Am I just an asshole for thinking that these moderate Muslims that are fleeing from Islamic government tyranny should group together and fight for their own land back instead?
That's what quite a lot did in Syria IIRC, which is why support for any one group was stalled as no-one could tell who were "the good guys" of the rebels. We can see how that went.

If I handed you 1000 grapes and said 2% are poison, would you eat any of them?
I would if I took the time and effort to check them.

just looking for some company. company Of course, what people look for on such an app is just "company". It's your choice of course, but I highly doubt it's just company the guy is looking for. Sounds like something would say to "get in the door".

I'm all for the "particular scrutiny" part. I mean, that's what they're supposed to be doing anyway when a refugee/economic migrant comes across the border, particularly when there's no documentation on them.
Bolting the door closed is not going to just alleviate the problem.

We'll get to a stage where profile pictures are just black with all the filters for events applied to them. Already there's people in my FB feed with the gay pride and french flag filter shoved on top of each other.
A show of solidarity is nice but not very useful. Aid, monetary or military support would be better.
Considering the majority of people are not in such a position, it still is some support to show they're united.
The fact some people are already getting upset over pictures after it JUST happened is freaking weird.
People can still care without telling everyone like it matters. And it applies more to countries for the latter point.

Anything with cheese or fried.
Saganaki is the best, because both.

It should be pointed out that this was planned before the attacks in Paris, albeit it was probably moved forward in the schedule. Also, France has had a bombing campaign for ages, hence the attacks.
That said, bonne chance to them, they needed that publicised as a morale boost more than anything else (consider the kills a bonus).

I have a question for those who disagree.
What other group of religious people at this time attack other people this frequently and violently? Attacks on innocent civilians solely to scare people?
I'd point towards the UDF and IRA. It moved on from a fight about land to bombings based on whether you were Catholic or Protestant. Hell, many people in Belfast share that hostile sentiment and judge your religion just by your name.
AT THIS TIME
NOT TEN OR TWENTY YEARS AGO
Why does that make it irrelevant?
And FYI, UDF are still around, and the IRA is just replaced by some more thugs. Not on a scale of the troubles sure, but fresh in minds of the many victims and survivors there.
Setting a bullshit time-scale just because it doesn't suit your views is dishonest.
Because I'm talking about now. About yesterday.
IRA doesn't do shit anymore. Any Christian terrorist groups are barely anything compared to the Muslims.
LOL Ignoring recent history simply to keep your viewpoint going is just ridiculous. I see there was no plan to have true discourse here about it, at least with you. Ta-ta!

Rather saddened yesterday night. That's passed now, just as I see the waves of attention whores pretending to care. Spoiler I'm not bothered by the people legitimately caring about it, but we all know "those" people who have no shame in like-farming this sorta thing... More worrying is that I'm going to France in a month.

Or full blown deployment, this is probably least likely France doesn't have the economic means
They don't spend much money on military? They should, especially after all this shit.
Their military is more than capable of destroying Isis, it's just that a full scale invasion into Syria would be very expensive and they'd have to stick around afterwards to rebuild. That shit is very expensive
Well...they do kind of have the UN and whatnot to back them up.
That's pretty ineffective. See: Massacres in the Balkans, 90's.
I mean I don't really know how things on the multinational level are handled...
Typically really bad. It's unlikely France would go all out on their own, rather have talks with the other parties involved (US, UK, Russia) and see if they all agree to back them up, and then declare it. Jordan on the other hand is quite content with having the King himself bombing ISIS from his planes.

My roommate says they burn them every year, much to the Malaysian government's annoyance because of the smog and health problems.
It's only this time the smog is affecting themselves rather than someone else.
See, this is why Asians hate each other.

100 in the theatre summarily executed, including children.
>children at a death metal concert
Should clarify; children inc. in the death count. Don't know where, not that entirely matters.

UPDATE: Atleast 100 confirmed dead inside the concert hall.
Hundreds injured and out. Hostage situation is over.
Jesus fucking Christ. Just checked on the BBC, they just said 140 were killed in total (so far), 100 in the theatre summarily executed, including children. Normally I'm not shaken by this sorta thing but... fuck.
