What about negative ranks, Cheat? Are we ever going to see the return of Deej?
They're possible to get, but it's really hard to do now. I have no idea if you'll ever see someone with it (unless they're trying to get the prefix on purpose).
I believe Zenmaster is trying to get it. And I know it still exists and is theoretically available, I was just wondering if it's doable in practice too. Unless every single member downvotes you, I wouldn't be surprised if just posting and being online counteracts the downvotes you'd get. How correct is that?
You're very correct. The negative ranks are harder to get than Mythic, and they don't last very long if you post and surf the forum.

Oh, I see how it is, now. You're really asking about yourself. You're closer than Yutaka.
Uhm...not...entirely? I mean sure I'm curious, but it's more about how far off the gap is between our current Mythics and anyone who might be close. I'm not really the type to just ask about my own standing. Frankly, I was surprised when I managed to get past Heroic since I stayed there for so long.
I peek at the stats once in a while just out of curiosity. Plus Yutaka has more activity than I do, so if anything he should be closer.
*shrug* You've got a higher Trust rating. I don't make the rules. Spoiler Ok, I actually do make the rules, but in this case it's not my fault.

I thought we weren't allowed to do this because of AdSense...
Adsense kicked us out cause of "invalid clicks". Which apparently is a bunch of bullshit. We're using adversal and Ebay ad-whatever now.
Does that mean I can post booties in the original posts now?
Knock yourself out. Just keep it kinda-SFW and wrap it in spoilers if you aren't sure.

Just since I've been wondering...how is it that Slash and Yutaka aren't at Mythic yet? They're the next two most active people on this forum. Does Korra really have that much of a boost in upvotes?
Yes. Slash is very close and Yutaka is...not as close. With more time online and a few more upvotes, they can join the blue club (or rather not, since they're staff and have fixed colors...). Oh, I see how it is, now. You're really asking about yourself. You're closer than Yutaka.

Post some r34 of yourself and you'll go up in no time.
Not necessary. The system is patched.

Just a thought, I wouldn't cater to people who constantly complain about their rank. It's something to be earned, and if you're going to whine about it then maybe you don't deserve it. I mean if it's an obvious issue of trolling that's one thing, but if it's because having a special custom nameplate or blue bar is that big a deal to you to the point that you're going to throw a fit to get and then throw another fit when you lose it, well...
It's a genuine "issue" with the positive trust essentially losing steam with high-post-count members. Stablizing the equation will just help bring the negative trust down to the effectiveness of a lower ranked member. It's a good thing.

Yeah, I'm not editing anything. You both are just rocking back and forth on the line between the two prefixes.
It would be one thing if people were going back and forth because of legitimate criticism and votes, but it is just a bunch of trolls downvoting everyone, it makes the system a joke.
Like I said, I do plan on weighing the system differently for high-post members. On the other hand, you (and Korra) are at a very high level in terms of Prefix. These higher levels will always be more unstable than the ones below them; this is done on purpose to give meaning to upvoting and downvoting someone. I'll update everyone once the weight is put into effect.

The irony is that by posting and complaining about the ad, the ad is more likely to appear now.
Good going.

Popups aren't allowed, but advertisers are assholes. Take a screenshot next time you see it so I can report it.
Or if you remember anything about it, let me know and I'll let Adversal know.
I just heard a loud voice say "You've got mail!" as soon as I clicked a thread. And one tab was all I had open.
Do you remember the popup URL or title? Any distinguishing features on the banner ad?
There was no window, just the sound.
Ok, good. At least it wasn't popup windows sneaking in. I'll send Adversal another Email.

Everyone's rank went down.
RIP custom nameplate
EDIT: And it looks like it changed again.

The boys in engineering handed me a quick fix for this, hold on.
*paper crumpling*
"Stop moving your cursor over the ads.
Just kidding. Those are against the rules; Adversal will take care of them eventually.
Plz
I already emailed Adversal about it. They'll most likely ban the ad, since those types are not allowed on their network.

I was thinking about writing a review of this movie, myself. Blazed Iron and I went and saw this yesterday and it was way more interesting than I thought it was going to be (still more a fan of Basterds, but whatever).

It's a very slight issue with high-post-count members. I'll need to look into weighing upvotes/downvotes differently in the future, but Noelle, you have been riding the line between Mythic and Legendary for a while now.

I'm getting a lot of adds that play a sound when the cursor goes over them and it's getting REALLY annoying.

How about the option to send Open messages? Open as in public, but not public, because then it's still a pm, and you're not allowed to send those when banned.
Alternatively, you could allow the option to send messages, just like on B.net when banned.
Kinda like right now? You can send messages when you're Warning banned (the red "banned" label under your avatar) but you can't when you are blacklisted.

I'd like to gather some data (both for the site and something else I am considering). If you don't have one of the above but have something similar, let me know in the comments.

As you are probably aware, our pals at Google dumped us. I'm sort of still in shock and I don't know a lot, so I'll just give you the facts. At 1:02PM (17 Oct) I was sent this single email: Spoiler Hello,
With our advertising programs we strive to create an online ecosystem that benefits publishers, advertisers, and users. For this reason we sometimes have to take action against accounts that show behavior towards users or advertisers that may negatively impact how the ecosystem is perceived. In your case, we have detected invalid activity on your AdSense account and as a result it has been disabled.
We are limited in the amount of information we can provide about your specific violation. We understand that you may want more information about your account activity. However, in order to protect our proprietary detection systems, we are unable to provide further details.
In some cases publishers can make significant changes to correct the violation and are willing to comply with the AdSense program policies. For this reason, we offer an appeal process as an opportunity to work with you to resolve the issue. Please be sure to provide a complete analysis of your traffic or other reasons that may have generated invalid activity in your appeal. Submit your appeal using this form and we will follow up accordingly. Before submission, please review the list of the top reasons for account closure.
Thanks for your understanding.
Sincerely,
The Google AdSense Team
To summarize, we were not kicked for our content. That's not the issue here currently (although it was probably what made them look into us again, but that's just conjecture). We were disabled for invalid activity which is basically code for "clicking the ads just to click the ads". Personally, I don't buy it. I can't prove that Google is making this stuff up (especially since I can't even see the site's previous stats through the Adsense backend), but if you do a search for "adsense disabled invalid activity" and add the word bullshit afterward, you can see some very strange and interesting stories. I have appealed to Google about this but to be honest I would be downright shocked if they overturned their ruling. If I go without a week of hearing from them, I'll appeal again. In the meantime, we are serving Adversal ads, which are a bit more obnoxious. Some of you have been complaining about the audio ads. One in particular I know only plays a sound if you hover or brush your mouse over it. I haven't experienced the other one, but I would assume it is likely the same; if it isn't, let me know and send me a screenshot so I can deliver it to Adversal. Sorry about this, folks, but I think you probably knew Adsense wasn't going to last forever. I'll update the OP when and if I know more.

MFW my evil plan worked
Huh.
Wasn't my plan and I thought the posts would be conserved. Previous versions of SMF didn't re-check for this, so I just assumed...
Well since threads in Anarchy don't count towards post count, it was pretty safe to assume that a thread being moved into there would subtract from total post count.
In previous software, SMF didn't re-count all the posts you made; your count went up when you made a post, but there were no checks after the fact. In any case, I've moved the thread back to The Flood, so the posts should come back for you people.
