Serious / Re: Why is Globalism bad?

Conflicts of interest.

Just look at the EU. What's good for the collective isn't necessarily good for the individual. I'm not personally against it...until it fucks me over.

Unlikely that there'd ever be some sort of Star Trek-type government running the whole Earth through peace and equality, more likely you'd have one country just take over everywhere else and erase previous ideals and culture with their own.

How do I use console commands if we are, fam?

Where do I go to activate the Communist Invasion termination program?

Find a brick, a bottle, a gnome and a radio that hum when you touch them.

Not enough bugs to be a simulation.

And y'know what, I haven't watched that video either.

What DAS said.

Have shitty internet so the time between tapping on the Sep7agon logo for the mail icon to drop down and tap on is longer than the page can redirect you.

The Flood / Re: how close have you been to dying?
« on: August 29, 2016, 09:09:02 PM »
Been shocked by the mains twice three times. This isn't America's nice and friendly 110 Volts, 240 really fucking stings. First time I was about 2 and was sitting in a puddle (I used to live in a shitty leaky house in a bog), and the water apparently connected to the electricity. Parents were nearby and saved me, somehow.

Second time was two or three years ago, flipped a switch for the outside lights in my house during a heavy storm, the switch was wet and I wasn't paying attention. Was able to spaz myself off the switch and fall over.

Third time was last year. Spark button on a gas cooker at my rented house stopped working and I tried to unscrew the panel to fix it (it had broken before and just needed a spring to be re-positioned so the button would work). Used my Swiss army knife to get the screws out and fork-out the spring, accidentally hit the wire... or whatever the electrical component of the sparker is, spazzed, dropped the knife and fell over again.

Oh, and I was nearly hit by a car after cycling out of a path into a road. My stupid fault.

Otherwise, I don't think I've been exposed to much mortal danger.

Present-ism.

It's not fair to compare something like the original Space Invaders to the modern equivalent;

...simply because the time difference in between and the developments in technology and ideas that have been realised in that time.

That said,a game can be shit regardless of it being the first in a series or the last for it's time, just as prequels can be better or worse than the original. E.g:

Deus Ex - Considered amazing then and now, although a bit dated since it's release in 2000
Deus Ex: Invisible War - Ok on it's own, though had serious issues as a result of having consoles as the lead platform. Shit as a Deus Ex game.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Considered very good, although had some criticisms which were later addressed in the Director's Cut.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Recently released, so far has received "favourable reviews", with mixed reactions by customers.

TLDR; A game can be shit if it's the first of the series. Doesn't mean it can apply to the whole of the franchise, and if the time difference between them is large, certain concessions such as graphics (NOT story, depth of characters, game-breaking bugs, etc)  have to be given.

Well, it would hardy make sense to have a WWI-era themed game only to have "WUBWUBWUBWUB-BZZZZTBZZZZT!WUBWUBWUBWUBWUB"

As orchestral and classical as it sounds, I feel it could do with some good ol' fuzzy scratches as if played on a record player:

The Flood / Re: Who was a more formidable enemy? Germany or Japan?
« on: August 25, 2016, 04:23:02 PM »
Germany, mostly due to their over-engineered marvels of technology. Tigers, Panthers, literal rail-guns, jets, early ICBM's. Death and destruction through mechanisation.

But by raw man power? Japan. Quoting Thulsa Doom; What is steel compared to the hand that wields it? The country had it's people fighting out of of fear and survival, even if it wasn't strictly true that the Americans would steamroll them. I would say the Germans had a marked determination on the East front because slavs.

Currently on the ferry on the way home after visiting family in Ireland. Think I might do my Masters there, if I survive my Bachelors first.

Also sorting out moving into new Uni house for September, and planning my dissertation for the area I mapped over Summer.

Busy.

If anything I'm more serious here because I'm chill as fuck irl and don't have much to say.

The Flood / Re: Would you snitch on your best friend?
« on: August 24, 2016, 07:14:27 PM »
Probably. They did torture someone, let alone kill them. That's not just merciless revenge from someone who wants it over and done with to move on with their lives for whatever reason, that's OTT brutality.

It would have to be a seriously good justification for it, like they'd murdered his entire family, but knowing my best friend, I doubt anything that has happened to him could justify such a scenario.

