Princess mononoke>Howl's moving castle>Spirited away
I don't care for most of them. I do like Sky Crawlers though. Although I don't know if it's made by the same people. That shit's depressing as fuck. I also like how it was based around an alternate timeline rather some mystical, magical, creepy ass alternate universe.

You should read up on what Spirited Away is really about
I already know what it is about. Child brothels and things of that sort. I read up on it. It's depressing. I like my version better.

I recently told many of my family members what I thought of the classic anime film, Spirited Away. While they may not believe what I said, it sounds completely reasonable and they will probably think of what I said every time they see the film, which will probably ruin the experience for them. What I told them is that in the beginning, when Chihiro's father is speeding through the forest in his car, and he stops unreasonably quickly and just in time right before hitting a large stone statue, that this is not what really happened. Earlier on in the movie, you see Chihiro laying in the back seat of the car without her seat belt on. Later on when they are speeding through the forest and they stop, they do so in such a way that would no way happen in reality. He was going at least 35+MPH and stops in less than 20 ft without any skidding. What I said is that they didn't stop in time and hit the stone statue, Chihiro flew out of the windshield, knocking her unconscious and critically injuring her as a result. She survives, but it hospitalized in a coma.

Now understand, that this sounds like a very generic creepy-pasta like sounding theory, but hear me out. Now when Chihiro's parents turn into pigs, this is her in her coma, forgetting what her parents look like. All the deformed humanoid beings in the bath house are representative of her forgetting what people look like as she stays in her coma for longer and longer. She even starts to forget her name as her fantasy and child-like world take stronger hold over her mind. I know there may be holes in this theory, but I didn't come up with it to be consistent, but rather to mess with my family. The ending also kind of debunks this theory, but every time you watch the movie, keep in mind what I have said and realize how rational it sounds.

This.

Spoiler

If I ever have enough money I would love to buy a gun like this.
You are referring to the Barret M107. S sexy beast of a gun that costs as much as a new car with ammo that is just about as expensive as shooting silver bullets, depending on your local ammo costs.

You can't sell guns that you make. You can make one for yourself, but selling them is illegal.

News / Re: Apply to be a Monitor
« on: November 17, 2014, 11:35:07 PM »
Seniority above all. I am old enough. 48 years old to be specific. I can't say much on my behalf. I consider my judgement as sound, and that's all I can really say. I would like to be a monitor, but that's not up to me to decide. I'm sure there are better choices out there, but I'm tossing in my ballot, and am half-hoping to become a fancy pants monitor.

Revolvers are lame.
M911
While they are great guns, 1911s are expensive as fuck and have outdated magazine capacity.

If I had to buy a new gun, a revolver would be the last on the list because it can't exactly be fixed up like normal handguns.
Revolvers are great guns. For an individual looking for a weapon for home defense, they could keep a revolver loaded for as long as they want, if they kept a magazine loaded in a semi-automatic handgun, it would wear out the spring over time.
That's a given, and not very relevant to this thread.

You're thinking too logically.
I didn't know that was possible. This is the first time I've heard something so ridiculous.

You toss it.

Or you do something  incredibly fucking stupid like re-manning the barrel to a slightly bigger round...
Wouldn't that cost more than buying a new one?
Not if you do it yourself.
That would take a lot o know-how and a lot of ver specific tools. It would be very expensive either way, and not practical in the long run unless you were planning to do it to several revolvers.
You're thinking about doing this the right way. That's not what I suggested.
You didn't say anything about doing it the wrong way. What you said conveyed that re-manning the barrel in general was a stupid idea.

Revolvers weren't designed to be fixed up, they were designed to be used until they break, then replaced.

El cheapo.
exactly, it's a cheap gun built to be surplus, and sold for nickels back in the day.

Revolvers are expensive.
They're expensive NOW, but the original intent of the Revolver was to be a cheap, quick draw alternative to a rifle, and thus they were never really built with replaceable parts because they were throw away firearms in the times that they were made.
But why can't the barrels be replaced nowadays? Is there any reason to keep the same concept even when they're more expensive now?
I don't know. Some models may very well have replaceable barrels, but I don't know of any. You'd have to do your own research.

What are you supposed to do when the rifling in the barrel wears out? The barrel is fixed, so there's no replacing it as far as I've heard. I was never much into revolvers, so I never learned a lot about them. Can anyone answer this for me?
