I was just correcting you because you didn't know the definition of the word "lore". That's it. You can dislike mods all you like, I couldn't care less.
And I'm telling you, that I DO know what it means.

I'm just expanding the definition to suit my purposes, because I don't know what the fuck else word to use that'll get my point across succinctly.

Literally no one I've discussed this with--NOT ONE PERSON--has been so hung up over my usage of the word "lore".

Fix yourself.

"I've been proven wrong so I'll just reply "with hurr i dont care""
But I literally don't care what "legality" has to say about it.

At.

All.

It doesn't mean anything.

No. Entertainment is a job because it is legally classed as such
I don't care.

I'm just telling you to look up the word "lore" in a dictionary so you can inform yourself.

You do know that 99% of people work because they want/need money. Not because they enjoy it or want to help people....
Yes, I am aware that 99% of people are selfish pieces of shit.

A job doesn't have to involve curing diseases, designing new technology or just packing shopping items into a bag.
Why? Because the idiot on Sep7agon says so?

No. I obviously disagree.

Your logic is, "it's a job because it's a job."

You're the least intelligent user on this website, by far.

The "entertainment industry" is a fucking sham.

That's exactly what a job is you pleb.
No.

You have to actually contribute something to society. "Entertainment" doesn't count. I can't build a house with entertainment. I can't cure cancer with entertainment. I can't even bag someone's fucking groceries with entertainment. Entertainment is about as useful as masturbation. That is to say, barely at all.

I've actually made LPs in the past, and have worked with a team of guys who would play games for charity. We disbanded because no one really watched our videos. It wasn't hard by any means; the only hard part was getting us all rounded up at once so we could stream.

I have no problem with YouTubers being successful and making money off of their content. I just don't like it being referred to as a "job". To me, it inflates the word a little bit. I don't think "doing something for money" is a good enough definition of "job".

I don't think anyone's angry they just don't understand your reasoning.
It's pretty simple to understand, though. People just want to play word games. "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT LORE MEANS."

who the fuck cares what lore means

my point is that it disrupts the natural flow of the game because you're bringing something inherently UNNATURAL to the table

What is this fucked up mentality where somebody has to win when it comes to personal opinions?
If you fail to convince me your cause, then... there you go. You failed. In other words, you lose.

You are losing. Badly.

You can dislike mods all you want. It's stupid to do so, but nobody cares.
It's stupid to play games properly as they were intended? K.

And clearly nobody cares. That's why I have three people on my ass about it right now.

And I just said, even if I don't, it's irrelevant. It doesn't magically make me like mods, then, does it? No. It doesn't. It makes me fucking loathe them even more because there's a giant, butthurt community of people who get SO ANGRY if you dare to say anything like, "Mods are dumb and I don't use them."

Anyone can make a YouTube video. A monkey could make a YouTube video. It's not hard. It's not work.

You tell a physician, a doctor, a lawyer how truly difficult it is to shit out a shitty YouTube LP video for the masses and see if any of them take you seriously.

And you have to understand, I'm talking strictly about let's players and shit right now. Like PewDiePie.

The lore shit is just semantics anyway. If I conceded that minutiae like graphics and gameplay are not a part of the lore, I'd just find a different term to describe those aspects and use THAT as a reason to hate mods.

There is no version of this where you come out on top.

They make money by entertaining people, so it's a job.
A lot of time and effort goes into being a content creator on YouTube. It's not just a video they made in 5 minutes that they whack online.
Tell that to a physician.

A mod that simply makes the vegetation more plentiful isn't breaking the lore.
Not to me. I don't give a flying feathered fuck how you feel about it.

It's making the game looking a lot more life like which it would even in the lore.

Lore is the story and the Universe, not how a game looks or plays.
Not to me, as I have explained.
So would you count a mod made by a developer of the game? Say for example a mod made by a developer of Fallout: New Vegas, that alters the games hardcore mode, and places the preorder bonus items around the world instead of being placed in the players inventory, among other things.
That's... sorta fair game. If a developer made a mod that added non sequitur objects like My Little Ponies in there, I wouldn't hold that in much regard.

So how is modding a game like Skyrim to have new weapons, armors, areas, towns, cities, quests and adding a harder difficultly to it unnecessary? That stuff adds reply value to the game and it also fixes or adds things to the game Bethesda shouldn't have removed or changed. For Battlefield 1942 there's a 1918 mod which changes the game from a WW2 game to a WW1 game. With KoTOR 2 there's a restoration mod which adds in the content that was cut from the game. Some of the content that got cut is important to the story like the HK-50 factory. So no, mods are not stupid or unnecessary when they either add replay value to a game or they fix things. The only mods that are stupid or unnecessary would be something like nude mods.
No. You don't wanna argue mods with me. You'll go insane. I'll reply just this once, and you probably won't even want to respond.

People talk about mods that are "lore-friendly". No, I don't think there exists such things. As far as I'm concerned, every last detail of the game in its vanilla state is "the lore", down to the lame textures, the invisible walls, the glitches, and even the backwards-flying dragons that were prevalent in Skyrim's PS3 port pre-patch. They're part of the fabric of the game's universe. To me, the only people who have any authority when it comes to their game is the developer's themselves. It doesn't matter if your mod is "lore friendly"--it wasn't a part of the game initially, so it breaks the lore by default, just by existing. If it didn't exist previously, it doesn't exist in the lore, and therefore, it shouldn't be there.

How can I justify backwards flying dragons? Easily. I just tell myself, "WELP. I guess that's just how dragons fly in this universe. I've seen weirder things." If the developers patch it up, that's fine, too. It's basically a retcon. It's the gods of the universe changing things within their universe. Nothing wrong with that.

"But what about mods that are developer supported?" Until the mod ascends to a real part of the game via a patch or official DLC, it doesn't matter. My Little Pony will never have a place in Skyrim until the leading developers say, "Yes, MLP is now part of the Skyrim canon."

"What about mods that enhance the game's graphics?" Breaks the lore. The graphics weren't that good initially, so they should remain that way until the developers decide to implement it. Which they won't.

"Why do you want the game to be worse just for the sake of lore?" Because I don't believe in this thing I like to call 'pissing on the Mona Lisa'. You may think her skin ought to be more yellow, but that doesn't give you the artistic right to do so. Not to me, anyway. I also don't believe in having the players essentially doing the developer's work for them. I think that's really fucked up.

I don't care if you use mods. Much. I still think it's an insult to the game you're playing to use mods, and if you're playing a modded game, you have no right to say things like, "I'm playing Skyrim right now." No, you're not. You're playing a hack of Skyrim. It may be more fun for you, but it's still a hack, and that's all it ever be.

As for me, I'll just continue to play games... you know. Properly. Correctly.
