This little thing the Irish government has is great: https://www.dfa.ie/travel/travel-advice/

Just click and look. A quick rundown showed that we treat the US and the UK with the same general advice, and places like Israel and Palestine as no-go areas.

Is there going to be a separate Fallout thread once the game is released?

I'm lovin' the Fallout banter here, but I don't want to spoil any of the game if I'm getting it later.

Just watch out. In skipping, it auto-fails the previous main mission. Btw, the Rivet City history can be found out without talking to her, but thought you needed a heads up in case of this flaw.
I already spoke to her--that's what I was saying. I honestly don't think I skipped anything, though. Hopefully. I dunno, we'll see.

Wait, what?

Oh shit. That's weird.

Seeing as it's appeared to turn out ok, I'll fill you in a little bit. After completing GNR, 3-Dog gives you a lead to Rivet City. Technically you can just stop the GNR quest right now and carry on with Scientific Pursuits, but it makes more logical sense to carry on as you are with GNR.

Sorta. I guess you just skipped at the perfect moment where it doesn't totally fuck everything up.

Ah, a visit to Rivet City conflicts with one of the main quests. You need to know this rather than spoiler'd because otherwise you'll skip/fuck up the GNR quest.

Actually...just don't talk to Dr. Li in the Science Labs. DO NOT TALK TO DR LI.

I did that by accident on my first playthrough and it fucked up the main questline a bit...so much so, that I went straight from "Get Moriarty money" to "Go to [place I can't tell you] to find Dad" and never knew the GNR station, or Super Mutant Behemoths existed.

It was years later on a re-playthrough I realised I'd actually missed a significant portion of the game. So yeah, DON'T TALK TO DR LI. At least until you complete GNR.
Wow, that's fucked up. Seems like an easily preventable thing, too--just make it so Dr. Li doesn't say anything to you until you finish the right quests.

But yeah...

About not talking to Dr. Li...

Don't worry--like I said, I already spoke to Three Dog at GNR. He gave me my mission. I'm not heading to GNR right now--I'm heading to the spot Three Dog wants me to go, which is the Museum of Technology. Rivet City is en route.

I didn't see any other route, so this must be the correct path. If not... that's some fucked up game design right there.

Just watch out. In skipping, it auto-fails the previous main mission. Btw, the Rivet City history can be found out without talking to her, but thought you needed a heads up in case of this flaw.

Even though they're dumb, I think Mirelurks are my favorite enemies in the game.

First time I saw one, I freaked. All the legs and... crustacean-y bits. Urgh. Shotguns to the face are my recommendation. Hell, anything directly to the face does it, as long as they're reeeeaaaally far away.

Fun fact: Mirelurk Kings (if you haven't met one yet, you will... slightly less ugly fuckers) are apparently from irradiated sea turtles, whereas Mirelurks themselves are, well, enlarged angry horseshoe crabs from 40,000 leagues under the sea.

now she wants me to place an observer in a mirelurk pod--without killing any mirelurks

Mined PC terminals are rare, but can be disarmed by activating the back panel if you can. Honestly it's better just leaving them, once defused the terminals are useless and you can live without frag grenades.

There is a way you can monitor the pods without killing anything if you don't blindly follow the quest marker, but I won't tell you how because spoilers.

Well, that was expected considering they were called out on it on a joint Kurdish raid recently. Does this mean the UK is gonna be roped in too?

I was gonna post a Team America pic, but somebody already beat me to it:

Anywho, how does this tie-in with the civil war and the ruling Assad family? They just gonna target ISIS and leave once they're clear?

Saw it today as well.

I thought it was good, but I think Skyfall was better. Liked the whole linked story between the previous villians in Craig's timeline of Bond, but Christopher Waltz wasn't evil as he could've been as an actor.

Still good.

Mojang

...

What?

They listen to reasonable suggestions, easy to communicate to and have constant updates/bug fixes at no extra cost from the original release of the game.

That's good dev'ing if I've ever seen it.
But Minecwaft hasn't been updated in like a year...

Because a small lapse from the normal means they're bad?

