Septagon / Re: Private Groups
« on: December 01, 2014, 01:34:43 AM »
I know this may be a beaten horse, but is there any plans of implementing the group function that was the lifeblood of the Bungie forums and help kept it running especially during the darkness?

Honestly i feel like the private groups function can help bring more people in and allow people surround themselves with whatever or whoever they want. It could even bring a flood of more users from former Saphire members to maybe some TFS members. And yes although some of you have hatred for them, but their addition could help bring some extra visitation or newcomers to the site. Not only that maybe the ads can finally become better due to higher visitation leading to us having a better ad and less virus spams. After all with more visitation there is more worth to getting ads on this site than before.

Anyway i know this is just a stupid rant, but is there any plans for groups to be implemented and if so is there a time frame when such a addition shall be made?
This was always part of my master plan, right before crashing this plane with no survivors.

So yeah, once we have the new theme up and running and I've collected a couple monthsworth of ad money, I can get started putting in groups.
How would moderation be handled in groups?
You can see the package I'll be installing here: http://www.smfpacks.com/page/sa=sg

It would be up to the "owner" of the group how they would moderate the forum. I'm not positive there can be additional mods, but I'll definitely look into it.

And if this package turns out to suck, I can always try my hand at putting together something by myself (but that would suck).
Just wondering. How would you handle groups that allow stuff that's usually rule breaking?
It would be Anarchy rules as far as I'm concerned. Nothing illegal.
Wouldn't that run the real Anarchy though if there's groups that are just 24/7 Anarchy?
We'd keep the exclusive gimmicks (anonymous, custom options, etc.) and probably add a few more to keep people interested, but yeah, that population would probably take a hit.

But we'd have more people on the site all the time, so I think it would be kinda a good thing. And maybe if private groups take off, there would be no need for the monthly Anarchy at all.

Current mobile speeds are already 4 times faster (if not more) than the average American Internet speed.

Fucking ISPs.
Yep, mines almost exactly 4 times as fast as my home internet on LTE. It's ridiculous. Tethering solves most of my speed problems, though.

Septagon / Re: Avatar borders
« on: November 30, 2014, 10:15:15 PM »
Why do these exist? It's kinda.... jarring don't you think? B.old never had them, why do we?

You think one day will have the option to make them transparent? You know.... like an on an off switch so to speak in the settings or something.
Yes.

Great. When can you start? :P

On a serious note, that's actually not a bad idea. I may not be a web developer but I do have some knowledge in code. If the avatar borders and title borders are together, is there a possible way to split the 2 or can it only be connected as one?
Oh, well if you want to get technical...

All I have to do is set up the on/off switch in your profile and have a small bit of code check to see if it's "on". If it is, I can exclude the background and border as well as the padding, so it lines up nice and neat. It'll be connected as one toggle when I get around to it. Having them separate is too intricate and frankly I would like to keep some uniformity around.

I see. Well the avatar border has been the only thing that kinda gave me the wrong vibe really, at least in my opinion. Too bad I won't be able to keep the color scheme I have in Anarchy, because I need to be a high rank to do that. Odds of that happening are... years or never.

I got so bored of my site I broke my own post counter on my profile. On purpose mind you.
You're closer than you think you are to Legendary. If you wouldn't have left, you would be one now.

On mobile. Well, it's always been like this. Can't see any usernames and there's no button to click off, meaning you have to refresh the page.

Also, I've just noticed this. Half the time images appear as white squares with a grey interior. Is this a glitch on the mobile sure or something? If its a feature, is there a way to get it to display the image?
The likes on mobile is a known issue.

I have no idea about the other image problem, but it's definitely not a feature.

Actually, if you're trying to show me an example of what it looks like, then that image is broken, mate. Your browser can't render an image it can't access or find.

Does the image in the OP show for you?
Nope. You're trying to display a website as an image and that's why it's fucking up for you. Copy the imgur link for the image itself, not the page it's on.

This better?
Yep.

You know what's wrong with the like thing? Is it just not scaling down correctly?
Yeah, it's not built for mobile.

I'll likely buy the premium like mod so it can also be integrated with the alerts system.
That would be awesome. How much does it cost?
Not more than $20. In other news, I've fixed the sizing error for the like box. Refresh to get the new css.

Also, a neat little trick until we get a new like system: click the alerts button at the top of the page and the like box will close. :)

Still had no problems

How come?
lucky. I've had no lag yet. A few unfair matches but that's it.. it's been fun mostly.
Yeah, you're goddamn lucky. I've never gone to blackscreen so many times since playing Halo 2 mods on XBC. My BR bullets drop about half the time so I can't fight anyone 1 on 1 and if I try to fire rockets it's a lottery draw whether or not the damn thing is going to fire or not.

And I can play Halo 4 and Halo: Reach on Xbox 360 just fine, so it's not my connection that is the problem.

Did you request the nameplate "Beyond the Sea"?

so now we have to get a nameplate(which we might not even get) to post in anarchy?
This is beyond retarded.
It's a useful practice. Having the forum rely on a nameplate makes it easy to eject certain members if they fuck up.

Out of all of all the themes anarchy chose, why did it have to be this one?

You could interpret it as an analogy. Rapture, advertised as where the free can live freely without restriction or moderation. A paradise.

But then you enter Rapture, and... well, you already know what it's like.

Perfect theme choice.

I'm surprised you guys didn't go with Columbia.

Never played that one so I don't know what the theme is about exactly for that one. Same sorta premise I assume?

Similar. Except for the way it ends....

I'm not gonna spoil it. Just play it.
Uh...Columbia is the polar opposite of Rapture. That was one of the themes...you know, like having a city in the sky instead of the bottom of the ocean?
