I think you're massively underselling the extent of conversation and discussion among intelligent people, and overselling the power of a movie to influence the way people think.
I don't know how it goes in the UK but here in America, that couldn't be more untrue.
We have a pretty politicised education system here.
Most teachers are unionised, openly critical of the current Conservative government, my history teacher is pretty anti-UKIP and my politics teacher has a big problem with Israel and Republicans.
But, nobody really cares. It's not supposed to be politicised, but teachers are people too and everybody I know seems willing enough to look past the obvious left-wing bias among teachers here.
I've never had a teacher that talked about politics before and I think over here people don't see opposing viewpoints very often. I'm sure this movie will be extremely influential on students, so that's why I'm not into this idea.

But rape IS torture, can involve both kidnapping and slavery and it is most certainly a form of abuse...
I fail to see your point. Yeah, murder is worse than rape. But that doesn't make rape okay... None of the above things are okay.

Comparing suffering is silly. Each is subjective to the victim. A random guy that has grown up in an abusive environment might get tortured and get over it with a little ease however a girl raised in an conservative environment and conditioned to think that her virginity is sacred could get raped and will think it's the end of the world.
All of those things would be way worse to the little girl.

What I want you to take away from the video is that he very clearly is a strong contender for the White House. This is all I wanted to know. I'm not sure if you have me confused with another member but I've never said anything in favor or against Cruz because I don't know much about him. I'm just saying that the guy in the video managed to lose me within the first couple minutes. I'll keep watching though.
