I'd agree. I have a day off and nothing to do except repeat Half Life again.

Not bad in comparison but jesus this is brain-meltingly boring.

And when the other restroom users shriek and shout about a man in the womens restroom? Why go through that exercise when the "hypothetical person" could just go in the mens room, take a piss/shit, and get out without drama?

Pardon me for interjecting here, but wouldn't the be the problem of the other women for mis-judging a woman to be a man?

And also, I'm sure if this hypothetical woman with male features came into the male restroom you'd get generally the same reaction (not shrieks, but definitely discontent, certainly  not "no drama" at all.)

You can see my balsa-wood companion, Dopey.
(I know it's not easy to see outside, what with the reflection of the inside on the window, but you're only missing out on a Victorian street and some trees)

Well...shit.

I may not know you as well as many others here, but I'm really fucking sorry to hear you may be departing, especially well before you should.

It was good to hear what you had to say about various things, and I hope our antics here kept most of the pain of your faltering condition off your mind.

At first I'd check both here and B.Net about equally. But activity here has risen, while B.net had the same old shit time and time again.

A factor in this would probably be when Israel and Palestine kicked off again. In B.Net, there was fuck all about it, while here it was a flurry of discussion, debate and arguments.

I think this month I may have checked B.Net twice, 3 times max. Here I'm on daily, hourly when I'm at home.

Is this the season that continues from them being stuck in a train carriage, or have I missed a season?

Either way, can't wait. Gotta find another proxy site though...

Serious / Re: Depression in school/work
« on: September 29, 2014, 06:59:56 PM »
I wouldn't say I've ever been depressed. Melancholic maybe, bitter at other times.

For me I got 7A's in GCSE which is not super fantastic but it's better than good for most people. Then A Levels (specifically Physics...gah fuck the equations and laws you have to remember) kicked me in the shin and coupled with no enthusiasm to work, it just piled up and I fell behind. I ended up with 3 C's at A level and a D in AS, which frankly I've no idea how I got into my course on those grades. Not terrible, but I'm not exactly happy about them either.

lel Irish plays too much TES

I've never even played the damned thing. Only ever played Skyrim, figured out the rest through interest and checking up on the wiki.

And seriously it wasn't a slip of the mind on my part, my teacher's TAUGHT (or rather, drilled it in) me this.

I did today, put a quick post in, didn't expect much to come of it.

Liked instantly by a randomer. Not complaining nor bragging, but fuck I'm not that funny.

Just searched it, doesn't seem to be an A.K.A. of Reichskonkordat, though my History teachers (multiple) and the examining board specifications explicitly mention it as the same thing.

What kind of History Class would bring up the White-Gold concordant?

One that obviously didn't check it out and confused it with the actual historical name, and then no-one else questioning it, now I feel retarded (._.) . Just checked out with my friends still in school; they still haven't realised, so I'mma have to tell teacher so they can take it up with the idiots at WJEC.

White-Gold Concordat
LOL WAT
Yes, I know, same sorta thing as TES. Does kinda put another perspective on the Elves as TES' form of Nazis :L
I refuse to believe that's a thing. Link me.
Hmm... I think my A-Level and GCSE history teachers might have failed me here. (And maybe even the courses themselves... :S).

Well, fuck me. My school's education and the WJEC board have failed me in this respect, it seems. I'd actually better tell them :L.

I'd agree you shouldn't judge a religion by it's fundamentalists; just judge the fundamentalists by their actions, and the same for religions, or anything else in general.

Also, while the Catholic church apologized to the Jews in 1965, it took them another 30 years to admit they "probably didn't do enough" to oppose the Nazis, depsite their potential to be an immense threat to them during their rise to power with 1/3 of Germany being Catholic and the Pope being a very significant figure (Hell, hey they were happy to sign the White-Gold Concordat non-intervention pact of '36 with them...).

5595
It seems to be an effort to forcefully get them into jobs (how he'll get them to work min. wage shite jobs I've no idea, but here's being hopeful...)

Combine this with their plans to take 20% off the cost of new housing for ("hard working" - D.C.) under-40's, their certainly trying to use incentives to get people off dole and out of their mum's house.

