The Flood / Re: If marijuana was legal, would you try it?
« on: December 03, 2014, 01:47:10 PM »
Yes, I think I would.

Weed is prevalent around where I live atm but seeing as the "shop owner" is some shifty looking chav looking for a quick sell and I have no idea what sort of quality of weed I'd be buying (if it was even weed), then currently I have no desire to be near it.

If it were sold like alcohol and held to the same sort of health & safety/quality testing then I'd be far more inclined to try it, although seeing as I don't like smoking as it is I certainly wouldn't make a habit out of it.
its probably weed. people dont tend to actually not give you weed (and giving you laced weed is also really rare.) the only person ive ever seen sell something other than weed that he advertised as weed was some shifty assburglar i went to high school with. the real issue is whether you're getting mid or loud. just ask your local friends who smoke about the best place to get it from and then ask them about pricing to make sure you're getting the right bang for your buck.

While that's great, I should probably mention if I were caught with it I'm pretty much screwed. At the very least I'm kicked out of University, at worst I'm virtually blacklisted, so I'm not even considering it for the time being.

It doesn't make sense, period.

I'm sure if all the athiests or of a religion that doesn't believe in an afterlife just died, I'm sure whoever said it would realise what worth they just lost.

Scientists, Politicians, Skilled workers, Maintenance men, Health workers, That pizza delivery guy, whatever. Suddenly gone, and I'm sure some mild chaos would ensue (Not every single person in these fields, of course, but atheist beliefs don't just apply to one set of profession).

I may be taking the quote quite literally, but it makes a good point. If someone genuinely thinks that people who don't think life goes on after we depart this plane clearly haven't thought this through, in more ways than just a theological standpoint.

A request for an addition to the compendium:

« on: December 03, 2014, 08:45:51 AM »
I suppose I'm lucky that I've never really thought deeply about death. It's too far away from now for me to care much. Was essentially born an atheist so I've never had to "come to terms" with things and accept my way of life any different.

I don't really have a goal with a set purpose in my life. I want to enjoy my life, and to do that I need to do the best I can, in terms of education so I can a job I might actually like and so I can fund myself for entertainment in my free time. That doesn't mean stepping over people, so if I can make people around me happy on my way to the box than that's always a good thing too.

I usually change my name or my avatar, never both so someone can associate me from the past one way or another.

But jesus, when some of you lot change both at the same time you may as well be a new person to me.

You think you've got problems with only 300 to go?

Otherwise though I'm good. Just had a £3 Indian buffet for lunch and now I'm going to sleep it off since I've no more depressing lectures today about how rising sea levels are causing acidification of the ocean and coral bleaching which means in 60 years there won't be any natural corals anymore. *inhales* That was a lot of words.

TS;DR:Go to Indonesia around now and look at corals naturally while you still can.

Lmfao, TS;DR, never seen that before

Too Smart; Didn't Read. I'm probably gonna start using it more when I occasionally ramble on about Geology. (Not bragging, but I doubt anyone here is learning/has learned geology here, and some of it is pretty interesting.)

The Flood / Re: Is every post that I make really cringeworthy?
« on: December 03, 2014, 07:44:13 AM »
I honestly wasn't expecting any votes for no. Seems with almost everyone, everything I post is cringeworthy.

The only reason you think this is because when someone thinks it's cringey (negative), they tell you. Everybody else on the other hand doesn't because either they don't care or think it's fine, and don't need to say anything. (neutral/positive).

As long as he isn't a total ass and that actually was him apologising, then I guess why not.

2/12/14 - Everyone not mentioned in the OP gets pissy that they weren't mentioned in the OP.

But seriously, where'd the Meta-Occupation of the Serious board go, and the Meta-Invasion of Flood?

Ubisoft has become pretty bad as of late.

I'm not sure if anyone else realizes the severity of a company flat-out lying to customers about something like the Watch_Dogs graphics downgrade, despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary (the actual unused files included in the game). I'm not sure if EA or Activision have ever done anything as bad as that.

Not sure about Activision, but EA certainly has.

Since they were advertising for BF3, they've been flat-out lying to customers, promising them a variety of things, but have consistently not delivered on things such as a spectator mode, or that their super-awesome frostbite engine is built from the ground-up, despite somehow having the exact same bugs as the previous engines. They're also great for saying "Yeah the last game had these bugs and was bad, but THIS game will be better...aaaand it's still shit, broken in the same ways".

Then, when the official forums flared up about it all, they closed it down :) That's how I ended up on a "refugee forum", sorta like this place for BF, and am virtually updated daily on EA's bullshit generator.

To be fair I think Ubisoft has fallen off a cliff lately, but I still don't think they've met EA on the way down...yet.
