The Flood / Re: What I've learned in my time here

On the other hand, there are some genuinely intelligent people here, and some of those don't make a point of it.

Spoiler
And I don't mean me, that's (egotistical/narcissistic?). I'm capable of being smart, but it's not like I use it.

I'll revise one thing to my last statement, if it's functional or expected to last long, I have no qualms paying what I could consider exorbitant prices, like jeans.

Ones that are artificially "weathered" and £15-£20 aren't likely to last 2 years, whereas the £120 ones (using Levi's as an example) would last at very least a decade, even with intensive use. Of course this doesn't apply for teens per-se as most are still growing - but once the spurts are over, good quality at a tad hefty price can be worth it in the long run, but not necessarily.

I'm more surprised that people are shocked now with the destruction of ancient cultural statues than before with an attempted destruction of present culture by killing everyone (yet somehow, this video annoys me more than the death videos - not that I've seen those) , but this is still abhorrent, savage behavior.

I can see why Turkey went in to exhume a tomb and move it to a more secure/easier to reach position in Syria, away from ISIS' hands.

I see ISIS is planning the short term history books, should be easy to wipe them off the face of it when the joint Kurdish forces with Western airstrikes put them in the dirt.

I don't dislike sport.

I dislike my inability to do it. I couldn't follow a training regime or a specific diet just to play proper rugby, for example. Love to watch Six Nations though.

I don't know, perhaps because it's the "normal" thing to do?

Personally I prefer cargo pants and a funny T-shirt and a standard hoody, all of which would cost me below £80 if I shop right. but I can understand why people would do it, as whatever brand that sells those T-shirts with pictures of Rio DeJaneiro or California, (or other places I've never been to on people that haven't been there either which I regularly see getting wasted at nightclubs).

It's just an unfortunate trend, which companies have reigned in on and suckers have bought into.

Meta and PSU, or Kinder.

Can you imagine the violence (but seriousness...at least from one side) in the arguments?

But I still think the BMI system is totally flawed and shouldn't be used by doctors as an indicator of health.

They can have any traits so long as they're laid back about everything I do. I'd see arguments rising from religious beliefs, so non-religious would be preferred but I can't really decide who I'd end up marrying entirely.

Ok, set-up my account and the like, it seems my old account was wiped. Ah well, will try with my other one.

SuperGreen19 is my noob account for now, though I'll see if I can revive my other one.

I see the attention towards this (and therefore the revenue) was starting to run dry. Why not bring it up again by claiming an act of terrorism? That always garners attention from the Western media...

English - Native, fluent.

Irish Gaelic - Native, though shite in all aspects of it. (I can tell you what a few words are)

Welsh - Non native, mild understanding and reading, poor speaking. Apparently worthy of a C in GCSE's.

Russian - I know the Cyrillic alphabet. That's all.

Italian, French, Bulgarian, Polish, Spanish, Malaysian, Turkish - A variety of random  words and expletives.

It remembers my old account from before I had this username ( ^ ) for everything. Goddamn it's cringey now.

Wait, have they started crucifying people yet? Or running a survival-lottery in a town of perceived greed and corruption?

As 2D evil Caesar's Legion were made out to be in FNV, ISIS are just behind them in reality. All we need now is a face for ISIS to be some intelligent, at-one-point-good guy to suffer from cancer and then the ISIS "Empire" to collapse. Oh and maybe a bit more slavery and the like.

I play it when I don't want to think.

Seriously, at least with Gears or Fallout or Borderlands or Battlefield I think a little before I charge into a room packed with baddies. On MW2 I can just run all the way around and empty bunkers of them until I get shot, and repeat it over again.

Well I started trying to learn Russian for one.

Then I got busy again, so now I just have the Russian alphabet sorta memorised.

Gaming / Re: What games can I play with my laptop?
« on: February 19, 2015, 07:26:59 AM »
I personally prefer the game where you buy a better computer.

You might be able to run Half Life (and 2) if you modify the Direct X settings (Enter "-dxlevel 81" or even 70 to reduce the strain from the game properties...if you have Steam), and CounterStrike Source if you keep the settings low.

Steam-independent games are probably better for your laptop considering the low RAM, so I'd check out any games made pre-2005-ish tops.

Though with that setup you won't be able to play a 1080p video without stuttering. Oh, and don't expect ANY of these to run at 60fps, more around the mid 20's if you're lucky.
This. All of this.
Like I said, I didn't buy this for gaming. I'm going to be getting a custom made tower eventually for that. I'm just wondering what I can play on this.

Also, I used to play Half-Life and CSS all the time on my 12 year old tower. Pretty sure I can run those games with medium settings, but maybe the videocard is my problem.

From experience on my previous laptop, it almost certainly is the gpu.

Lowering the software level of DirectX lowers the graphics levels further than just having stuff on med/low settings, at the cost of fighting smudgy blobby polygons.