Deus Ex - MD. Just released, just won't be getting it any time soon

Also BF1, if it somehow lives up to hype.

Father's:
Quote
O'Donnell - The descendants of Donal, an ancient Irish family, who trace their descent through Donal to Niollus Magnus, the ancestor of the O'Neills, known as Nial Niagallach, Nial of the nine hostages. The O'Donnells ruled the territory of Tirconnell, for thirteen generations. (See Donald.)

Also part of the O'Mahony's, which comes from Mahon - Bear.

Mother's:
Quote
Williams is a patronymic surname derived from the forename William. Its early origins are in medieval England, but the primary source of the surname is from Wales, where most surnames were adopted between about 1500 and 1800. Before surnames were common in Wales people were known by patronyms, such as Owain ap William (Owain son of William). Depending on the region and time period, the surname may or may not have been adopted with a 's' suffixed. Those holding the surname 'William' (without a trailing 's') are likely to originate in parts of Wales with a reduced exposure to English customs.
The prevalence of the name can be explained by the populaces tenancy to name children after English monarchs.
Early renderings include:
Henricus Williames, 1275, Lay subsidy of Worcestershire
Margeria Williames, 1327, Lay subsidy of Worcestershire
Johannes fil. Willelmi, 1379, Poll Tax of Yorkshire

These fuckers.

Sure, Deathclaws and Cazadores are annoying because they take huge chunks of health off you and are extremely agile, but they have weaknesses, either the legs or the wings which leave them as easy pickings.

Fucking scorpions have no real weakspot and just sponge damage. The limbs are all made of fucking adamantium so they rarely cripple, they can outrun you, and in Fallout 4, they can outsprint you by digging and resurfacing next to you because fuck you they weren't annoying enough and now have to be killed in staggered events.

Stingers are poisonous, and also use the claws for some bonus damage. It can get to a point where the poison stings damage more than a stimpak can heal it, and carrying poison cures isn't viable because they don't appear that often enough.

Only weakspot is the game mechanics. Jumping on a rock or out of bounds area makes them leave you alone or pace around allowing for potshots, but good luck finding one before they get you, the armoured exoskeletonised bastards.

Gaming / Re: PS+ Price increasing
« on: August 24, 2016, 05:13:15 AM »
I'd love if they have a cheaper (or hell, free like it was on PS3) alternative where I just had online and wasn't getting "extras" like monthly games and "exclusive" pointless walpapers and themes.

I don't want or need any of those things, but because it's in a shitty bundle, there's no choice.

Even if this doesn't affect EU/UK yet, it's  shitty. I haven't heard about any justification for it, so what stops them from raising the prices eleswhere?

Specialist.

At least with knowledge of one topic I can make use of it.

E.g. Electrician or Chef over... basic knowledge of how electricity works and  only a mastery of toasters.

Plus basically what Pip said. General knowledge can be gleaned from watching the Discovery Channel, while specialising takes serious effort.

nuka cola spoilers

Spoiler
they fucked up x01 lore YET AGAIN
Spoiler
what did they do to it now
Spoiler
apparently the nuka cola company SOMEHOW got their hands on a set of X01 power armour and applied a paint job to it despite the fact that x01 was developed by the fucking enclave AFTER the war

Fucking really?
people on reddit have the beta and that's what they've said

I don't understand how that breaks canon.

Spoiler
The Atom Cats exist and create post-war paintjobs, it's perfectly believable that someone copied the Nuka Cola artwork (literally pasted everywhere, let alone in Nuka World) and applied it post-war to existing power armour, including X-01's. We already get Vault Tec, Abraxo Cleaner, Sugar Bomb designs and pre-war hotrod paint jobs from magazines already... why doesn't this extend to an iconic drinks company in the fallout Universe?

Sounds like the lessers of the Reddit-Hive scrounging for anything to add to the hate Fallout 4 pile so they can bask in bandwagon karma.
Spoiler
This Nuka-Cola X01 is from pre-war similar to the Vim power armour from Far Harbour, which is impossible. Besides, the entire concept of the Atom Cats is dumb and further highlights how Bethesda don't give a fuck about the canon. Power armour shouldn't be so accessible to the point that you have a small group make money off of painting it for people.

Ok, fair enough.

That's a tad fucked.
