The Flood / Re: So jojo is actually pretty spectacular« on: November 26, 2016, 07:13:08 PM »No, they guessed that because not everyone in the turtle was aging the same way.So now that I've almost finished Bento Oreo Giorno just happened to know that women have a slightly lower body temperature than men because they have less body fat, and Mista and Buccialati were drinking cold drinks so they also had lower temperatures, and connected those bits of useless trivia to the Stand they were fighting. Which isn't much more believable than guessing King Crimson's power. Quote But there's no conceivable way to figure out "his stand erases time but also not really" while also fighting him. The best they could do is what Metallica did and figure out that Epitaph gives him premonition. Giorno guessed KC's ability when he found himself at the top of a staircase without remembering himself climbing it. So I guess it's not every Stand user, just Giorno the genius. 1414

So anyway Jotaro's catchphrase is "gimme a break". Star Platinum's Stand power is stopping time. It literally gives him a break.
Real cute Araki. 1417

Gotta say I'm not really enjoying Stone Ocean so far.
Then again I binged JoJo from the start up until chapter 650, so I think I'm JoJo'd out for now. 1418

And yet you'd still be a moron for getting your panties in a knot over somebody who's trying to embrace your culture and not insult it. Quote There are cultural symbols that have meaning behind them--to appropriate something like that without grasping the meaning behind it would be a mockery Or just ignorance. Quote and you'd be a shithead for even attempting to be a part of it. Then you're the kind of moron I'm referring to. 1421
The Flood / Re: cultural appropriation« on: November 24, 2016, 12:56:59 PM »I would think most people would be delighted to see others emulate their culture. Then you're adorably naive. Or, y'know, somebody who is genuinely interested in that culture and wants to see what it's like. It's pretty obvious when somebody is trying to mock a culture and when they're merely curious about it. And only a moron would get their panties in a knot over that. 1422

The Joker doesn't care who's under the mask (in fact he literally can't see Bruce Wayne -- only Batman), Ra's Al Ghul respects him too much to bother, Catwoman and Talia Al Ghul won't out him for obvious reasons, and the Court of Owls wouldn't gain anything from it. 1424

It's Dark Souls, but instead of souls and the undead there's blood and 18th century Europeans.

The Flood / Re: Not impressed by JJBA« on: November 21, 2016, 01:10:29 PM »Not gonna lie, all the crazy Stands are the only thing JoJo really has going for it. Araki's pulling bullshit out his ass left and right, but it's awesome bullshit, so I can deal. What kind of bullshit are you talking about? Well, Araki never expected to get past Stardust Crusaders, so DiU and after were basically made up as he went. That's why Yoshikage Kira and Diavolo don't appear until halfway through their respective parts. The plot, threadbare as it is, is only really there to railroad the protagonists from one Stand battle to the next. Instead of the conflict driving the plot, the plot drives the conflict. So instead of writing a complex story with deep character interaction and development, Araki just says to himself, "wouldn't it be cool if they fought dinosaurs/tiny soldiers/invisible zombies/a pedophile ape that controls a boat/a radio tower?" Yes it would, but that's bullshit. Awesome bullshit, but still bullshit. But I believe it. 1439

I wish the series hadn't devolved into nothing but Stands though. Parts 1 and 2 read like a completely different story. |
