The Flood / Re: WHAT ARE WE EATING

I ate a homemade shepard's pie outside my house while the fire alarm went off for the third time today (completely unrelated to the cooking).

Probable cause is put down to the officer also. Reasonable suspicion is it sounds like: A suspicion that is reasonable. This includes running from cops, a person stalking around and looking in cars with tools, passing off baggies, drinking an unidentifiable substance in a paper bag, and other things. That all falls under reasonable suspicion. It's reasonable to think a person is trying to breaki into cars by stalking around with tools. It's reasonable to think a person is drinking alcohol in public when it's being consumed from a brown paper bag

Define stalking. Could be a small-time handyman looking for the house he's supposed to be working on/in.

Hell, I've been told I can be inadvertently "stalkery" when I'm looking for something, and I've never committed a serious crime in my life.

It's more that the police officer can just claim some BS if they want to and search you regardless if they like. In any case, as a civilian how do you argue with authority? You can't just say no, that's suspicious, in itself warranting a search, or as far as resisting arrest "on suspicion of x crime"

While I think law enforcement is generally great, I don't like the broadness of "reasonable suspicion" to allow police officers to stop and search me.

It really puts it down the the officer, and while I'm sure there are countless good ones upholding the law, there are bound to be biased assholes who will stop certain looking people and can then pull the "reasonable suspicion" card out like it was going out of style.

In the UK which is apparently a better law enforcement group than the US, still S&S's black people 3 times as many white people S&S'd, and in certain areas of London it was 26 times more likely. Granted, that could be because of the demographics and history of said area, but I don't believe it would make it that more likely. That alone makes me wary, even as a white person.

The Flood / Re: So I am no longer allowed to drive to school
« on: October 02, 2014, 09:54:41 AM »
You have the expensive cool car, right?

There's the problem. An expensive cool car is going to be a target for stealing, and I assume the liability cost for a car such as yours would be exponentially high compared to some first time banger car that most kids would have.

I can see why they are doing this, it's in case your car get's stolen and you decide to blame the school. They can't use most of their budget (if not all) paying the insurance on an a super expensive car, even if you'd said you wouldn't consider them liable, because there's always a chance and it's a chance they can't risk.

Yes, I agree it indeed sucks ass. I'd take on the chin for now, and ask later if you can park your car again if there isn't a wave of robberies in a few weeks.

Scarves.

Also a ridiculous uniform one, you couldn't wear a school polo shirt until summer term so by late spring everyone was melting in their jumpers (because they were compulsory up until summer).

Oh and playing cards because "it promotes gambling". Oh fuuuuuuck offfff

While I think that man's criminal actions pretty bad, I don't think any criminal deserves such sadistic "punishment" on par with the Dark Ages.

Amish is a sect of some religion, or have I messed up there?

Either way those guys just love to have horses and churn butter.
Orthodox jews that can't use light switches or drive cars on Sundays, for example.
Holy shit really?!

Bsc?

Woops, I mean BSc (A Bachelor of Science). In Geology, so rocks, tectonics, minerals and resources, that sorta thing.

You can't present such evidence in a court. It would actually, at best, harm your side of the case.
Out of curiosity, why?

The Flood / Re: Survey of Education

The highest i have is A Levels (I wouldn't say British College though...that would award NVQ's which are technical courses. A levels can be taken through Secondary school/ "High school" as an extra 2 years).

But I'm currently starting Bsc so hopefully I can add that in 3 years' time.

If forced, I'd choose dog.

As long as it wasn't a chihuahua or a poodle, it'd be more... meaty? Certainly less finicky and lean I'd assume a cat to be.

Serious / Re: Does saying nigga make you a racist?

Depends on the context. Same as swearing isn't offensive if I say "frack me that hurt" rather then "frack you, and your family".

Also depends on the person(s) within earshot. But I'm no mind-reader.

Serious / Re: Is chivalry dead?
« on: October 01, 2014, 02:45:27 AM »
Didn't you get the memo? Chivalry was outdated, it got replaced with cynicism and "city people". (You know, the ones who if you say hello would react like you've just dropped your pants and shat on the floor).

Then again, it might be just the country and it's norms. Whenever I go back to my home country, I notice everyone's a bit more social and easy-going. You're way more likely for a random stranger to drop by and have a conversation.

And when the other restroom users shriek and shout about a man in the womens restroom? Why go through that exercise when the "hypothetical person" could just go in the mens room, take a piss/shit, and get out without drama?

Pardon me for interjecting here, but wouldn't the be the problem of the other women for mis-judging a woman to be a man?

And also, I'm sure if this hypothetical woman with male features came into the male restroom you'd get generally the same reaction (not shrieks, but definitely discontent, certainly  not "no drama" at all.)

You can see my balsa-wood companion, Dopey.
(I know it's not easy to see outside, what with the reflection of the inside on the window, but you're only missing out on a Victorian street and some trees)
