Hey guys, how about we remove the images when we're quoting somebody?

That would be FAAAN-tastic.
I can force them out if everyone is in agreement (the same CSS magic that limits quotes, so it'd apply everywhere). The downside is that it would be all or nothing.

For the Ignore/Mute feature, it would be exactly like a spoiler tag...only it would encapsulate the entire post (probably including the avatar and title bar). It wouldn't completely hide the post permanently until you disable the mute, but it would hide them from view initially, when you open a thread.

For the potential Coup/Buddy list feature, well, I don't really have a solid plan on that yet. If it did function essentially like a coup script that everyone has, then it would definitely not be turned on by default. You can opt in to see the crazy nameplates, or you can keep them off the buddy list and hide the customization.

I do recognize that enabling customization for each person would become tedious, so I may just end up trashing the buddy idea and bind the Coup on/off to a single checkbox in your profile.

Don't really know yet, though. There are other things to do before this becomes a thing.

I was just thinking about that list that nobody uses, actually. It'd be something good to bind Coup to if I decide to go that route. Basically, since some of you have a strange taste in title bar colors, I would set it up so that anyone on your buddy list would show up with their custom colors/nameplate (if they have Imposter) only to you.

It's just an idea I was tossing around.
You should do the opposite of that. Have a "hate list", where anyone who's on it has their titlebar invisible to you.
It's next on my list of things to fix, right after a little sprucing up of the board view and thread lists.

Is it custom nameplate time? It should be custom nameplate time.
How do I use a custom nameplate?
Profile >> Look and Layout. Put in a url for your custom nameplate. Then equip the Imposter nameplate that should be available for everyone.

Do you guys consider blank posts spam?
Yeah, but it's not necessarily breaking the rules if you do it. Spam can be locked or deleted at the staff's discretion, but that's usually only for really stupid shit.

So I just typed my username up in the search bar there and had a little adventure.

Ah, you guys...
You found it that fast? Most didnt know about the searchbar until much later.
I was going to say...

He's an observant little shit. It took most of you weeks to find it.

The Flood / Re: Why would you ever name an error code "CENTIPEDE?"
« on: September 09, 2014, 09:44:05 PM »
I am a fan of using words or phrases for errors in place of numbers.

You'll have a hard time forgetting or misreading "centipede" like you would a seven character string.

Or point me in the right direction.
1: Click the arrow at the top right of this post
2: Click the green plus sign
3: You'll have access to all nameplates
This is bullshit.

If you aren't using the #SWAGE nameplate then you aren't doing it right.
Not sure I like it.

Who designed these?
Various people. Nuka designed most although he has stopped making them. Cheat designed some, Vien designed some, and Comms gave us the gift of the #SWAGE nameplate but if you want to make some you're more than welcome to.
I'm pretty good with photoshop.
Where do I turn in applications?
Hmmm well you'd probably want to PM Cheat so you can get all the dimension requirements and then I would say you make a thread taking requests from people. If you make enough you might be worthy of the "Plate Master" title
This is true.

I don't think it works like that...
it's been a thing for a while now...
Actual wireless charging isn't possible.
Yet. A few decades ago Wi-Fi would have been science fiction.

Sharing information wirelessly? You're kidding!

last anarchy weekend can be summed up like this: 9/11, niggers, rainbow text
Oh yeah, he did miss out on the Coup and custom options, didn't he. Well, it's probably for the best that he wasn't around...

Getting the iPhone 6+. Not even mad.
I sure hope you're not getting the 128gb flavor for almost $1000...

Spoiler
The 64GB one, actually. And it's $400 for my plan; not anything close to a thousand. I skipped out on getting a new phone for a couple years and I'm opting to upgrade this time.

Anyways, how have you guys been doing in my absence? Was Anarchy Weekend just a retarded spam-fest or the hate-train I wanted it to be? Also, consider this an AMA me anything thread. Sorry I couldn't be here and liven up the party like I usually do but I've been in DC and New York for a while (currently in New York). And in regards to that site nuking threat, I'm not actually going to do that. Don't really give enough of a shit to do that.

I just went on there again today, how did they manage to fuck it up even more than it was before? I am speechless, the site I use to love is being completely annihilated.
What are you talking about? It's still the same piece of shit from before the Destiny beta.
You never could have been so wrong.

Hey, that's what we were telling you in plu.dj a while back. Fuck I still regret my cat helmet for Halo 3. I only go the for in between regular and ultra editions now cause they typically come with art and lore bits that I like to look at and read.
I like my helmet. You have to imagine how the ladies feel when they're in my room and see that.
I enjoy the helmet as well; it's much nicer (and has less parts that break off) than the Reach statue.

There are quite a few articles about his character that suggest he's a bit of an asshole. The last time I read the books was like...middle school, so I don't really remember his dickery all that clearly.

This would be a great time to recruit but good luck getting a PM to send
Poach in the threads complaining about the site. Those often get a lot of attention and threads aren't as buggy as messages.

And Destiny has an average review rating of 5.5 on metacritic

"I told you so" comes to mind
Bungie hasn't made a good game since ODST, so it doesn't surprise me.
I liked Reach. It has the best forge out of the Halo series and the custom game options kicked ass (especially their potential when modded).

I've had my browser crash twice on that shitty site.
I've figured out why a few people don't want to cross over here. They've got this idea that people who move to offsites think they're better than everyone else. *sigh*
That's because they're attached to Bungie and don't want to let go, even when their design and development decisions consistently make their site more difficult to use.

I don't think we're better than Bungie's community, but I do think our forum experience is superior, simpler, and a lot less laggy.

That could be argued because we're smaller. Then again, it's not like we're not trying to recruit, we do that whenever we can.
The old Bnet never behaved like the new one, and I blame the "visual" loading that Bungie implemented (at least in part). Simple PHP/HTML navigation might be abrupt, but it gets you here to there in less than a quarter of the time.

They also have a visual view on your destiny character too, which in my opinion, is unneeded.
Those types of things don't really directly impact the performance of the larger site, though; it only affects you when you load that page, unless a storm of people try to access the site all at once and make it crash (like now).

Bungie's pulled this kind of thing off before and did it great. The site right before the switch to Bungie.next, when they integrated Reach stats, looked and worked extremely smooth. The halo.bungie.net site is acting up right now because it's attached to the b.lind site, but once the traffic dies down you should check it out again and see how well the entire suite worked.
