I don't see why you keep repeating this, I haven't stated anything but the facts.

None have qualified regardless of my or your opinion on the matter, so it's business of usual.

chill out man.

what "facts" are you referring to? that no woman has qualified? he acknowledges that.

Oh I'm chilled out, though somewhere my text ain't reflecting that.

TNG>DS9.

Can't go much further as I'm marathoning through them, with little interest in TOS or Enterprise.

But those (women) who do pass have every right to fight on the battlefield.

But as shown, none have.
Then there's no problem and all of you have nothing to worry about.

But when and if one does, she deserves a spot in infantry, same as any man.
"men and women should be treated and viewed as exact equals even though it's been proven time and time again they aren't and I accept this, but I'm still going to whine"
They should be treated as equals under the law, of course.

And they have. They didn't qualify.
And they shouldn't get in. Only those who pass the qualification requirements should. If that's no current women, then none should be able to enlist. If a woman does eventually qualify, then she should be able to serve on the front lines, same as any man.

Do you guys dislike Fallout 4 just as much as me?!

While the settlement stuff is rather overwhelming, I enjoy playing.

I still haven't started Far Harbour as I'm going through the campaign, vanilla side quests and creating a robot transport network for my settlements from Automaton. Had a brief glance at Vault 88 and realised it would be a huge time and resource sink, and have left it for when I finish everything else.

I'll admit that the DLC has been dissapointing as most of it is settlement expansion packs when I was thinking it would be more like Fallout 3/NV's new stories (though Automaton was a decent mix of the two). I can see why they've pushed it like crack though, to some people it's addictive and adds a inumerable amount of hours of gametime scouring the Wastes for resources and planning the perfect settlement, but a lot came for the "Fallout" bit, and thought Fallout Shelter dabbled enough into micromanagement.

Gen 2 and a lot of the Gen 3 Hoenn games are pretty much fucked, especially trying to find a copy that works if you don't have one already.

Surprised yours lasted as long as it did, I couldn't find one with a working battery when I looked, and that was in like 2010.

that's so dumb

are the DS games going to be like that in 10 years
no they use flash memory so don't need a battery

Different problem.

Flash memory starts failing past 10,000 read/writes. Not sure what sort of a timescale that is for games, but they aren't incorruptible.

Does this mean I'm indirectly one of the best users?

Depends.

I got no vote from both sides, so I'm neutral/unnoticeable.

I'm getting confused by all this now.

Oh great, so we get to wander through New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina.

But seriously, New Orleans doesn't really make sense as a location. Those levees would be smashed by the nukes and for 2/3 of the map you'd be swimming from house to house to loot and kill swamp raiders. We'd have a return of the mutated hicks from Point Lookout, and maybe some random french people with a ghoul Mardi Gras festival.

The Flood / Re: I need help! Vegan help!
« on: August 13, 2016, 02:20:03 PM »
the simple idea that snake was trying to express was that it's possible to support veganism as a philosophical idea or ethical movement without actually being a vegan yourself
So basically, you can be an animal rights activist while still eating animals yourself.

You know, people have been doing this in the mainstream since the 60's at least.
if you support the cause, but are too weak to be a vegan yourself, there's three things you can do
- be an advocate, have discussions, spread awareness
- don't have kids
- if you have kids, raise them vegan

if you can't at least raise your children vegan, then yeah, you're pretty useless to the cause

How does not having kids factor in to supporting veganism? Is it the whole "Life is suffering", and so creating life is akin to ending it prematurely (and then eating it)?

Serious question, as it just sounds like it stems from your belief of anti-natalism which is another ideal of its own.

I love poison I slurp it up every day with a smile

am I cool yet

I take it you didn't watch the video seeing as GM foods are mentioned for a grand total of 30 seconds in a 16min clip and will be covered in an entirely separate video.

I drank like three bottles of beer and then stared at my hands for an hour because I believed I could notice the delayed reaction moving my hands and seeing it happen.

Such a lightweight first time.

