Sent you a PM.

EDIT: Issue's fixed, so I'm moving this to Support in case someone else has the same problem.

This happens on all three boards.
You mind if I take a ride in your account for a bit to see what's up?

Whenever I try to get on Updates, Gaming, or Support, I get the error message "The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you." Is there a reason for this?

« on: August 07, 2014, 04:32:06 PM »

Oh, yes, it's here too.

I want 100 posts first k?
I think you're a bit too late. There are a few members with more than that already...

I was told that it was a timed exclusive and that all players will get the special preorder skulls eventually.
Which should be the case for game-changing items.

I don't agree. But I don't want their religion religion to influence their whole political business, but that's nearly impossible.

Anyways, Cheat, are there gonna be more nameplates coming along? If so, are they gonna be priced at $1-$2 or so?
It's cool.

And yes, absolutely there are going to be more nameplates. Yes, there will be some available for a buck or two, but the majority of the nameplates will be free, or have certain requirements (like in Reach).

I am always open to suggestions for nameplates, and if anyone wants to design one it would be greatly accepted (most likely).

I just came back from Six Flags a few hours ago, where it was continuously raining. No lines at all for the rides, but on the flip side, the rain droplets turn into bullets while on a coaster.

So, pretty good.

Will we ever get a thread explaining the ranking system, like how there was that one thread on B.net?
There's an "in progress" one up in Updates right now.

Maybe I would make a good Mentor  ;D
I have a feeling that after a while, some of the users here will start to stand out with their colored user bars like in b.old. No special title required. 8)

Septagon / Re: Let's make this forum into a Democracy.
« on: August 07, 2014, 02:37:32 PM »
Then why not expand upon that idea and make a dedicated section so polls wouldn't clog up the main sections?
It's not needed at all. There have been very few polls suggesting changes to the forum (most of them go here or in The Flood, both of which I frequent and would quickly see). There's a pinned thread The Flood that literally asks what you want out of the forum, and as I've told you (and as you've already done here), you are free to make a poll for your ideas.

Septagon / Re: Let's make this forum into a Democracy.
« on: August 07, 2014, 02:31:46 PM »
What you're suggesting has actually been the case in a lot of the instances here. The first two mods were selected from the top picks in the moderator poll, and the Serious board was voted in, pretty much.

So, you're free to make a poll and check the forum's pulse, but these suggested ideas will still inevitably be filtered through the staff. Think of us as the ones with the veto power, I suppose.

News / Rank Information [Updated: 2015.7.12]
« on: August 07, 2014, 02:05:18 AM »

1. Ranking Up

Quote
Display Name | Respected Posting Frenzy

  • Rank on Sep7agon.net is, like many other online communities, determined by the number of posts one makes. To see your rank increase from "Newbie" to higher-tier ranks such as "Invincible", simply post regularly throughout the forums. Your rank, as demonstrated in the quote above by the green words, is the second set of words in your userbar.
  • Ranking up one's prefix, which is the title that comes in front of one's rank (colored pink in the example above), is an entirely different process. When you hit 100 posts, you will unlock the "Trust System". This allows you to either up or down vote a user once every twenty four hours - the more votes a person gets, the higher (or lower) their prefix will be. The Trust System can be located within a person's signature - simply click the down arrow in a person's userbar to find this.

2. Nameplates
  • Similar to the concept in Halo: Reach, nameplates are customizable additions added to the end of a person's userbar. There are a wide range of nameplates available for all members to use, which can be found in the "Nameplates" section of the profile drop down bar.
  • Occasionally, special nameplates will be added to gain entry into limited-time forums, such as the Anarchy Forum. Keep an eye out for announcements regarding this.

