The Flood / Re: So, about this shitposting
« on: September 08, 2014, 07:40:58 PM »
Hello Mr Cheat,

It would appear my text is not orange and that I am not a Ninja. Please let me know when you will fix this issue.

Yours truly,
challengerX
I can't do orange, but I have this button here that will make your text red. Would you like me to push it?
Hey again,

I believe the Ninja color is orange. If I am mistake. Please send me a message ASAP.

Warm regards,
challengerX
Oh my god, you will not believe what happened! The Ninja machine caught on fire when I tried to give you orange text and it is completely ruined! Really sorry about this, man.

You seem to be obsessed with politics and have a superiority complex, but you make some quality posts so you're cool in my book.

But the shitpost are better than the other threads.

And seriously we need a waaaaaaahbulance board.
Nobody's really complained to me about a ban yet. I don't know about the other Ninjas, though.

That's pretty awesome, to be honest. I am impressed.

As a critique, the top right of the planet (where it meets the white glow and black of space) looks odd to me. It seems like it's outlined when it shouldn't be.

Anyway, what did you use to make this? Photoshop? GIMP?

The Flood / So, about this shitposting
« on: September 08, 2014, 07:25:50 PM »
Yeah, I know. Shitposting isn't against the rules because it can become a bit tricky figuring out which shitposters to ban and which ones are legitimate discussions. The Flood is for stuff that doesn't fit elsewhere, after all.

But...I'd like to direct your attention to this nice little open-ended rule in the rule thread:
Quote
Don't be a dumb ass
Every little thing isn't listed here, but get this: I own this forum. So, keep your head and accept the fact that your posts can be deleted and your account can be suspended or removed without warning.
I'm not saying I'll go so far as to ban your account if you post like you're a pimple-faced preteen, I'm just suggesting that these threads some of you are so fond of making might suddenly become locked or disappear completely. Like magic.

Besides that, Slash... Eh... I've seen Kiyo post some opinions that rustled some jimmies, so it'd be a bit of a double standard to prevent you from shitposting too, but Mods (and Monitors to a lesser degree) should probably exercise a little common sense and restraint while posting. You're a goddamn staff member with awesome orange text, so don't be a little bitch about it, Ninjas.

News / Maintenance Tonight
« on: September 08, 2014, 04:31:57 PM »
I just got an email from our host, and they'll be doing some maintenance tonight on the server we're hosted on. Don't freak out when the site goes offline; it's completely temporary and they say it should only last 30 minutes or so.

Quote
This email is notification of server maintenance tonight, 8 September, 2014, between 8:00 pm and 2:00 am MDT (UTC/GMT-6), for the server which hosts theflood.co.

The maintenance will include approximately 30 minutes of downtime during this time. None of your data will be lost, and any temporary performance issues you experience may be due to the maintenance process. This maintenance adds extra security and performance to your server.

We apologize for such short notice and for any inconvenience this may cause.

EDIT: I've backed up the forum and database, but I won't be doing any updates or changes tonight since it might interfere with the maintenance.

Septagon / Re: Youtube videos - "The message body was left empty"
« on: September 08, 2014, 03:22:33 PM »
Sometimes when trying to post a Youtube video, I get this error message, and then sometimes I have no problems at all. I am curious as to why I keep getting it, and if anyone else has experienced the same problem.

I've gotten this before, actually, and off the top of my head I have no clue why it's doing that.

If that happens again, would you try typing something under or above the Youtube code, posting, and then try to edit whatever you put in with the Youtube code out? I'd like to see what happens.

The Flood / Re: What's the weirdest thing you got off ebay?
« on: September 08, 2014, 03:18:59 PM »
I don't use it because I don't want to get scammed.
It's happened to me before, but eBay will reimburse you if someone doesn't deliver the right item to you. No hassle hardly at all; you just open a case against the seller and then wait.

>2014

FUCKINGLOL
It's where I buy a lot of my stuff. The eBay bucks are awesome, and if I don't have enough to make the $5 minimum at the end of the three month cycle, I just buy Amazon money and credit it to my account.

It's where I plan on buying Destiny from, actually (in a day or so, when the noobs who bought it and hate it try to sell it off).

The weirdest thing I bought was a badly-translated knockoff of Pokemon Fire Red half a year or so before its release in the USA.

What exactly do you need to get into Anarchy? I made my account yesterday, so it wouldn't let me in.
25 posts (which you now have).

« on: September 08, 2014, 01:18:19 AM »
If god is omniscience does that mean we don't have free will to begin with
Yeah, that's the issue I always run into when I try to reason a god out (at least when they're both omnipotent and omniscient). With something like that, it can be said that everything that happens is its will to happen, or else it wouldn't have.

Since it's the god's will, there's no room for free will; only the illusion of such.

