The Flood / Re: Harry Potter Is A Dick

There are quite a few articles about his character that suggest he's a bit of an asshole. The last time I read the books was like...middle school, so I don't really remember his dickery all that clearly.

This would be a great time to recruit but good luck getting a PM to send
Poach in the threads complaining about the site. Those often get a lot of attention and threads aren't as buggy as messages.

And Destiny has an average review rating of 5.5 on metacritic

"I told you so" comes to mind
Bungie hasn't made a good game since ODST, so it doesn't surprise me.
I liked Reach. It has the best forge out of the Halo series and the custom game options kicked ass (especially their potential when modded).

I've had my browser crash twice on that shitty site.
I've figured out why a few people don't want to cross over here. They've got this idea that people who move to offsites think they're better than everyone else. *sigh*
That's because they're attached to Bungie and don't want to let go, even when their design and development decisions consistently make their site more difficult to use.

I don't think we're better than Bungie's community, but I do think our forum experience is superior, simpler, and a lot less laggy.

That could be argued because we're smaller. Then again, it's not like we're not trying to recruit, we do that whenever we can.
The old Bnet never behaved like the new one, and I blame the "visual" loading that Bungie implemented (at least in part). Simple PHP/HTML navigation might be abrupt, but it gets you here to there in less than a quarter of the time.

They also have a visual view on your destiny character too, which in my opinion, is unneeded.
Those types of things don't really directly impact the performance of the larger site, though; it only affects you when you load that page, unless a storm of people try to access the site all at once and make it crash (like now).

Bungie's pulled this kind of thing off before and did it great. The site right before the switch to Bungie.next, when they integrated Reach stats, looked and worked extremely smooth. The halo.bungie.net site is acting up right now because it's attached to the b.lind site, but once the traffic dies down you should check it out again and see how well the entire suite worked.

How many times have you been kicked out of your session and forced to log in again? It's like every hour for me; I'll do a few things on the forum, go do something else, come back and none of my notifications are working.

You've got less than 70 posts to go until you can slap on the Imposter plate and go to town. You'll get over it, I promise.

Cheat! You gave purple to this thing and not to me?!
I was actually thinking "Noelle is going to be so pissed" when I was configuring the account's colors. 8)

Don't like it don't join. Plain and simple.

So, we're going to turn away men and women who are willing to serve their country loyally and faithfully...because they don't believe in a God and would rather not express that belief?

That's fucking stupid.

Pretty much. People like that shouldn't be in the military anyway. Small minded drama queens. There are bigger problems than this.
I couldn't disagree more. This religious stuff shouldn't be an issue; it shouldn't be brought up, and if it is, then it certainly shouldn't be held against someone when they don't want to participate.

Like someone said (in this thread or another one, I can't remember) Sikh in the military are allowed to wear a turban, so why not allow someone non-religious the option to not be religious?

No, no. I want to know about how much of a shithole bnet has become in the last few hours
Eh, I've been staying away from there until they can make their site not shit bricks when I try to surf the forums. It's down constantly and when it's not, the pages take forever to load and sometimes the interactive elements (opening comments, notifications, etc.) don't work at all.

iPhone 6 and Apple Watch got announced.
Apparently nobody told Apple about this:

I am pretty excited about the new iPhone and will probably get the larger one. My parents usually trade my brother and I our current phones for their older ones for a new case for the phone we upgrade to (then we can sell their old one for some cash).

The iPhone app works on the iPad, and the iPad upscales iPhone apps in a way that doesn't make it pixelated. I don't know how it works, but I think it fills in the missing information in some way and makes it look smooth.
That's not true. Text is conserved because they're vectors, but all raster images are pixelated to some degree. I've got both the iPhone and the iPad, and there is a clear difference.

Imagine how much worse Anarchy would be.
Ehh we already have most of the "worst" of b.net here.
It would be in greater quantity, and shitposts would probably flood page after page.
I'd probably have to enable the "7 topics per day" rule to slow it down, but yeah, it would get pretty bad.

You're unfortunate enough to have a high number of downvotes and a relatively low number of posts.

It's going to be a while.
Oh, you can see how many upvotes people have? Tell me my life story, Cheat.
Yeah, I can see more than that, actually.

The score variable is what directly determines your prefix, and it works like golf (the lower the number the better). And telling you your positive trust number wouldn't matter much since you have no idea how much it takes for each rating.

Gaming / Re: Should I get Destiny?

I don't know if I would enjoy it. That's what I'm trying to figure out. What are your thoughts on it. Knowing that will help me form my opinion.
As far as I could tell (which wasn't much, since I got kicked constantly) the multiplayer isn't all that great. The campaign was cool in the Beta, but it just didn't have the same "awesome" factor that the Reach beta did.

We'd have to get a VPN, which, if we had that many members, would be fine. I've saved up enough money that we could go the VPN route for a month or two if that was needed.

Also, we'd need like...at least six more mods if Offtopic moved here.

EDIT: but yeah, we'd probably go offline temporarily if everyone moved here at once. I'd need time to change the host over to something more powerful.

I've noticed that most of the time you click on 'New' it sends you to the second page from the last instead of the last page.
The "NEW" link will send you to the newest post that you haven't read yet. If the last post you read was number 26 of 30 on page 1 and then the discussion causes another page to open, you'll get sent to  27 of 30 on page 1.

This place seems dead, so here's a random "what up nigga" thread to increase traffic activity. What are you up to?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the forums will be a bit empty for a while until the Destiny craze winds down.

Anyway, I've just been surfing the net looking at Destiny and iPhone 6 stuff. Also, I ate some turtle pie; which was delicious.

Serious / Re: Alright bitches, let's have a good ol' God debate
« on: September 08, 2014, 09:40:52 PM »
It'd be incredibly useful if you actually demonstrated the point you're trying to make, and gave us the source for that picture.

You can't believe everything you read on the internet.
The point he's trying to make is that the accuracy of copies of the New Testament is supposedly far greater than other greek writings, hereby (probably) implying that it had to be true, that the tales of the bible are not just fairy tales and that it truly is the word of god.

Unfortunately, the main "sources" to back this up are extremely biased and pro-christian "studies" that date back several decades and compare obscure works by greek authors older than the bible to the new testament as if that somehow conveys anything about biblical accuracy. I've done a bit of reading and haven't found any mention of this chart on websites other than the likes of "thechristiantruth.com".

Simply put, it's in all likelihood nothing but bias and bullshit, but even if it isn't, it's still completely pointless.
It's not proof of God, even if it is a true statistic. It's just proof that the Bible was valued more than the others at that time (again, assuming it's an accurate statistic).

Eh...get over it, mate. It's not like you're going to get banned for it.

The forum doesn't need nonsense to be active; it needs discussion. Save your shit for Anarchy when it rolls around again.
I know that I won't get banned for it, but for more than a few people, shitposting is what makes this forum entertaining. These people probably aren't going to partake in much serious discussion anyway, so why lock/delete their threads while making this place a wasteland with occasional quality discussion in the process? Let everyone have their fun, it's not like the shitposting inhibits anything anyway.

Sometimes it does flood the forum and we lose the actual quality threads.
But anyways.

I'm not upset, you're just a homosexual.
Hey man, I don't mean to discriminate, but you don't need to keep spreading your gay germs all over me

Yeah, let's not call people names. That actually does get you banned.
