The Flood / Re: Private groups are being deleted from bungie.net.
« on: December 02, 2023, 01:18:06 PM »
Tardo is still there eh?  It always feels a bit weird seeing names from the past.  Like the old mod team guys.  I was posting on Bnet in 2008 or earlier, I remember screen names from 15 years ago and now they all feel like characters from a movie I watched before.  I'm surprised at the amount of them that turned out to be cucked out morons all along like Achronos.

There's nothing of value at this point to save on the entire site so nuking the groups is no big deal.
I know exactly what you mean, it's surreal. I have recurring dreams about bungie.net and bungie in general. But they give me a strange sense of the uncanny valley.  My mind is trying to animate a community that no longer exists.

Also, I've changed a LOT over the past few years, so I reflect on those times in a new light.

Apparently, I can't edit my topic due to glitches. I didn't realize somebody already covered this, and I even replied to their thread. Shows how awful my short term memory is.

A little bit of old news, since Duardo announced it a few weeks ago. But private groups are going the way of the dodo. I was never involved in many so I'm not too broken up about it. (They were dead anyway), but somehow this feels like a prelude to nuking the entire forums themselves. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the direction Bungie is going, considering how cold and corporate they have become. They yeeted at least a third of the community, took a dagger to the culture that made the forums special, and now they are sterile. There's activity, but its a mere whimper compared to the anarchic chaos that was The Flood (and even Offtopic).

Groups have been broken for years now. I'm surprised they weren't shut down sooner.

The “oh sep7agon is so dead and bad” meme got stale about two years ago dude

I only half remember who you are. Longface? Big fucking deal, you’re irrelevant now my man. Please just leave if you’re only coming on here to tell others to leave. I don’t care about you.
You're a class act.

I'm not sure what's going to happen around here. I'm not sure a total lock down is a good thing. It's doing a number on morale, which can be just as devastating in some ways, if not more, than the pandemic itself. We all have an innate need to be with other people and to be doing something. Social distancing should be enforced, masks should be mandatory (barring legitimate exceptions due to health reasons), but people need to get out and make a living.

Yeah, I took a brief look around. Somehow this place has devolved even further since the last time I visited. I shall not be staying long, or else I'll lose what little sanity I have left. Ugh...its like somebody took the worst of old bungie.net, shoved it into a barrel and just let it ferment for several years.
That's my fetish.
bro, when the pandemic ends, get outside some more and get some fresh air! Go backpacking! I can recommend some cottage vendors to get you started.

Hi
I feel like a responsible friend would drag you out of here, Vien. But since I can't do that, I'll instead implore you to leave this place while you still have a mind.

I forgot I had one. I have no idea if it still exists. Achronos bungled the website.

why did everyone call him long face when he was in fact wide face
he didn't seem bothered by the name longface when we met in person
It was a surreal experience, hahaha. (Is this Nuka? Or one of my illegitimate children?)

Hey everybody, I never expected to create an account on here again. But, the pandemic-related safety measures have been leaving me feeling a little bit of cabin fever, which means more time on the internet. More time on the internet inevitably lead to me feeling a little bit nostalgic for the old bungie.net community. I dropped into bnet and saw the community is pretty much...dead in the water. Recon is gone, foman is gone, I saw a few familiar faces but the place seems like it lost its soul.

I probably won't stay, but I decided to drop in here and find out what I missed. I assume this website still had some correspondence with the bnet regulars. What has everybody been up to?
