I've honestly no idea. I suggest that with the invention of the teenager in the 50's, kids didn't want to grow up just to turn into their parents. Seeing as 50's parents commonly wore dresses, suits and a hat, it was "uncool" to dress like them, and so a counter-culture was developed (using teenage role models as the inspiration for fashion, e.g. Elvis) which started off alright IMO, and has since degraded to today's standard fashion.

I did like the story up until around the end. The final reset made no sense. Spoiler Wouldn't it have made more sense that he woke up on those bags at the military base and then the black shouty dude would say something like "At ease, maggot. D-Day's cancelled" Come to think of it, there were a few problems... The start. Why would a CO put essentially a propaganda officer on the frontlines, considering he had no training to use those super expensive suits?
Just so the director could justify 30 minutes of essentially "training montage" footage?
Then the resets. Why reset a day before, on the bags? Why not several seconds before he kills that Alpha?
I suppose it's so the film can have a good-ending-where-nobody-dies-but-the-badguy thing, but c'mon.
Plus the only way the FMB could know she had lost the power was if she died...meaning she wouldn't have been there in the first place.
