Septagon / Re: Suggestion: Remove post count/time online as downvote protection« on: January 13, 2015, 03:31:06 PM »I get what you're saying, and we had something like that in the beginning. Basically what happened was people created alts and then downvoted a few users every day for shits and giggles.I don't think you quite understand what I did with the change to the trust system (which is understandable, considering it's supposed to be kinda a secret).I'm not saying that ten people in one day downvoting should drop someone's rank. I'm saying that something in the range of 50 or 100 within a short amount of time could have an impact. It's not exactly a secret that I've moved the Trust system further away from a pure Karma + or - equation, and essentially the reason was asshole jerk faces who decided to cause mayhem with user's titles. It's not a system that is likely to be overhauled again, as it has been working successfully for a few months, now. I'm open to changing a few of the values and the scales a bit, but going back to the first or second version of the trust system isn't going to happen (probably). 3153

There's not a ban or warn quota or anything...The mods are gonna ban me. That is what I am trying to say. They want vengeance. They want to take away my privilege for using this website. They will ban me and hope that I am meeker when I come back. It's their way of saying "we hate you, and we will feel better if you suffer".watWhy did Loaf get mad today? ._.Who gives a shit. The universe has already made up it's mind. They have already prepared me for the harvest. In a short matter of time I will probably be culled from this website to promote a nicer, more efficient environment. 3154

I don't think you quite understand what I did with the change to the trust system (which is understandable, considering it's supposed to be kinda a secret).
It's not an immunity. Downvotes count for less on high-ranked-people to keep the ratio more or less even. Before, you had this unstable teeter-totter effect where a high-ranked user would rapidly fall a rank (or two, depending on how many downvotes) when they received downvotes. And that's because each post you make when you have like 8000 of them counts for very little in comparison to a downvote. So to make it more stable, I set benchmarks that would gradually water down downvotes as you climb the ranks, so you aren't weighted down by them as they are accumulated during your posting career. 3156

I'll admit, I have a problem with the site and forum, itself, but I have nothing against the users (hell, I even post there from time to time). The only issue I could claim with the general population is their stubborn, we-go-down-with-the-ship loyalty to the website, regardless of the poor choices Bungie has made with the forums.

As I'm sure all or most of you are aware, for the past...however long Sep7agon has been a thing, we've had post-based ranks that are tributes to the Halo multiplayer medals (Posting Spree, Posting Frenzy, etc.). They've served their purpose very well in giving users a way to distinguish themselves from others, but in my opinion, they're a bit outdated now.
Which is why I'm proposing this idea for new ranks to take their place! All ideas are welcome. You can suggest a specific replacement (Pokemon Trainer instead of Posting Riot, for example) or just list some general suggestions. I'd like to keep them video game and movie/tv based, because that's sort of our niche, but you can throw in some weird shit if you really have to... Current Ranks Newbie * Basic title for all members; Vast majority of Sep7agon.net holds this title; <25 posts Member * Step above Newbie; 25 posts Posting Spree * Step above Member; 100 posts Posting Frenzy * Step above Posting Spree; 250 posts Posting Riot * Step above Posting Frenzy; 500 posts Posting Rampage * Step above Posting Riot; 1000 posts Unstoppable! * Step above Posting Rampage; 1777 posts Invincible! * Step above Unstoppable!; 3000 posts Inconceivable! * Step above Invincible!; 7777 posts kthxbai 3174
