The Flood / Re: What do you think, if anything, is wrong with the flood board? [Unofficial]« on: January 21, 2015, 06:55:37 PM »Why do people feel the need to have serious topics and censored discussions in the flood? It's a problem because deeming something serious is subjective. There were numerous bait threads and borderline-troll threads in Serious that made me scratch my head. And if you haven't noticed, funneling all the quality topics into Serious makes The Flood a complete cesspool, since it promotes the "stupid stuff goes here" way of thinking. 3034

I think this was brought up before, but it's good to have it freshly suggested so that Isara can work at it whenever she has time.
And it's not really practical to link likes to the notifications right now. Later on down the road, when I install a paid package, that can be done. 3036

Try opening a private browsing session or something; that should do it.I don't really have a button that lets me log out but I'll try to figure something out.I'd just like to say that not having a functional header sucks quite a lot.I'd really like Isara to look at it, since she would be the expert on the design, but while we wait: what does the screen look like if you view the forum as a guest? Does javascript work on your phone? As in: can you open signatures and spoilers? 3037

Septagon / Re: So why can't we have porn threads in The Flood?« on: January 21, 2015, 02:22:15 PM »- Ad providers can be a painThat is another huge reason. Our current provider appears to be less anal than Adsense, but they still ban porn sites. This is the reason I don't put up ads in Anarchy; it was never for your guys' benefit, it was for mine. 3045

I agree. It's a solid B-, and that ain't all that bad. A 10/11 or 11/11 would have been better.
What are we talking about again? 3050
Septagon / Re: Why does my profile picture get upscaled?« on: January 20, 2015, 03:36:22 PM »
Yeah, your image will be upscaled or downscaled to fit the width of the avatar box (whatever that might be, since it is relative).
If you'd like to fix this, you can add transparent pixels around the image so that it isn't upscaled as much. 3051

News / Re: Bye, Monitors!« on: January 19, 2015, 03:59:54 PM »MODSBIASSure thing. Here's a copy-pasta from the HQ forum where I glossed over the plans. Spoiler I explained this in more detail in one of the Skype chats, but not everyone was there to see it, I think, so I'll explain it here so it's more clear and out in the open. Since Monitors as we know them will be going away, I will be recycling the role into a sort of "Leadership" position, much like you'd have officers in charge of specific areas in a club or something. There'd be a "Content Monitor", which is what I'll change Brute's rank to, as well as 2 or 3 "Group Monitors" who would be in charge of private group stuff (guarding the super admin position to make sure the group doesn't fail or go off the rails if the super admin is absent or retarded). There might be others, like for nameplates administration or even ambassadors (if we get big enough for that). Monitors would only have powers specific to their role, and wouldn't be any sort of mini-Ninja. 3060
News / Bye, Monitors! Hello, Ninjas!« on: January 19, 2015, 03:50:32 PM »
Over the last few days, I've been talking with the staff and coming up with ideas for a better structure within the mod squad. A lot of these talks had to do with the Monitor role, and how it didn't exactly command much respect on the forum; it was effectively useless, especially with two different tiers of Ninjas.
So given that, I've decided to completely ax the Monitor role as everyone knows it. It will likely appear down the road in another form (and I have details on plans for it if you'd like to hear them), but for now it will go the way of the dinosaur. So where does that leave those who are Monitors? Well, since we're getting rid of the position completely (and since we lost a Ninja a few days ago) we will be trying them out as potential Ninjas for one or two weeks, to see how they do and how the community likes them. Those that can't handle the responsibility, or are deemed incompetent, will be let off the staff to return to normal member status. It's unlikely that all the Monitors will be accepted into permanent Ninja status, so in the case of multiple Monitors failing, I'll probably begin the vetting process for picking a new Ninja or two from the general population of active users (who aren't complete dicks). Questions? Comments? Angry comments? Put 'em here and I'll get back to you. |
