It's more a concern of how the games are advertised than anything. Skyrim was hyped up as this huge-ass, "do anything, your actions are important, quests are infinite" game and we get "You can only climb that mountain through following a designated path or taking advantage of terrain-planing, choice of dialogue with no effect, quests are only infinite because a number of quests just start over when you complete them."
And NV being insanely branching is an over-exaggeration. You pick up to two sides (primary, secondary) out of four, giving you one of twelve (eight possibilities for picking two, four for picking one primary) epilogue slide-screens. It's not that difficult, Dragon Age: Origins had it for all of your companions. Ah. I think this ended up being a criticism for Mass Effect, too, right? Where they give you the illusion of choice, but it ends up not affecting the plot at all, or something like that. That's lame. That's why Infamous, the first one, is my favorite game that has that choice/karma thing going on. There were only a handful of major events that took place that would massively effect (no pun intended) your karma, but they felt real, nonetheless. To me. And your choices in those few scenarios actually did affect the story quite substantially (which is probably why there's so few). In terms how the game is as advertised as opposed to how it is when you play it, yeah... Advertising has always been sleazy.

That's what real life is for.
Not some small internet forum. The Internet is real life. This isn't some virtual world where you talk to fictional characters. We're real people, with thoughts, opinions, feelings, and emotions. That should mean something to you.

A picture is worth a thousand words. They can be worth millions if you take the Internet seriously.

I can find images that express my point, too. Doesn't really do anything, though.

I don't even understand how you guys began arguing. He's one of these cretins who thinks the Internet shouldn't be "serious business". I'm saying that it fucking well should. That way, we can get things done. No matter how small or inconsequential.

The sense of superiority you think you have gives you absolutely no leverage. You do realize this, right? Whatever that has to do with anything.

Procreation.
Which would be a cop-out answer if it wasn't said by someone like me.
AKA Carrying Capacity of the Earth overloads.
Well, that, on top of the whole humanity has dug itself into a hole so deep, it can't possibly dig itself out of it without the pain and suffering of billions of sentient creatures...

You're wasting time attempting to argue with us floodians who are apparently below you serious-goers. Exactly, but at least I'm taking a peek into your psyche. Which is something. better than HUHUHUHU! PUH...PIZZA!

Well fuck right off back to the serious board then where you belong. Why didn't you just say that initially? That's all you really have to say.

why is your oh-so-sophisticated sense of humor worthy of pride? Because I'm able to recognize when I'm just wasting time. If I'm gonna waste time, I want to waste it over something that I could possibly achieve some sort of... I don't know, interesting perspectives on. Teach me about this new radical philosophy you learned about in class, or argue with me about why Dark Souls isn't a bad game. Something where I can actually learn something with a modicum of value. or just make stupid jokes

Discussion, yeah, but a bit of lighthearted fun doesn't hurt, does it? We don't GET a "bit" of it. It comprises 90% of The Flood's content. Like Meta Cognition said, this is why Serious is just the superior board.

why are you proud of your stick? Because it prevents me from being entertained by humor fit for small children. Well... Middle schoolers. Most children probably don't know what porn is. I'd hope.

Well that's pretty fucking stupid. I'm not here to entertain you with your idea of a joke. You shouldn't be here to entertain period. That's my point. It can certainly be an ulterior motive, but the main function of a forum ought to be... substantive discussion.

This is a joke. Well, intended to be a joke. Until all of you fucks came out of the woodwork. Any thread that contains no content except for a shitty, childish joke is classified as a "shitpost". Arbitrarily by me. When I say "joke", I'm talking about a post within a thread. Or a thread that contains substantial content with some witty humor therein.

I remember why I rarely leave Serious, now.
You serious-goers need to pull those sticks out of your arses, seriously. Lighten up.
you flood-goers need to find a new idiom because the stick-up-the-ass one is deader than the dead horse that you keep beating with the stick that's up our ass frankly, at this point, the stick up my ass is just an inherent, infungible part of my personality

well, i always know it's gonna be something stupid, so
so the answer is clearly that you come here for the pleasure of torturing yourself you kinky son of a bitch
it's actually an OCD thing whenever i see the orange "new" thing next to a topic, i have to click on it doesn't matter if it's irrelevant to me

The only way to win is to expect everything to suck (or, at least, expect not to get blown away). That way, maximum enjoyment can be achieved, because you lowered your expectations to that extent. But not too low, so that you blind yourself.
You'll also never get dehydrated again, because there will be a deluge of fanboy tears for you. That's my favorite part!
I haven't been hyped for a game since Brawl, which ended up being god-awful. Everything else I've played since then, even if I hate the game, I'm still able to find enjoyment in there somewhere. And it just feels good not ever being disappointed. Ever!

That's bullshit. We're social creatures. You may not be comfortable at first but it's good for you and you'll have fun. Trust me. i can attest to the exact opposite sometimes social situations are pure agony for five straight hours imagine being the only sober person at a party that you were personally invited to by the host so fun
