The Flood / Re: Most degenerate thing someone from your school ever did?
« on: October 05, 2016, 05:46:51 PM »
Kids rubbed shit on the walls of the boys toilets.

An LSA for a special needs kid had her period on a seat. No pads or anything, pretty bloody.

Teacher stalked some of the older girls at school. Eventually got arrested for owning paedo shit on his laptop.

Kid with Aspergers headbutted a window until it broke, one of the double glazed ones. Ouch.

A large brick shithouse of a kid with down syndrome nearly suffocated two kids (one under each arm) because they were his friends and he decided put his arms around them and squeeze a biiit too much.

You work for someone else's convenience in the same way several people have worked for yours.

e.g.
You went to the shops to buy fruit juice
-Who cultivated that fruit
-Who transported that fruit to a factory
-Who built the machine that juices the fruit
-Who packaged the juice
-Who designed the packaging to hold the juice
-Who transported that to the shops
-Who's running the store/manning the tills to sell you the juice

That book you're reading
-Who wrote it
-Who published it
-Who cut the trees for the paper
-Who runs/works at the paper mill
-Who got the ink to print onto the paper
-etc,etc...

Work may not always be fulfilling (working a dead-end job at a factory sounds pretty boring), but it gives you the money to fund what you find fulfilling, with resources that you otherwise wouldn't have or couldn't make yourself.

Or you could be a hermit.
Retard.

? ? ?
no one's saying it doesn't make sense

some songs are just SUPER overused in movies

The day movies stop showing a panoramic view of London with "London Calling" in the background is the day the world ends.

I know this is a joke thread but fuck historical accuracy

idc if the world was shitty in WWI and there were no black or female soldiers, it's 2016 and current games depicting that time period shouldn't be that way
Some people actually play WW1 and WW2 games for the recreation of historical battles. If you think a game needs to have black people or females so as to not be misogynist or sexist, you need to get your priorities straight.

To be fair, they could have the British Commonwealth soldiers (Sikhs, Indians, and Pakistanis), the French-Algerians, etc fighting in the Mediterranean and the Eastern battlefields.

Whether they choose to include them and put the extra work in involved is an entirely different matter.

Serious / Re: Earth passes 400 PPM Carbon Dioxide Threshold
« on: September 30, 2016, 08:19:39 PM »
And now everyone's an environmentalist. lol
For real, 400 ppm is minuscule.

And nitrogen is 780,000 ppm in our atmosphere and is equally, if not more effective at trapping radiant heat than CO2.

That's beside the point.

The oceans and the tectonic cycle play a vital part in regulating CO2 in the atmosphere. If the CO2 ppm's rise rapidly (i.e., now), the cycle of CO2 being absorbed in the oceans, deposited in the seabed and dragged back into the mantle will be imbalanced, and is already evidenced by the coral bleaching of the seas. Unless tectonic activity increased to accomodate it, it's not going to be getting better anytime soon.

More CO2 in the atmosphere > Faster absorption rate of CO2 in the oceans > Higher concentrations of carbonic acid in the sea > coral bleaching, and a shit-ton of other detrimental effects (acid and sealife don't mix very well... unless it's already on a plate with lemon garnish).

And this is completely ignoring Methane, ~4 times as effective an insulator, and emissions are at an all time high because of the cattle industry (and, probably a lot of other things).

Honestly? Climate change will suck balls, but I don't think we'll actually go extinct from it. TBH, with the scientific boom we're going through right now, chances are we'll just be able to genetically modify ourselves to have gills by the time shit starts getting really bad. Personally, I think that the 21st century will see the fall of democracy. If the US is the SPQR, then this will be the century it goes full Roman Empire, which in modern terms I would assume equivocates to National Socialism. This is a very scary thought. Sure, we all like to meme about "muh hitler did nothing wrong", but it's all fun and games until these people get actual power and the Gestapo comes knocking at your door.
The fuck are you talking about.
Our democracy has become increasingly corrupt and inefficient. If things keep going the way they currently are, then people are going to get extremely fed up with it. When the normies start to go full /pol/, there's going to be hell to pay.

Hooray, we're fucked. Not like that was any new news on the CO2 front.