Serious / Genetic Engineering, Pt. II - CRISPR & CAS9
« on: August 10, 2016, 08:53:15 AM »
Part I Here:
This infovid came up recently and I thought it was interesting enough to warrant some discussion, ranging from disease curing, food production to super-soldiers and Gattaca-resembling dystopias:

YouTube

So, your thoughts?

TLDR: Genetic Engineering looks pretty good to me.
Seeing as it's just a refinement of previous methods of GM going back centuries and potential benefits being expanded for wider use, I'm not particularly against anything mentioned. It may be a tad too optimistic at the end for me but we're already at a stage where the most beneficial aspects of GM are within reach, or are already in use such as treatment of diseases and GM foods.

Even if all that is a near-lifetime away from us yet, the discovery of CRISPR and it's applications into genetic engineering will be a net positive.

Part II: Genetically engineering Mosquitoes to eradicate Malaria, among other diseases.
YouTube

And to carry on that final point in the video, do you think it's a good thing or a bad thing to release these GM'd, malaria-free mosquitoes to dominate the natural gene pool?

TLDR; yeah, with consideration and trials
Being a relatively new avenue of research into genetic modification and the already proven benefits of it, I think it's worth doing, and later after successfully eradicating it moving on to the other diseases insects spread. BUT, I'd expect several more years of small scale tests to see whether Malaria (or the other diseases) evolve to counteract this, which could make it worse in terms of transmitting the disease e.g. going airborne/waterborne and expanding it's reach on the population. Or, if another completely unexpected side-effect results in Mosqi-Mutoes/i].

As and when new Genetic Engineering videos come up, I'll post em here.

So what I gathered by skimming the OP is that people whose smaller communities are directly effected by mass immigration tend to not like their hometown changing while those unaffected or in major metropolitan areas call them racists and tell them to get over it, and they both vote on reforms according to these beliefs.

Basically.

Up north (where a lot of people voted leave) there's loads of small towns that have been essentially taken over by immigrants and gradually the towns have turned shit with businesses closing down and the areas turning rough. Regardless if that's the actual cause it is percieved as being the root proboem and many people don't like it.
Well unfortunately leaving the EU won't change that. Because they'll keep flooding in. Illegally, now.

Or through a "Brexit- non-Brexit", where the UK agrees freedom of movement as a concession for trade with the EU.

Now that would piss off the most people if these surveys are to be believed that most leavers had immigration as the highest reason for leaving in the first place, and would piss off remainers because they'd technically still be in the EU but without far less voting power than before.

A Brexit-non-Brexit would basically leave Britain as the EU's bitch, and I don't think either side of the fence wanted that.

Well, that's what you get for drinking vodka. It's fucking paint thinner, and tastes like it too.
Fuck you I love it

You sure do love them vodka hangovers too, I betchya. Worst hangover out of all the alcohols, barring out-of-date wine.
Tequila ones are πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ

Eh, they aren't so bad. Drinking too many bad pints of Guinness does about the same but with a sore stomach and the room smelling like a brewery in the morning.
I've yet to try draft beers. Are they any better than the shit in a can beers?

Guinness is more of a stout than a beer, but anything is better than canned lagers. Can't recommend any specifically as I don't really variate from what I get regularly.

For Support I have two setups, one for charging and anti-camping, the other for camping.
Charging: L86A2 w/ foregrip, Holo-sight and laser sight, with ammobox and XM25 (frags or smoke)
Camping: T88 w/bipod, with ammobox and C4.

For Assault, gun choice is down to whether I want M26 MASS, M320, or neither;
The Former: SCAR-H w/ UGL rail, coyote sight, tri lasers and heavy barrel, with health bags and M26 MASS
The Latter: L85A2 w/ ironsights, laser sight, heavy barrel and UGL rail, with health bags and M320
Neither: M416 w/ kobra sights or ACOG, foregrip, laser sight and suppressor, with health bags and Defibs.

For Engi it's always the UMP45, with either AA, AT or repairs in mind (with EOD bot for lols)

Recon: M40A5 or L115 for long range, SKS for med range, AK5C with smoke grenades, spawn beacon and C4 for playing Rush.

If you wanna go spastic, shove on a shotgun with ACOG and canted sights and C4 just to fuck with people.
