I just want to point out that lucid dreams =/= sleep paralysis. Its sort of in the same way that there's a clear difference between nightmares and dreams. Lucid dreaming can be forcibly induced and you generally have control over them which is why they can be pleasant. Within SP on the other hand, like a traditional nightmare, you have no control of what's going on hence why they're generally terrifying. I've read quite a few supposed "techniques" on how to transition SP into LD but they all seem to be malarkey. What I've gathered from my own SP episodes it is your subconscious taking full control and its almost impossible to simply even wake yourself up.

The type of lucid dreaming I like experiencing is definitely sleep paralysis induced (and not just because in REM phase muscle atonia effectively stops motor functions). I can't move and it's very much like being buried alive, at least that's what I first thought of the experience. But then I monkeyed around with it and it produces a very vivid and auto-generated type of lucid experience.
