I got it once. But overall this site is being slow for some reason. It just started today.
Since you guys have problems checking updates... From Bluehost: Hello! My name is Cameron. I apologize for the inconvenience but there is currently an issue with the server itself. Our administrators are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Currently, the admins do not have an exact ETA, but these issues are generally resolved within 15-45 min.

It's a known issue.
And you really should check other boards. This was posted in Support and Updates.

We could always just play to our strengths and go the Onion route: put off satirical, passive-aggressive news.

Where do you think your loved ones go when they die?
Where does the operating system of a computer go when you set it on fire?

Sue the school for emotional distress due to the teacher's actions
I was going to suggest something like this. At the very least you can get the teacher into a bit of trouble (maybe even an ass-chewing by the principal/president/whatever of the school).

Well shit, made a thread in Support before I saw this. Sorry. :c
It's fine. I've been looking up some fixes, and I've come to three conclusions: 1. PHP includes are breaking on the host for some reason (and I will need to fix it) 2. Someone is fucking with us and instead of crashing the site, we're just slow as fuck (but I don't really think this is likely) 3. Bluehost is installing something or somebody spilled coffee on our server or something. In any case, I've set the wheel in motion and let them know about it, so we should hear back soon.

There's a thread in Updates about this. I already submitted a ticket, but it's likely the issue is on the host's end since I haven't screwed with anything lately that would throw the error and slow the site down.

I think I got it while refreshing on The Flood front page.
I get it frequently when I try to refresh a page that is loading slowly, so it may be a temporary traffic issue and that means it might just go away on its own. We can only hope.

I've submitted a ticket to my host about the sudden slowness of the forum (it can get horribly slow) and I should hear back within 24 hours. By then the problem might be fixed, but whatever... I also included the error message I've been seeing a few times. Spoiler an error occurred while processing this directive If you've seen this message, let me know here (along with what you were doing and how often it has occurred. UPDATE: From Bluehost: Hello! I just think the current link color is a little too vibrant and would be better with a bit more 'grey' in it.
IE:
CURRENT LINK
PROPOSED LINK
I'll check it out when I get back home. You may be onto something, but the real test is seeing what it looks like in board view with all those thread links.

Yeah... I'm also not a fan. It has to do with the color of our background.
I'll be switching us back to the regular links.
You brightened the links? Nigga you should have just desaturated them.
That's what was done after trying the B.old color. It didn't work well with the background.

I was wondering when the review/news/blog section of the site was going up. Hopefully soon.
The mod that would enable it breaks the responsive design, so it might be a few days.

So this is a script just like Coup on bnet? That's cool.
I just hope that it won't be added to the site itself. We'll have to find our own identity, and not just try to copy the past.
It won't be. I've be actively trying to resist using any resources from Bungie. Right now, the only graphics I've taken are the Bungie nameplate and the Ninja and Monitor staff icon (though I redrew the icons in Illustrator, so they're not just copy/pasta'd).

Like, I understand AMA threads. I partake from time to time, and when people play ball it can be a nice way to pass the time or eliminate boredom. However, this?
Turns out I won't be having the job I talked about AMA What the fuck is this?
Like, seriously? It's such a narrow subject that you could make a thread without it being an AMA, and it seems like the worst sort of petty narcissism to assume that people would indeed be as interested in your unemployment as to actually interview you about it.
Fuck me.
I don't see anything wrong with these kinds of threads—especially when there isn't a lot of activity.

One day...
Heroic now
Thank you =^.^=
Someone doesn't like you very much, Kiyo. You've got some serious downvotes going on; if the system hadn't been changed, you'd be a plain ol' Ninja.

