Gaming / Re: What games can I play with my laptop?« on: February 18, 2015, 03:52:10 PM »
You might be able to run Half Life (and 2) if you modify the Direct X settings (Enter "-dxlevel 81" or even 70 to reduce the strain from the game properties...if you have Steam), and CounterStrike Source if you keep the settings low.
Steam-independent games are probably better for your laptop considering the low RAM, so I'd check out any games made pre-2005-ish tops. Though with that setup you won't be able to play a 1080p video without stuttering. Oh, and don't expect ANY of these to run at 60fps, more around the mid 20's if you're lucky. 4385
The Flood / Re: Do you consider yourself a "core member" of the Flood?« on: February 18, 2015, 07:38:19 AM »
Nope.
I'm hardly core material for this small minority of a site, let alone amongst a sea of Flood users on Bungie. ...not that I'm complaining, seriously now. 4386

Serious / Re: Make Britain safer; bring back handguns« on: February 18, 2015, 04:03:57 AM »
It seems contradictory, but I sorta agree with it. Sorta.
As Psy mentioned, I'd hardly feel safer knowing everyone can have a handgun considering not everyone is going to be as sane or competent with one as I'd like them to be. It would be great if there was adequate screening to have such things as well as training, but that's not exactly guaranteed. Bashy weapons, fine. Blasty weapons, not so much. 4388
Gaming / Re: Describe the first time you went to Ravenholm?« on: February 18, 2015, 02:14:59 AM »
At the time, it sucked... now, it's just the 3rd worst part of the game (behind the car/airboat levels)
Run it on a shit laptop at 20fps and the confusing level design meant it took a few hours to get through. Father Grigori was certainly interesting though. 4389

I was about to put down regularly drink until that definition made me an alcholic.
I drink to the point of binging for one night only, and after that I usually don't drink at all for another 2-3 weeks. On the minus side, I rarely have a day afterwards as I get terrific hangovers. Hell, my last "bender" was two consecutive saturdays drunk. 4390

TLDR version:
I moved away from my home country, without reason from my parents, only for them to divorce a few years later. Fast forward to now, and 8 years in Wales and I'm still recognised as "that Irish guy" in schools and now Uni. 4398

The Flood / Re: What email service(s) do you use?« on: February 12, 2015, 04:17:24 PM »
Got Gmail for my personal stuff and buying stuff, got hotmail for my Windows account and Skype, and Outlook because I get a compulsory one with uni which they spam with crap.
Used to have Yahoo for everything but it got spammy and eventually just risky to have everything associated to it, so I nuked it. 4404
The Flood / Re: Nicknames you have for other users?« on: February 12, 2015, 04:08:48 PM »
I don't use any.
Well, RC is the duck guy and Ryle's the raving cat, but that's more for identifying them than a nickname. And DZ for DigtlZesty only because DZ is easier. 4405
Serious / Re: Yeah, what the fuck?« on: February 12, 2015, 03:55:51 PM »At least you don't have to purchase a licence in order to watch T.V. According to a roommate who checked this out, (upon moving to uni, everyone got letters for TV licenses...) that counts for live TV only. Apparently BBC/ITV/[Insert channel here] catch up (which can be half an hour to an hour after the live screening) on a computer doesn't qualify, so you could always do that as a work-around if you/your family hate paying. And to refer back to OP, it's probably bunched together so you pay more for it, and in return the unwatched TV channels continue to exist and get revenue not normally possible with their otherwise small audience. 4406

Séamus:
-The most beautiful man alive. Smart, kind, and honest. A true gentleman. He easily makes friends and is good to his woman and family. But, I thought these other ones were worthy of putting down too: Quote -American slang for a private detective or an Irish cop. Commonly misspelled as "Shamus." Taken from Seamus, a popular first name among Irishmen. Frankly I found the second-to-last one just perfect. 4407

The Flood / If you had only 3 hours to play« on: February 12, 2015, 11:15:12 AM »
Flood is full of pick ones and hypotheticals atm, so I thought I'd throw my hat into the ring for this.
You have a laptop with every game currently in existence in it's library to play on, and are heading off to Mars because you just are. In your excitement, you forgot to pack your charger for the laptop and only have 3 hours to play on it before the charge runs out, and you won't be able to charge it for at least 8 months while NASA shuttle over a charger from Earth. Internet signal is pretty shitty on Mars and only reserved for scientific research, so you can't play on online game there either*. So, you have 3 hours to start from scratch and play any game you want. What would you choose? * There's nothing stopping you from playing games like CoD or CounterStrike multiplayer exactly, but you'll be on your own or with bots. TLDR - Any and every game available to play. 3 hours only, never again afterwards. No internet. Wat u pik? 4409
Gaming / Re: Fallout 3, and Fallout New Vegas Mods« on: February 12, 2015, 10:56:52 AM »
I've only started getting into Fallout on PC, but so far I just have the Unofficial Patches which are supposed to fix things.
(Called "Fallout 3 Unofficial Patch"/"YUP" for F3 and FNV respectively). I've also got GNR Enhanced for F3's radio so it adds 70 more 40's/50's songs (A good few with Nuclear themes) 4410
Serious / Re: ITT we talk about "reverse racism"« on: February 12, 2015, 10:52:04 AM »
I assumed reverse racism was just being expressly kinder to another race than your own simply because of that difference.
Zimbabwe is great example of racism just as much as the South African Apartheid or Nazi Germany are (ignoring Jews in this case). |