And there has been progress all the way through last year. They still release snapshots every week.

Good that I'm one to buck that trend. 7A's, a few B's and a C here (not that they mean jack shit anymore, what with being in Uni now and all).

Same goes for my brother, hopefully. If my mum doesn't beat it into him that living a low-class life isn't all great, I sure will.

I wasn't even aware the EU had brought charges against him to begin with. All EU states should still honor extradition treaties regardless of this vote, however.
Yeah, I hadn't realized that, either.

But more importantly, I feel like this is little more than a symbolic vote. From the sound of it, it's more like a suggestion than an order. I imagine most countries would still extradite him if given the opportunity.

And the UK as always will ignore it because of conflicting interests.

There's always one homeless (by Fallout standards...he's like really homeless) dude outside the main towns (Megaton, Tenpenny Tower, and Carlos outside Rivet City) who will never stop wanting water. They are solely there for karma whoring. Kill a bunch of dudes? Just shower the guy in water and you're a saint again.  My main criticism of Fallout 3 is the black-white no-context karma system, but a minor one at best. Also, the whack-a-mole stick is supposed to have that hilarious bloody mess equivalent.

Waterbeggars DLC spoiler
Micky at Megaton is used a start for a sidequest after you get the memorial going in the base game and you re-visit Megaton afterwards, though he probably doesn't like that the only time residents come out to help is when they kill him with some heavily irradiated water...

I'm actually surprised the Outcasts dealt some damage to a Deathclaw. Normally they're just elitist pricks who get killed by everything apart from raiders, and Deathclaws should be the furthest away from an exception.

It would've been great if it had a playerbase, as the AI are absolutely shite.

If the AI were a lot more competent the game would've been a sort of post-apocalyptic/recovery TF2 with freerunning.

Anyone else find it hard to believe that he just leaves stocks of Med-X lying around and doesn't sell it?

Drugs have some of the best caps-to-weight ratio, but to be fair he's playing the game to see how it is rather than exploiting the game mechanics/attributes to make a fast cap.

Exploitative story spoiler
Same way you can repeat killing the Enclave garrisoned at Jefferson Memorial in the final quest for power armour/plasma weapons/MF cells and subsequent caps for selling them.

It would be funny to see you play as a Bad Karma character, I've a feeling you'd squirm the whole way through it.

It's not even about the drugs thing, it's just purposely limiting your playstyle. Eh, carry on.
I wouldn't say I'm doing that. The way I look at it is this--the game is all about choice. You can do whatever you want, as long as you're mindful of the consequences. And since the game is just chock-full of shit to do, it really lets each player have his or her own little experience with the game, and no two people are gonna have the same playthrough. Not even close.

I appreciate that the game gives me the choice not to use drugs, instead of making them a necessary component of the game. The fact that they give you that choice, to me makes me feel more enriched, not less. Because I'm given the opportunity to play as myself, rather than being told that I can't have fun unless I do x thing. That's probably the best part of the game, so far, if not the best thing about RPGs in general.

So since the game allows you to express yourself, which is a very beautiful thing, it would be more limiting not to express myself, or to play the game in a way that I don't actually believe in.

A fair point, can't argue with that.

...but why not drugs though? Chill, I'm only fucking with you.

Verb.

Just remember that you made Moriarty money by selling him those cigarrettes. Because he just sold them to someone else for a higher price.

GG
Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. You can't prove that. I know he smokes.

It's Moriarty. He's that Irish bastard that maintains the stereotype by running a bar and promoting all manner of debauchery. (and also somehow survived the worse post-apocalyptic life in Ireland, and travelled all the way to the East Coast...)

I'll bet if he was a real character (rather than an NPC strictly following some scripts), he'd sell them off for twice as much to one of the dregs in his pub. You know the quest with him to find your father, did you pay him straight off for the info or not?

Super stimpacks in NV are addictive on non hardcore, I cant remember if super stims are in 3 though
There are no super stims on 3.

The addiction system is quite annoying. You can't even drink a single beer without being addicted, and it makes any benefits of alcohol (game wise) totally useless.