But in a wider discussion, I find it odd that the government hands out welfare pay to people who ended up there in various ways (down on their luck, lack of jobs in their profession, outsourcing, or really fucking stupid and/or lazy) in direct cash. Why not food vouchers (and not for TV dinners, for actual ingredients to make meals which is way healthier and cheaper), rather than it being abused to be spent on useless stuff which doesn't count as aiding in "welfare". Books? Yes, aiding literacy (amazing that a small minority of grown people can't read in the UK!), and depending on the subject, broadening their minds or educating them. A 50-inch Plasma TV? HOW THE FUCK DOES THAT COUNT AS WELFARE?!

Spoiler
Although this may be considered very harsh, perhaps even a conservative mindset, why don't we treat some who are on welfare like children, seeing as many aren't capable, or don't wish to escape from a dull and frankly shit lifestyle of highly opinionated thick bastards who get fat eating junk food and watch TV all day. /rant

Should've seen the Reich Churches...Highly modified protestant religion with the bible replaced with Mein Kampf. Purely to get more support for him and his party however, though I heard they made "alternate" religions similar to paganism to cater to a small minority in Germany.

Plus he(/the Nazis collectively) completely fucked up the education system, making them all mindless grunts. He wasn't really concerned with the long term future of the country, he was concerned with the war going on and all that stood in his way of an Aryan Empire.

Jesus, that is horrible news to hear. Not that it means much, but I hope you come through it all right.

And good on you for maintaining responsibility of care for the children. That is seriously hard shit to do considering the larger problem atm.

Serious / Re: Name one thing atheists can do that religious people can't
« on: September 29, 2014, 02:18:43 AM »
Atheists don't have to care about a religion. I can also say "All religions are total bollocks" and not be hypocritical, not being religious myself.

Also if we're bunching them all up:

Can eat pork, shellfish, meat with milk, eat cows, eat meat on Sundays, etc...
Drink beer, use technology, marry multiple women or just fuck lots of them, have contraceptive sex, be gay/lesbian, etc...

Pretty much anything a religion limits specifically, I can do. I'm limited by my own morals and laws, whereas you (assuming religious OP) have to also abide by the rules of whatever religion.

Seems spot on. And this was all from the Demo.

It seems to me like a lesser version of Borderlands. Sure, that too can be a grind but there's more variety in the main and side missions, and the random loot stuff is glitzed up to the max. (Plus always-on isn't really required while still revolving around co-op play)

Comparing Destiny to Borderlands is like comparing Resident Evil Extinction to Zombieland

It seemed similar to me, just like a posher yet boring version of Borderlands. No crazy gib-tacular violence and the like.

Other than the JFK thing, I can't think of any.

I believe in alien life existing, but nothing along the lines of things like Roswell or the supposed "alien coverups". I mean, NASA atm is looking for evidence of life on Mars, I'm sure by now whatevever top-secret organisation that would be involved in that sorta thing would have slipped it to them that there's little green/grey men visiting Earth by now.

The Flood / Re: What's your ethnic background?
« on: September 28, 2014, 05:04:33 PM »
Irish, with my father coming from two prominent Irish families in the South West, O'Donnell and O'Mahney(Might have misspelt, can't be certain), and my mother's side being North Welsh with the common last name of Williams.

Despite both families preceding me staying Irish/Welsh (making me 50/50), I still consider to myself to be Irish, as I was born there, bear an Irish name, have the accent and lived there for a large portion of my life.

Two, but frankly I don't give a fuck what people decide to assign themselves so long as they are happy with it.

It doesn't concern me as I'm not them, and they shouldn't concern themselves with my stance on the subject because they are not me. Does that make sense?

I've got to defend myself with a Pizza against a murderous Emperor penguin.

Easy. Carefully place pizza on floor, drop-kick the penguin, pick up pizza and eat.

« on: September 28, 2014, 04:13:51 PM »
I wouldn't say so, at least in the West (but then the "sudden growth" of Middle Eastern fundamentalists could be due to post 9/11 media focusing on any terrorist activity heavily, so it honestly could be either-or)

Spoiler
Not shitting on the Halo gamenight we had, but it had a distinct lack of leveling an entire house with a tank.

The Flood / Re: Flood How do you *Read Without Zoning Out*?
« on: September 28, 2014, 09:37:57 AM »
I'm stuck on doing packets, or rather I look at them and procrastinate. I've been told by everyone to finish them but when I start reading anything my brain just shuts off and often I forget everything. I could be finished with Highschool next week (Should have finished over a year ago) but I just can't get myself to do it. I sat down for 3 hours and only finished 3 pages of reading. How do you deal with issues when reading? Especially when you have to write essays about the content? (English Packets).

You might have ADD/ADHD.