Your first act? Mine would be to make this nameplate available to all members, and the only one available to people who have not yet reached the rank of "Member"
Probably nothing because I'd get demoted right away do to a large number of complaints flooding Cheat's PM box that I shouldn't be a moderator because I'm [insert reason why I shouldn't be a moderator here].
Yeaaaah...that never affected anything. Just look at Kiyo. Everyone used to hate the fact that she got a mod position and regularly complained about it, but here we are now. Long as you don't abuse your powers you have nothing to worry about.
I'll probably end up banning people that make rule breaking threads or posts then really. That's about it. That or people that do whatever they can to just purposely piss me off like Door did a minute ago. Though I probably shouldn't let some stupid kid like Door get to me, but if I were a mod here, I'd put him in his place.
You'll bring law and order to the lands, eh?
Pretty much. That's what I did in the one private group that I pretty much ended up growing up with known as RA, I was a moderator there, that is until I became a temporary Admin after the launch of Bungie.next and became a discriminative "dicktator" kicking out new members that were trashing the place, but then receiving shit from the older classy members for doing so telling me to bring them back in the group.
After I got banned from Bungie since March of this year, RA was dying out, and I didn't see a point in staying anymore. Everyone just changed.
Even one of the best groups I've ever been in for nearly 4 years went down the drain, mainly due to Bungie's site updates, but also due to my own actions.
So as long as I don't become Admin here, I think I'll be fine.
I think we're alright as we are now with the lax rules. Sure some people are unruly, but it makes the place more interesting. But really, as long as you don't overstep your bounds as a mod you won't lose your pretty orange bar even if people bitch and moan.
Eh, If Cheat wants me to be a mod, I'll be a mod and do what needs to be done really. If not, life goes on.
It's not like Bungie.net where they have an exclusive private group called HFCS where they possibly talk behind your back and you wreck your chances of becoming a mod when trying to join, and since they never cleared the queue, I put myself on the no mod list on Bungie.old before I released that this is the list of people not to appoint to as a mod.
Pretty stupid huh?
I'm just glad this site doesn't have an HFCS.
First of all, I'm pretty sure this place does have a HFCS, as most sites would. Secondly, you're so obviously bitter about not being made mod on bungie.. do you really think they base their mod choices on who tried to join HFCS?
That and your trust rating. Also, I don't give 2 fucks about being a mod on Bungie anymore like I used to back in 09. It wouldn't make a difference now.
Yeah, it was something I always wanted to be on the old forum. But now...eh. I don't really give a shit. A lot of people still try to butter up the mods and admins (even DeeJ), and it's completely transparent why they're doing it, too. Kind of funny to watch, though.

Oh no, I'm spamming Kinder on facebook. Whatever will I do!? D:
THIS IS SO SERIOUS!! THIS IS SO FUCKING SERIOUS!!!!!!
Are you really not concerned about it or do you just not care about anything?
Why should I be concerned about spamming somebody on facebook?
Well, I guess it'd take somebody as retarded as Kinder to actually take it as anything other than a joke.
You do realize companies purchase the rights to look through people's Facebook profiles to investigate someone before they hire them.
It's all in private messages. And I'd probably delete my account if it ever became a concern. It'd be a good excuse to at least.
Look I really hate to be the one to tell you this, but there's no physical way to erase what you've done on Facebook's database. You can deactivate your account to keep random people from viewing it, but it'll always remain in Facebook's hands ready to sell it to your employer.
Indeed. The best thing you can do is purge the account of all friend connections, change the name to something similar but different from your real name, and then create a new account with a different email. Hopefully then, if someone wants to look for you, they will catch the new account first and not notice the other one. It's a best case scenario, though.

I've got some bad news, buddy... Just because you click the "Delete" button doesn't mean it goes away. Facebook will hide the content (or your profile) from public view and it will appear gone, but the data is still logged. Also...private messages? Not so private if Facebook wants to take a look. Those are all kept as well.

Will you make it so you're only notified if someone hits the "quote" button on your post? Or something?
I suppose it might be possible, but I'd have to gut the current build of whatever the hell the notification system is. Tracking quotes might be difficult; the only method I could even begin to fathom would be checking for display names above quote boxes in messages.

I'm occasionally getting a notification spam. Just a bug.
Do me a favor and go up to your name in the user bar, then click on Updated Topics. Mark all of those as read and let me know if you keep getting the spam.
Just did it and it just spammed me once I clicked it. That supposed to happen?
Eh, I'm not really sure, to be honest. It may take a while to fix itself, though; I remember there is a 48 hour cache of the topics for the plugin that it will display from. I'll check out support for the plugin if it continues to be an asshole.

No, they're not. Your cache might keep trying to load the old ones though, so either clear it or hit control + F5.

I know for a fact that this effectively solves that problem.
Yeah...it's just a little bug in the programming. If you clear up your updated topics from time to time this should stop happening to you.

I also approve (though I don't really think the top nav bar looks good with such a strong gradient).
As for the link color, Demonic...I'm not attached to it at all and I can dig a little Bungie.net upgrade in that department.
Your site has the strong tendency to reject foreign CSS, and I could not get the gradient that is identical to the b.old version operating.
I'll keep trying though.
It's really heavy on server side programming (PHP), so yeah...CSS could be an issue if you're trying to poke your own values. The gradient up top is rendered with CSS, though, so that shouldn't be a problem.