3. Userbars and Unlocking Customizing Options
  • The color of the one's userbar is tied directly to their Trust Prefix. Those with a negative trust will have black user bars, which become lighter as you rise through the positive levels. Once one hits Mythic, they will receive a blue userbar.
  • Sep7agon site staff can also have a custom colored userbar, no matter what their Trust Prefix is, to allow them to stand out in case they are needed. Forum Monitor's have a rust colored userbar, Forum Ninja's have a orange colored userbar, and the Forum Admin's have a gold.
  • There are also several customizable options for users to unlock, allowing them to customize the look and colors of their userbar. These options do stack, so in order to unlock one, you have to unlock the one before it. The customization options are as followed:
Quote
  • Custom Nameplate/Title Bar Colors: This option unlocks when one hits the Legendary prefix - in order to do so, this also requires one to have 3,000 posts. To enable your custom nameplate, select the "Imposter" nameplate and enter in a url for the image with the "Look and Layout" section of your profile.
  • Custom Title Bar Border: This option unlocks when one reaches the Mythic prefix, and can be customized in the "Look and Layout" section of your profile.
  • Custom Titles: This option unlocks when one reaches Marty. This will override your forum prefix and rank, replacing it with a custom title. To edit your custom title, head to your Forum Profile main page.

Septagon / Re: Site Maintenance
« on: August 07, 2014, 01:46:35 AM »
B.net would occasionally go down for maintenance. What happens during maintenance?
I've got a testing area that I use to tweak the larger updates, so most of the time you won't see anything unless you happen to be unfortunate enough to request a page when I'm uploading a file. But then all you need to do is refresh the page and you're good.

The larger updates will require maintenance, and will most likely be met with one of two things:

1. An in-site message that tells you the site is down and a login form for admins.
2. A blank white page with an explanation of why the site is down.

We're probably going to switch hosts again (I've found a higher-rated, more reasonable host and there's no sense in keeping this one), but when that happens, no message can be displayed because the URL Sep7agon.net won't go anywhere while we migrate.

But that's a few weeks away, most likely, and I'll tell you guys more as I know more.

Gaming / Re: Any games you're 'godly' at? Ever made a montage?
« on: August 07, 2014, 12:39:03 AM »
I was actually dubbed "Halo God" in my freshman year of high school because I was basically unstoppable at Halo 2. Admittedly, I never had the chance to play it online at the time because we didn't have DSL, but I could take on an entire four-player team at a LAN party and win.

I don't know where that skill went, because now I'm only "really good" at Halo 3, Reach, and 4. I am ranked 40th or so in the world for Mantis kills, so that's cool.

Oh boy... Alright then.

I don't think people who believe in a god/gods should be able to hold public office.

As someone's pointed out, you seem to want attention. I won't hold that against you though, because anyone who posts on a public forum wants attention in one form or another.

You're alright in my book.

Septagon / Re: What I'm Working On
« on: August 06, 2014, 10:58:41 PM »
In regards to the user links being hidden on mobile, I have temporarily fixed the issue until I can get a more elegant solution put up. A user's rank will no longer show up when the screen is phone sized. I know it sort of sucks, but this isn't forever and it keeps users from being locked out of editing/quoting in the meantime.

The Flood / Re: I'm a respected member now.

Actually.. Is there a thread saying how this all works? I want to know how titles work here.
I think I might have misplaced the thread I explained it in :(.

Basically, you have to have a few posts in order for the Trust rating system to pop up for you (to change other members' ratings). A member is allowed to rate another specific member once every 24 hours, and the prefixes are (currently) directly representative of your trust rating. This will change in the future, once I find time to tweak how they're computed.

Newbie, Member, and so-on are straight-up post-based.

I'll try to remember to make a thread about this in Updates tonight, so more people know what's going on.

The Flood / Re: My ban was retarded.
« on: August 06, 2014, 09:13:40 PM »
How is a 25-option poll exploiting it even remotely? Even the old Offsite had a cap of 50.

Is there some unspoken rule of the limit being 7 that I'm missing out on?
This forum has no cap as of yet, which implies you should use some common sense until I can implement a hard limit to keep polls like the ones you created from popping up.

Your 25 options were absolutely exploiting the poll system, which is, once again, why you were banned.

This is over now. Your ban is expired and you're free to post. If you'd like to continue this conversation, you may PM me.
