The Flood / Re: How Many Of You Can Whistle?

You mean snap your fingers?
My brother tried to teach me, but left a key detail out:

When you have your thumb and middle finger together,
your ring finger and pinky should be pressed down on your palm.

That's what caused me to snap my fingers :)

*Attempts again*
Holy shit.

MY FINGERS MADE A SNAPPY NOISE!

Do what us developed countries are good at: outsourcing!

You've already started aiding the Kurds and the Germans gave a bumper-pack of arnaments, so continue doing that.

I'd agree that the NUT's reasoning to do with wealth is stupid, but segregating kids by the aptness is bad.

The Flood / Re: Help me with my academic career, Flood

So, essentially, I'm starting my second year of college next week. I just finished my AS (lower A-levels) levels and will be starting my A2 (higher A-levels).

For my AS results I got a D in philosophy, a B in history and an A in politics.

I was thinking about taking up economics as an AS while I'm also doing my A2 subjects. My teachers seem divided about it, so I'm throwing it out to you.

I'd be a bit careful about it. If you think you can keep up with the work (and do more to keep it fresh in the brain for exams!), then sure why not.

Otherwise, steer clear. Adding more work on top of what you already will get is pretty insane, particularly when you could focus on improving that D grade in A Level, which will already be a upward slope battle.

That could be something like Bigfoot coming out of the forest and saying hello or fucking aliens waving into the probe orbiting the Rosetta comet atm.

Hooray!

I had the same problem. At this point I'm happy I actually got onto the site, so just join us with a new one.

Still cant.

Stuck on the stupid welcome page?

When I got to it (on G. Chrome), I right clicked the little page/lock icon next to the url, went into "show cookies and site data", removed all the cookies there, and then did ctrl+F5. Hopefully that will solve the problem (although I had to create a new account because I'd lost my old one).

Also, in case Plug.DJ logins still fuck up in the new year, I'd better put my fix up here:

This will be occasionally bumped when things are too quiet over here, and saves on a bunch of threads.

According to those who've watched it, you don't actually see the beheading...you see the before and after.

And the calmness in that man who is about to be executed is surreal.

A WW2 game where you play as the Germans would fill that role <.<

It'd never get made in a hundred years though, can you imagine the unholy supernova of butthurt from every idiot on the planet? A game where you play as a nazi and kill Yanks/Commies/Britbongs. I'm pretty sure it would give peter hitchens a heart attack >.>

Meh.

The Russians have been fine with 'Merica making them the villains since the cold war. I think. Plus, on the multiplayer side of games we've been shooting 'Mericans and 'Brituns since Call of Duty (and I'm sure before that too)

China...not as much. BF4's things to do with China made them ban it, but they removed it later.

Don't get me started. Native Americans get almost anything for free.

But it was their country, so to speak. They are a little bit entitled to some free stuff after the whole expansion of the West.

Serious / Re: This is what a supporter of Scottish Independence looks like
« on: September 01, 2014, 05:48:50 PM »
Most Scots want to back out because they're pissed off about how New Labour & the Tories have been running things. OP is just cherry-picking from his retarded facebook friends.

Say what you will about whether or not this is a good idea, but you can't help but sympathize with the Yes vote.

From the Welsh point of view, I'd agree. They're always complaining about how the National Assembly has no powers, pays more taxes in then they get in funding, etc ,etc.

The Flood / Re: Why haven't we made submarine aircraft carriers yet?
« on: September 01, 2014, 05:38:19 PM »
They are a completely unrealistic idea, just like the flying one in The Avengers. I am simply discussing how one would function as both a submarine and an aircraft carrier. It is basically impossible, just fun to discuss.

But it is possible. Not entirely effective (and not in the same way Sentra has described), but it's already been done.

Serious / Re: This is what a supporter of Scottish Independence looks like
« on: September 01, 2014, 05:36:08 PM »
I haven't enough background knowledge or understanding of Scotland to see whether a Yes or No vote is good, but his reasoning for his choice seems pretty retarded to be fair.

The Flood / Re: Why haven't we made submarine aircraft carriers yet?
« on: September 01, 2014, 05:31:00 PM »
Japan did this in WWII: (and I believe Britain had a similar design to protect merchant vessels from German subs, though they ditched the plane after)

http://www.historynet.com/japanese-bomb-the-continental-u-s-west-coast.htm

Granted, it was quite rudimentary, but think of the potential today what with the technological advances since. Unfortunately it's a pipe dream as why launch planes from carriers to recon and bomb things when you have drones and ICBM's to do it for you?

Gaming / Re: Would you play a game that you lose?

So a loosing side of the story?

Sure. The loosing doesn't matter so long as the story is good. I'm not sure if it would sell well though, things with sad endings tend to not be the most popular (the same applies to movies).

"Israel determined the land was not cultivated with enough intensity for the Palestinians to maintain their ownership rights."

WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT FOR A BULLSHIT REASON?

Just because a country doesn't use their land, doesn't mean another country can just call dibs and take it for themselves. Who the fuck makes Israel the arbiter of what constitutes "enough intensity" for another fucking country (not even officially recognized, at that).

With that same logic by Israel, Russia could just take back swathes of Alaska as much of it "isn't used much" after America bought it. Anyone want ownership of the Antarctic? This is fucking ridiculous. Sure, Israel has been stealing land for settlements for ages, but with a dipshit-retarded reason such as that?

Argh. This has put a bee-hive in my bonnet. If Hamas, or other violent extremists that run the show in the West Bank start firing off rockets ("unprovoked" I'm guessing Israel will say), then the deaths from either side (as Israel are sure to start this rocket site/civilian bombing shite again) are solely on them.

The Flood / Re: Help me write my personal statement for university
« on: September 01, 2014, 04:02:16 PM »
God I hated the damned personal statements. I felt like a twat if I read mine out, and even my teacher who had helped out with these for decades knew they are total bullshit generators, but anywho...

Accentuate the positives, underplay the negatives. Tell them how it's been your life long dream, since being birthed into this world, to take media studies at [insert shit University here]. Say despite certain mistakes or negative aspects, you've learned valuable life lessons that now make you 10 times more fucking amazing.

Now try and fill this out to about a page, use ridiculous barely used vocabulary, less cliché and add relevant context regarding what ACTUAL course you want to do.

Serious / Re: So I was on the Green Party website
« on: September 01, 2014, 08:44:56 AM »
That would make it harder for anything to pass.

While that is great for retarded proposed policies, it also means that it take longer for good policies as it now means 300 more people have to check through it (just a simple example).

I'd agree that the whole governmental process is made more transparent so that obvious flaws in the system can be criticized and corrected, but adding as many people as possible to the system just makes it long-winded, and generally worse (would you rather an elected professional, or several geriatrics and a few young 'uns arguing over every possible detail but with no real knowledge on the department/sector?).

Good choice/Eurgh.

I found simply finding the nearest blunt object available in the room did the trick, didn't even get caught by the henchman despite how long it took to beat him to death.
