The Japanese were historically pretty shit at art, though. Well, maybe not shit, but they didn't hold a candle to the masterpieces that composed European art.

So, Infinity Ward are at fault for not including a racing game into CoD in case people that only like racing games play Advanced Warfare? ...Kinda, yeah. I mean, "fault" is kind of a shitty to use for that, but I mean, I think you know what I'm getting at. They're taking a risk, as all companies sort of have to do. The risk diminishes as soon as the franchise stays afloat and there's a loyal fanbase who is willing to purchase every game in the series, but it's still sort of there.
If I made something, and someone didn't like it, I'd kind of feel guilty, because I didn't make it enjoyable enough. Especially if I wasted their time and money.
Well, you have a point, but you have to look at it like: If they've made a product for one group and that group loves it, they shouldn't worry about the people they didn't make the product for. I see what you're getting at, but unfortunately, it's unefficient and a waste of resources to try to appeal to everyone. Destiny is a good example of that. They don't even have a fanbase, they have drones that don't know any better, because by trying to appeal to people, they've dragged in the lower form of what can be called "consumers".
