Of course. OP didn't say omnipotent, though; just omniscient. I think that's kind of important.

I mean... I play fighting games, so literally none of this shit applies.

I guess, generally, I like speed.

I knew the twist going in, and it didn't affect my enjoyment at all.

WELL... I can't SAY that. But I mean... I'm just saying, I don't really put twists on a pedestal like everyone else does. The film stands just fine on its own feet without the twist, and it's one of those rare twists that makes subsequent viewings even better, because now you're perceptive of all the foreshadowing and neat shit like that.

I'm predominantly against organized religion, so I'd vote for a Republic.
But I mean... he's benevolent AND all-knowing.

It's not like he/she/it necessarily has this vague tome filled with weak parables and allegories up for interpretation, resulting in a lot of petty arguing and squabbling between earthly folk who can't figure out what god is or what he's trying to accomplish. We have his predisposition laid out in front of us, conclusively. There'd be a god--he's good--and he knows everything.

Yeah, yeah, "good is subjective", whatever. To me, it's pretty obvious what benevolent would mean if you're someone who is omniscient. As long as the god isn't omnipotent, I don't see any real disadvantage, even if it is a religion. The only reason I'm against organized religion right now is because all of the gods we have dreamt up of fucking suck, and there's no way to even prove that they exist (mostly because they don't).

But I mean, I refer to my initial response... I don't really see any disadvantage if we're conclusively told, "Yeah, there's this benevolent god character who's gonna show you the way". I mean, shit, sign me up.

I don't even think you could even call that a religion, much less a theocracy, as Meta pointed out.

Also, read the book. I actually prefer the film, but I mean, Palahniuk is such an underrated author who needs to be shown support. He's making a Fight Club sequel in the form of a graphic novel, apparently. I'm a little sketchy on the idea, myself, but eh, we'll see what comes of it.

If you look even deeper (but still not that deep), Tyler was pretty much asking for the rule to be broken anyway. The idea is that he wanted to build an army, essentially. He knows how humans work--you tell them to do something, they don't fucking listen. They do the opposite. Tell them not to talk about Fight Club--they do it anyway. Now we have this information spread, and a whole bunch of these new losers signing up every day. "I see a lot of new faces tonight. That means a lot of you have been breaking the first two rules." Notice how there's no real punishment for that. It's pretty much what he wanted all along. As for why he thought this reverse psychological method of doing this was more efficient, that's up for interpretation. In my opinion, it was Tyler's way of giving them "free will", or at least, his way of tricking them into thinking they had any. It's an army created not by force, or by indoctrination, but by the viral concept taking a life of its own.

Not to mention, it teaches the average castrated, consumerist white male how to break rules.

The secrecy only helps to the extent that he only needs an army big enough to carry out his iconoclastic tasks, and without the secrecy, it would cause a lot of commotion in the real world, which would be ultimately detrimental to Tyler's ideals.

So no, Tyler doesn't actually give a shit--it's all the better that the first two rules are broken. To him, the more space monkeys, the bigger Project Mayhem can potentially become, and the more mayhem he can eventually cause. They're rules designed to be broken. And yeah, like Aria said, if you didn't... know that? I'm afraid you missed the point entirely.

My favorite movie of all time.

If you seriously follow the first rule of Fight Club, you weren't paying attention. The rule isn't for secrecy, it's a plan of action. Don't talk, do.

There isn't a point of choosing to have fun (or meaning for that matter) at all. There are no 'points' within and throughout the multi universe. Points are merely temporary, flawed measurements. Everything is a macrocosm reflecting inner machinations.
I strongly disapprove of the ways in which you "choose" to spend your time and have "fun".

It's not even that. I just think it's redundant and pointless, considering it's just here, but with pornography.

If they're willing to talk at all, I think it would be best if they smoothed things out in private, but at the same time, the drama monster within me HUNGERS I'd like to see them work things out in public as well... because I like both of them and it just kinda upsets me to see two transfolk at odds with each other, when they ought to be in alliance. It would warm the cockles of my heart.

But no, I think they should just be adults and talk it over in private. This ain't Jerry Springer.
Spoiler
I mean, could you imagine if we had tried to solve any of our spats in public? <_<
I'm getting headaches just thinking about it...

Nice necrobump.
Wasn't me, asshole.

What would be the logic of necrobumping something just to tell you to lock it.
Someone ELSE necrobumped it, hence my lock request. So it doesn't just crop up again.

Fundamentally they are different.

Atheist: God does not Exist
that's a gnostic atheist--someone who makes the objective assertion and pretends as if they KNOW god exists or doesn't exist

if you're an agnostic atheist, which comprises the majority of atheists, you say, "i don't believe in god, but i don't know for sure"

very few (intelligent) atheists claim to "know" that there's no god
my perspective is--no one knows for sure, so everyone is an agnostic.

gnosticism is idiocy

also, i request a lock
