You can use hyperbole and roundabout ways of speaking, but using the wrong words entirely is another thing.
Haven't you ever been in any work orientation or school function where some of the basic rules are "respect your co-workers/fellow students"? That is what I mean. It's synonymous with "courtesy".
I think it's a bit of a stretch to say they have completely different meanings.
No I haven't, because the wording used here is "Treat them with respect", you don't need to actually respect them, just act like you do in the case that you don't so to form a less confliting work environment. A forum is a wildly different place from a work environment, in fact it's more like a pub.

I like the occasional anime, but this forum's obsession is... simply weird. I draw the line at Dragon Ball and Naruto.
I can't even elaborate on it, really... I mean, I love Metal Gear, more so than these people like anime, but it's not weird, y'know? So what is it about anime that makes it less, uhm, "cool" than other things?
It's probably the masculinity associated with MG and also the fact that anime seems to have all female characters, or at least, main characters.
I enjoy them the same way I enjoy any other show, really. There's really good action packed ones like Gurren Lagann and Garo.
I noticed that JoJo has a very similar art style of DBZ, which intrigued me. But I haven't looked into Gurren Lagann or Garo, unfortunately.