The Flood / Re: Have you ever had a lucid dream?
« on: September 08, 2014, 01:15:46 AM »

This morning, my phone rang while I was sleeping, and in my dream, I got up to answer it and it was my father. After the call ended, I was standing there awake out of bed with my phone up to my ear, and I was actually talking to my dad. That was kinda fucking weird.
Sounds like you were half asleep / sleep walking.
I have no idea what lucid dreaming really is, because people always seem to give different descriptions of it.
It's like when something is meta. As soon as you become aware that you're dreaming, then you're lucid.

Like when doctors say "they're lucid," it means they are aware of the environment.

Ya, the trust system is kinda useless now, which is a good and bad thing.
Nah, being upvoted will get you to the higher ranks much faster than being active and posting a lot. Active members are just given an extra boost to get there.

Septagon / Re: Do we get custom nameplates at Heroic?
« on: September 08, 2014, 01:06:09 AM »
I could swear on my life I saw somewhere that Heroic + 3,000 posts = custom nameplates, but now I'm being told that got removed. What's up with that?
You're correct. There's a thread on this in Updates (the rank thread), though I really do need to make a separate thread for nameplates and such.

The feature that got removed was custom post colors, which was also at Heroic.

The Flood / Re: Have you ever had a lucid dream?
« on: September 08, 2014, 12:48:17 AM »
Yeah. I'm actually "good" at lucid dreaming. For some reason I check in my dreams to see if I can push my hand through my other hand, and if it goes through, then I'm dreaming.

90% of the time when I'm dreaming and I know it, I fly around like a tard. And for some reason there's always a black cat in my dreams. Just like a stray cat roaming around. It's weird.
Whenever I dream of flying it's less of a "zoom" and more of a DoDo plane from GTA III; the air is basically water and I have to swim through it, getting nowhere very fast at all.

The Flood / Re: Have you ever had a lucid dream?
« on: September 08, 2014, 12:46:01 AM »
I see a lot of people post about this but have you actually experienced one yourself?

I had one before and it was one of the most terrifying moments in my life. There's something really scary about not being able to decipher reality from the dream. At least in a conventional nightmare I know that it was all just a dream but in a lucid dream the line between the real world and the dream world is blurry. It gives me chills thinking about it.
Once, but I wish it would happen more often. It was about an alien invasion and I was only aware for a minute or so, but those were some interesting seconds.

Gaming / Re: What 360 Game should I buy?
« on: September 08, 2014, 12:43:23 AM »
Borderlands would be the much better option.

Destiny is more suited for PS4/XBone (and it seemed to have crappy connection issues on my 360 compared to my PS4).

Titanfall is VERY boring after a while.  I made a really long Facebook post about it before, so I won't do it again, but basically the mechs are the real meat and potatoes of the game, while the rest of the game is just about every-other-shooter-out-there-generic.  IW made a bad mistake of mixing the Multiplayer and Campaign together, so it's kind of bad from a story-telling perspective when you lose one game/chapter, and the next chapter there's no consequence from that loss.
Absolutely agree on Titanfall. It was awesome the first day or two, but after a week it just doesn't seem to draw you in. Their explanation for why they didn't put in a traditional multiplayer (people spend more time playing against each other than they would on campaign) was shit and sounded like they were too lazy to do it.

And as for the OP: if you haven't played Bioshock, do it. I am also a fan of [Prototype], which plays much like a mix of a Spider-Man game and Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. The story is actually kind of interesting and I can still have fun on it years after its release (though the graphics are bad).

I was wondering why Mentor/Ninja posts were looking so drunk...but then I refreshed and wasn't disappointed.

Refresh again.

I see this went to Support :/
I think Cheat said he wanted to unclutter things. I guess there were too many pinned thread in The Flood. Five does not seem like a lot to me, there were a bunch on bungie.net.
Eh, to each their own. This probably belongs here anyway; it's more for information than discussion.

How do people pay with cards at nice restaurants then? Y'know, not places where you swipe your own card like a neanderthal?
You go up, order your food, put your card into the reader, key in your PIN number, remove your card, go sit down and wait for your meal.
Sounds a bit like Hardees over here, and we definitely don't tip them for their service (at least I don't think that's a thing).
I forget they're still called Hardee's over on that side of the country.
I think it's weird that they're called Carl's Jr. 8)

I looked this game up and it got great reviews. I might have to look into buying a used copy, as they are mega cheap on Amazon and eBay.

OK, as long as nothing incredibly awesome pops up, I'll be changing the banner for Anarchy to Penguins next time. Maybe this can start to be a tradition or something: switching out the banner each month.
Wait, you're not gonna close the anarchy board for the week are you?
No.

Spoiler
I'm closing it for a month.
What the fuck, why? It's one of the few things this forum has going for it.
Because it was never meant to be open permanently, and keeping it open starts to drain activity on the other boards. It's essentially a harsher version of The Flood, and the two cannot run side-by-side without one slowly killing off the other. The event type it is meant to be keeps Anarchy from becoming overwhelming while giving you something to look forward to (if that place is your kind of thing).
