I think it's a little ridiculous that there were only 57 votes, can't even be considered a majority

Well sufficient time was given for people to vote. So we'll just work with what we've got.
But given the fact that there's, what, like 700 or more registered accounts on here? I understand that a large majority of those are probably alts and people who just made an account and don't post, but still. Personally I would take into consideration that a lot of people probably didn't vote because of something to do with the holiday season.

We average around ~100-115 active users - people are who routinely on and posting. So, we've got around half of that.
I just don't check anything besides flood, gaming, and serious that often.

If you're referring to your SR. It's based off of time played in the game for the Beta.
No he was showing the kda stats and w/l with the picture.  The guy that's negative is gold and Sprungli is silver, even with better stats.

The Flood / Re: New Year Resolutions You Should Follow But Won't

New Years Resolutions are pointless, because they almost all fail.

Set New Year Goals.
I'm not even sure if you're being purposely stupid here.

Not really. Just take a common one: "In the New Year, I want to lose weight"

Well, guess what - after the first month, people get discouraged because they lose very little. Instead, make goals: "By the end of February, I want to lose 15 pounds"

It's much more manageable.

The first one is just a vague goal.  The second one is more defined.  Without a plan of action though, they are both likely to fail.

People don't plan to fail, people fail to plan.  That's why they never meet their goals.

I'm a little concerned about the people saying she should always have it on her. Do people really live in a constant state of fear that requires you to be armed at all times?
It's because it's the responsible thing to do, if this story and thinking wasn't enough.  Anti gun people moan about gun owners losing their guns and letting them fall into the wrong hands, but then try to act as if carrying it all times is the worst way to prevent that.  Could a toddler have unholstered her gun off her hip and shot her?  What if a mugger runs up and steals her purse?  What good is her gun then?  The sole intent of carrying a gun is for self defense and not having it on you means you can be pretty easily seperated from it.  Plus in an emergency having to dig through your purse is stupid.  Imagine police officers carrying their hand guns in back packs.  Just think of how silly that would be.

It was good I liked Django Unchained more.  Probably because of the violence.

It's what she gets for carrying not on her person.  It just goes to show how stupid purse carrying is when a 2 year old steals your own gun and kills you with it.

Without sprinting in the beta you can survive, but your offensive capabilities are drastically handicapped.
That's a problem I noticed.  It seems easier for people who die to respawn and run back to a previous engagement area.  On truth for example, if there were 2-3 people at tower 3 and I'm in a base and kill someone, they can sprint and boost off their spawn quickly to flank me or reinforce that group if I pushed up.  Which would be valid tactic but I feel it has to do with an imbalance between spawn distance and map mobility.  A lop sided engagement can last long enough for someone to keep respawn and right away run back to a fight they lost.

Many other games have shields, Halo is far from an exception.

More games don't have it than those that do.  Your same logic of evolving, conforming, and adapting could be applied to those games as well.  Eventually there'd only be a few games with them and then it'd be "oh this game is so ancient, it has shields!  CHANGE OR DIE!"
Can you name 5 AAA FPS games that came out that included shields plus health in 2014?

Quote
I'm forced to play Halo with those that are uninitiated, I have a lot of family and friends that either have no knowledge of Halo or extremely little knowledge. And those people struggle in H1-3, constantly moaning how there is no sprint, and about how much "better" every other FPS is because it includes it. That's the average gamer right now, that's 9/10 people, immediately when I reluctantly put H4 on instead suddenly i'm hearing things like "this game is amazing", purely because they can now sprint. And using Waypoint as an example is astonishingly stupid, they represent the 1%, and the site itself just wipes away any credibility.. You are using two Halo communities as an example, so the responses will naturally be biased towards hating sprint, and what i'm saying is that the majority of gamers see sprint as something essential in a modern FPS.

I don't see how using waypoint, a place to voice opinions about halo to a community and developers, is any less intelligent as anecdotal evidence than you using "friends and family" and saying they encompass 9/10 gamers opinions.  If people want to move faster, 343 should just remove the animation and include a reusuable speed boost in place of sprint.  That way, people can still shoot as they chase as opposed to lowering their guns and it could be used for strafing.

Yeah it was a pain in the ass to talk talk to my friends and finally get a open NAT.  Now when I'm in a party it will randomly disconnect us, but leave us in the party.  Every so often I check and one of our mic symbols will disappear.  To fix it, someone has to start a new party and invite the other person.  It went from happening every 3 H5GB games to 2-3 times a game last night.  I don'r remember party chat being this broken on the 360.

If I had to guess it's for competitive reasons, such as having certain areas play well when well lit, but having hard to see spots with rain or night shadows.

On a scale of Halo 4 to Halo 2, how is Halo 5's gameplay?
Halo 2.75

Only way you could compare it to H4 would be sprint's existence (which is a must really)
Why?
Why is it a must?

Because Halo must have it, not necessarily because it's worse with no sprint-it isn't.  Every other FPS has sprint,
Copying what's popular is a petty reason to add a feature.
With that same logic, why not remove shields too since every other modern game doesn't have shields? People expect games to have no shields, sprint, clamber, ADS, kill cams, and the screen to flash blood red when shot.

Quote
it has gotten to the point where sprint is as core a control aspect as using the triggers to shoot is,

That doesn't really make sense as an analogy, comparing the need for a popular mechanic with a button on a controller doing what it was designed to do.

Quote
the MCC is living proof that the lack of sprint just feels very outdated-even without any knowledge it would be immediate despite no major graphical difference that H2A is a far older game than H4.
Out of all the complaint threads on waypoint I haven't seen one complaining about any of the halo's playing slow.  I've heard people on here and my myself voice Halo 3 feels slower than it should, but that's because Bungie lowered the field of view, decreased movement acceleration, and made it slower; something that could have been fixed in a newer release.  Can you show me a poll or something besides personal opinion that people think H2A feels older than Halo 4?

Quote
Point is it must retain sprint in order to stay relevant, the series must adapt.
I'd rather Halo be a trend setter than trying to follow in the foot steps of every generic modern shooter.  I've never heard any say "Man, I really wanted to by this game, but it didn't have sprint!  Can you believe that?  The game might as well be 20 years old.  Forget everything else it offers.

Quote
Perhaps in 10 years not having sprint will be the norm, and I expect that if that happens 343 will drop sprint because it's not something expected of a modern game.
So it's essentially a gimmick and 343 suffers from keeping up with Joneses.
Play a few games of the beta without sprinting and see what you think of it.

Gaming / Re: 3Fail3 Haters will never be satisfied will they?

That's because people abuse what ever they have available.  If thruster wasn't available people would just throw frags at their feet and run.  It's also under the assumption they'll run into an enemy get killed but more often than not they run back to some friends who clean up the chaser who has low shields from the fight trying to finish a kill.  It slows the game down.

The root problem is, sprint takes you out of combat and you have to use it too keep up with someone using it.