I think most of them deny that it's man made. Because at one point earth was really hot. There was brutal weather. There was rising sea levels. I think. And then it got cold. Ice ages and all. Now they say we're going through the "hot phase again" I swear I saw some guy on a video say that awhile back. That was his reasoning.

And ignorance is the final front. True, most if not all of those rises in temperature were due to an increase in CO2, but the key point is these were entirely natural, linked to increased volcanism (famously the Siberian Traps cautiously linked to the P/T Extinction Event, and the Deccan Traps occurring within the same timeframe as the extinction of the Dinosaurs in the K/T Extinction Event). That shit occurred over thousands, if not tens of thousands of years... rather than a comparatively short two centuries. If anything, the Earth is going to get tectonically calmer with  future periods of increased volcanism being pale in comparison to the past.

It should also be noted that in actuality, due to Milankovitch Cycles interfering with each other, we should be going into a cold phase right around now (give or take 10,000 years).

Whatever album Beck releases next. So far he's teased "Dreams", "Wow" and "Up All Night", but hasn't announced the album title or release date yet.
And it's been a while since Dreams
Wow is more recent, and Up All Night streamed a few days ago.

I'd give you a link for the latter, but apparently it only lasted a day.
I just checked out Wow and I feel weird
Like or no?

Personally I quite enjoy it, has Beck-like barely comprehensible lyrics, but shoving it into a stereotypical song you might hear on the radio today.

1251
Better examples would involve enemies with giant erect penises dangling grotesquely on their bodies.
Know any? I don't play a large amount of games so most of the extremes I know are due to its "wtf-ness". Seriously.

Quote
...hardly equivalent to giant demon portal tits.
Devil's advocate, but female breasts are a problem with people sexualising them in the first place rather than being an actual sexual organ. When I start seeing female villians waving grotesque blue waffle vaginas is when I'll be concerned.

Quote
CyberDemons do not make a grotesque out of the male body.

A fair point that I'll concede. Leaving Doom aside, would you accept Dead Space's... whatever the fuck they are's... as grotesque distorted male (and possibly female, never really got that far) bodies?

I think it was a bit reachy there.

While some stories for games are essentially a modification of classic ancient and misogynistic stories, that's more a problem of ancient culture than what is believed and followed today, and is an entirely different matter. I've read a few greek myths, and I don't "learn" anything from the story that women are using/abusing their sexuality to lure and harm men. It's just a story (and seeing as Anita's series is about misogony in video games, I don't see how its relevant).

Also I noticed:
>Vagary is an enemy using her gender as a sone sort of weapon.
>Is literally the only female enemy in Doom3.
>Ignores this guy , a male enemy using his male traits (increased muscle mass) to beat the living fuck outta you.
>I've not yet mentioned CyberDemons (basically abs with horns) or the Mancubus, a portrayal of a male demonic enemy so fat it's stomach festers and fires gaseous fireballs made from it's decaying flesh at you.

Anita can link back to Greek and religious mythology as much as she wants, but it's irrelevant in the context of videogames (unless it's something like God of War, a drop in an ocean of games not related to mythology, and I'm not entirely certain it's Greek mythology it's referencing)

Disclaimer
Drunk atm, so thoughts may not be as clear as I want them to be. Will debate/throw shit back later

I'm more offended that they didn't even add aliens
the fact that my people aren't being represented is a borderline hate crime

So you'd relish the thought of them being shot at, gassed, set on fire, roadkilled, bombed, skewered, etc.

I know equality is all nice and well, but you'd think not having your race being depicted in such scenes would be a lot better.

It's a war game man, you're going waaaaay too into it.

Destroy All Humans 3.

Bugs, poorly developed on original features, shite story, and even the graphics were questionably hazy for a PS3/'360 release.

Somehow by moving up a console gen it got downgraded as a game.

« on: September 27, 2016, 05:40:10 AM »
why is it so incomprehensible that people want to remain 100% dry

It is when there are less bulky and more effective solutions. Umbrellas are useless in:

-Winds
-"horizontal" rain

Both of which are almost always occurring in Wales (Cardiff is well known to be an umbrella graveyard). Feck off with that 100% dry bullshit.
