to separate pleasure from profession. The two don't and shouldn't mix.

That's right. The secret to a happy life is to do what you love -- on your own time.

I know a geology professor who studied rocks long before she chose to major in teaching geology. She gets paid to do what she'd do on her own time. That's what work should be; if you aren't going to enjoy your career then don't choose that career.
