Serious / Re: First *full body transplant* to occur in 2017« on: April 11, 2015, 07:59:08 PM »Bullshit. They aren't exactly fucking around with the brain itself, more like the connecting all the wires from the head to the right sockets in the body/neck. And we've already done tests on mice, dogs and monkeys that was apparently worthy of some scientific info. 4115

1: Wales, land of sheep, hills and ONE mountain, and people who have an almost lyrical voice. well, the ones who aren't from Cardiff, anyway...
2: Coffee that came from a moka pot, and Anatolia pizza from my local takeaway (Olives, Beef, Spicy Chicken, Sweetcorn and Onions) 3: Generally average-ish proportions, with a slouching stature, with a default serious/sad look on my face (not much I can do about that, normally I'm cheerful) and complexion of mild grey paper. I do pretty much resemble Roy from the IT Crowd. 4: First a geology degree, than after that... haven't really dwelled on it. It'll come eventually, and if not I'll rush into doing something anyway like I normally do. 4118

The Flood / Re: Syria rebels home made tank. The "Sham II.« on: April 11, 2015, 08:33:05 AM »
That's pretty cool especially with the cameras so they don't get shot, though it's more an armored car or an IFV than a tank.
If that thing came up against an RPG or an actual tank, that thing is fucked. Hell, boggy ground would probably scuttle it too. 4125

Hmm.
Body is more area to look at and appreciate, but face is what I'd be looking at more often. Face it is. Couldn't tell if a great body is actually great with clothes on. 4127
The Flood / Re: Another woman fail« on: April 10, 2015, 06:34:35 PM »
Meh. Date first, and if it goes any further ask about it. I'm sure if it got further either she'd limit it or stop, or you could get over it.
Complaining on a first date gets you fuck all. 4128
The Flood / Re: Feminism, its not a synonym for equality« on: April 10, 2015, 06:11:23 PM »
I've always found it funny when feminists say they are pushing for "equality". Not LOL funny, but just a niggling thought in my mind.
There probably is a lot more issues facing women than men still, but please don't tell me feminism is about gender equality when the title itself of such "equality" gender biased. Egalitarianism is what they are looking for (or along the lines of). Feminism has never looked out for the negative inequalities of man. 4129
Serious / Re: Should you be able to use self defense against a Cop?« on: April 10, 2015, 03:29:03 PM »
Problem is, if you are facing a cop who has/is: i) Misunderstood your action and knows from his mind you did a criminal act or ii) Is just a shitty cop, what stops them from then beating the shit out of you, shooting/tasing you and then charging you with assault of a police officer afterwards regardless of your original innocence?
Plus police have training to deal with this sorta thing. If I was being detained and about to face police brutality I'd take my chances running than fighting them. 4131
Serious / Re: First *full body transplant* to occur in 2017« on: April 10, 2015, 02:41:28 PM »I don't believe this at all. I find it very doubtful, but not entirely impossible juuuust yet. We've already had successful limb, face and recently womb transplants capable of allowing sterile women to give birth to children, and there's also massive advancements for disabled people to see or hear for the first time, as well as walk from after what was previously thought to be permanently damaging spinal injuries. Granted, I find it hard to believe they will actually succeed (there's so many things that can go wrong with this, as well as unforeseen circumstances ahead), but I find that we've gotten to a stage we can even consider such a feat possible is just amazing. 4132
The Flood / Re: At what age are you too old to live with your parents« on: April 10, 2015, 01:58:19 PM »
I'd say you might need a kick up the arse by the time you're 30. You may work in the same area as where you're parents live, so it would make more sense to live a tad cheaper with the family and pay some sort of "rent" until you get a job somewhere else or have enough money to live on your own.

Serious / First *full body transplant* to occur in 2017« on: April 10, 2015, 01:55:05 PM »
Popped up on Reddit recently, and this sciency article explains how they are going to transplant a 30 year--old paraplegic's head onto a brain dead body, around 2017, as someone recently volunteered for it (a not-so sciency article).
Main points below: Quote The idea was first proposed in 2013 by Sergio Canavero of the Turin Advanced Neuromodulation Group in Italy. He wants to use the surgery to extend the lives of people whose muscles and nerves have degenerated or whose organs are riddled with cancer. Now he claims the major hurdles, such as fusing the spinal cord and preventing the body's immune system from rejecting the head, are surmountable, and the surgery could be ready as early as 2017. TLDR: FULL FUCKING BODY TRANSPLANT, AS IN CUTTING OFF A HEAD AND SHOVING IT ONTO ANOTHER BODY, SOONISH So, we are heading into a Sci-Fi dystopian novel with this barely being considered possible with today's medical technology and techniques. What do you think? 4134
