Noelle left I think
Really? I hadn't noticed her here in a while but I didn't think she left.
Yeah, she claims to have left.
Still lurks though.
Sorry to detract from this celebration thread, but why?
Supposedly there's a "moderator circle jerk". And supposedly she's mad because of a ban.

You know, drama.

Ah.

The usual then.

Reach, by far. Sweet UI, armour customisations, and the scenery was beautiful. Halo 3 is a close second for the background.

I'm no advocate of UKIP.

...But then again I'm no advocate of censorship either. If a feminist Muslim can express their distaste of Ol' Nigel then he too should  be allowed to express his views, even retaliate seeing as he isn't spouting hate speech.

Mexicans. They're the only ones I know who jump into EUROPE servers and fuck up everything, not to mention they're usually the scumbag players of the match.

Plus one hacked my XBL account, so I'm not very overjoyed when they appear.

Define migrant.

Outside EU, outside Britain & Ireland or just outside UK?

Otherwise I agree with them all.

I'm fine with it, though I'd prefer it regulated and legal of course.

However for whatever reason there is a strong correlation between massive dope smokers and some sort of fucky - upiness in them. Not all, of course, but still.

I think it'should better to find cures (and if not possible, cost effective  measures) for those with serious mental disabilities, accidental or natural.

Or the furthest immoral, prevent those with a high risk of giving birth to a mentally handicapped child be advised against  or even prevented from reproducing.

Killing or abandoning them is just outright sadistic.

But why is the crazy controversial stuff done in South Africa? E.g.  District 9 and this (with little references in Elysium)

W@W Veteran.

So. Many. Fucking. Frags.

It's surprising how a campaign can exponentially increase difficulty when all you have to do is make bolt action rifles (the most common weapon for the enemy) OHK and give them a good potato-chucking arm with a box of grenades.

Serious / Re: Women could serve in the British Infantry by 2016
« on: December 19, 2014, 07:18:04 AM »
Good for equality, but not good for combat stance.

Seeing as we can only support a finite amount of combat soldiers at any time, it would make more sense to have men being on front-line end as, equality or not, men have a higher physical capacity than women given training.

I'm fine with women fighting at the front lines, just so long as they realise they could be fighting someone who will be treating them as a combatant, and won't make it a "fair fight" to survive just because it's a woman vs a man.

Hanns Scharff was one of the best interrogators of WWII, and apart from putting mild fear into the POW's about the Gestapo he treated them well and as a result could get plenty of information.

An excerpt:
Quote
After a prisoner's fear had been allayed, Scharff continued to act as a good friend, including sharing jokes, homemade food items, and occasionally alcoholic beverages. Scharff was fluent in English and knowledgeable about British customs and some American ones, which helped him to gain the trust and friendship of many of his prisoners. Some high profile prisoners were treated to outings to German airfields (one POW was even allowed to take a BF 109 fighter for a trial run), tea with German fighter aces, swimming pool excursions, and luncheons, among other things. Prisoners were treated well medically at the nearby Hohe Mark Hospital, and some POWs were occasionally allowed to visit their comrades at this hospital for company's sake, as well as the better meals provided there. Scharff was best known for taking his prisoners on strolls through the nearby woods, first having them swear an oath of honor that they would not attempt to escape during their walk. Scharff chose not to use these nature walks as a time to directly ask his prisoners obvious military-related questions, but instead relied on the POWs' desire to speak to anyone outside of isolated captivity about informal, generalized topics. Prisoners often volunteered information the Luftwaffe had instructed Scharff to acquire, frequently without realizing they had done so.

And seeing as he was repatriated and moved to America after the war and elaborated on his technique to the military, you'd think the CIA would know that just beating the shite out a suspected terrorist and humiliating them wouldn't work. If anything, holding back information would be more ingrained into the victim's mind, seeing as it could be their last "Fuck you" to the interrogator.

Gaming / Re: Valve pulls 'Hatred' from Steam Greenlight. | Updated
« on: December 18, 2014, 08:14:08 AM »
Valve is by far the dominant PC market. Games live or die based on if they get on there.
They already admitted that it broke no rules, that they don't want to be moral arbiters, and that it was a mistake to remove it.

They apologized. Its been replaced. I really don't get why people keep trying to defend it after the fact.
Kinda surprised how many people on here are more than happy to have major platforms like this censor games for 'moral' reasons. Especially since those same reasons can be used to censor games you do like.

Your first statement isn't strictly true, look at Minecraft which had no financial backing, advertisement or endorsement at all. Games shouldn't need the backing of a large PC games companies to have a market in the first place, they need to be good. Unfortunately that's not how the market works (See any current AAA title that has issues), but if the game wasn't going to draw in a profit and survive on it's own without Valve's help because it was crap, or the theme is for a niche market rather than a target audience, why should it be supported at all?

Just because Valve dropped it doesn't mean it wouldn't get produced.

It just means it'll have a smaller audience, which seeing as it's trying to attract a certain theme people aren't comfortable with anyway would only have a negligible affect on sales.

Those who want the game could still get it elsewhere, and it doesn't make Valve look like it's supporting mass murders to the average person/ crazy anti-game radical.

Serious / Re: Does satire belong in serious?
« on: December 15, 2014, 04:58:11 PM »
I guess political satire has some sort of seriousness to it, so long as you can generate a discussion out of it

An example:

Did Disraeli really want to further democracy in the UK with 1867 reform act, or was he just an opportunist trying to rejuvenate the crumbling Tory/Conservative party after causing their downfall in 1842?

If it was just the image and nothing else in the OP, it's more  "serious spam" than anything else.
I think it's more about "entirely fabricated articles" than cartoons

Well than obviously some satire is perfectly fine.
