The Flood / Re: No more WebMs
« on: March 02, 2015, 03:56:49 PM »
What happened friends
The out-of-the-box code messes with URL parsing, so if you have a hashtag anywhere in your post, it will start/stop a URL.

It's something I need to fix before turning back on.

The Flood / Re: iPhone batteries are shit
« on: March 02, 2015, 03:55:22 PM »
You do know that the first-off-the-line iPhone 5 models had a battery issue, right? Apple replaced my old phone's battery with a brand new one for free (even after I was out of warranty), so if that's the phone you have, I'd look into it and see if it's still offered.

Septagon / WebM Support Temporarily Disabled
« on: March 02, 2015, 03:53:17 PM »
As many of you probably know, recently, URLs have been breaking when there's a "#" sign in them and strangely appearing when you post a hashtag. The culprit behind this was the BBCode Manager mod I installed for WebM support.

Until I can work out a solution, WebM Support is temporarily disabled. Sorry, guys. :(

Holy shit, my general area is in the news again. Awesome.

I'm not a fan of those cameras anyway, because it's literally ONLY for money generation. Since there's no cop, they can't prove it was you driving the car so they can't give you points on your licence (IIRC). My mom works in a court for city tickets in an adjacent county to where this is happening, so I'll ask her about it and see what she thinks.

Probably continue to fill out web design position applications for a full-time slavery job in my free time while I continue to work on iPhones, make sites, and work on stuff here.

As time has gone on and drama has drama'd, this community has slowly turned into a massive clusterfuck. It's pretty poorly moderated for the most part and repeat offenders come back time and time again. It took Kinder two times of posting my personal information for him to finally get perma'd. People who repeatedly harass others with malicious intent (Verb) or people who literally only troll and shitpost (Dustin) remain unpunished while calling Kinder fat at one point was a ban-worthy offence.

I'll just address this bit here.

Yeah, we are a bit too lenient. Part of this stems from the fact that this is a relatively small offsite, we don't have a massive turnover of users like a developer's website does (I.e, Bnet) so bans aren't something given out lightly.

What I think is a valid concern is the repeat offenders, there is actually an already established precendent/system for dealing with users who pull this shit and it's probably time it was dusted off and brought to the fore a bit more >.> I'll link it below.

This was brought out to deal with some serious drama llama infestations, and it worked at the time. It's a bit too medieval to be used as vigorously in my opinion, but if we set a certain threshold of warning points at which this will apply then there shouldn't be an issue.
There's still 'issues' so to speak like non-mods being in the staff chat.
I don't want to take this too off-topic and take away from Desticle's goodbye, but staff != ninja. The mod squad has their own separate chat for that stuff (there're 2 chats for Ninjas and 1 for non-Ninja staff).

LET'S FIND OUT

ONE

TWO

THREE

Honestly I think Verdana is worst
Nah, it's a good font for reading on the web (although there are better ones that produce less eye strain). Times New Roman is terrible unless it's on actual paper or a legal website or something.

I've got a few at home I'll take a picture of later. My Ultimate Venom figure is probably my favorite.

News / Re: Warning System Update
« on: March 01, 2015, 11:02:35 AM »
Wait, so what does a lite ban actually do? I saw verbatim had one but what make it different to a ban- is it just like, for a day rather than permanent or something?
It is a more temporary ban than that auto-decays on the warning system and cannot be permanent.

In terms of what is restricted, a ban and a lite-ban are identical.

News / Warning System Update
« on: March 01, 2015, 02:34:37 AM »
This is a short, graphical update (mostly) that I thought I'd let you know about.

Warning status has been moved to the nameplate, in the spot the staff icon resides. The yellow circle with a stripe is "watched" and the red circle with an x is "lite-banned". If you're not seeing this or you experience nameplate breakage, hard refresh your browser by pushing ctrl + f5 to get the uncached style.

Also: lite-banned members are now visible to everyone, but watched status is still only visible to you and the staff.

Septagon / Re: Priorities in Community Growth

I think private groups will help bring longevity to the site, as well as a reason for existing, as long as we don't fizzle out and the population doesn't thin in the beginning.

Besides that, I do agree with you that the atmosphere around here (especially The Flood) isn't exactly welcoming to newbies. I mean...I can change the rules and make the punishments more harsh in an attempt to get the folks around here to straighten up and not be so batshit crazy, but no change is going to be welcomed by everyone. I'm not sure exactly what to do regarding this, but it's something I'll continue to think about.

TBlocks and whoever else has to finish has two hours.
I don't think that's going to happen, unfortunately (unless all the people I need to fight have quit out). :(

Also, here are the custom ranks I'm thinking (still haven't decided yet):

Name | Elite Four Member

or

Name | Elite Member

or (and I know this isn't correct, but I think it sounds nice)

Name | Respected Gym Leader

Aren't we allowed images though? Just screenshot it, it's not the same, but it's quick workaround for the moment.
Only Cheat can have images in his sig.

Typical Tyrant.
It'd increase the page load time and, IMO, it doesn't look very nice.

Septagon / Re: Cheat, fix this please.

I had it fixed, that's why I was surprised for someone to say that it's broken once more.

Well, it was a known issue before the update.
I was too. Somehow it re-broke.

I used to collect glass eggs as a kid; there were some 2-3 pound ones that I still have that are made out of marble and granite. I also have a very small Coca-Cola collection that sort of fizzled out from lack of space and increasing clutter.

Oh! I also save movie ticket stubs.

I need to battle several people, so if you're online and haven't battled, let's do this.
You up for one now?
Not home right now, but I'll have a battle later.

And the article just says the kid will start hormone blockers to delay puberty.

1, I said idc if it's old. It has a potentially good debate about ages of consent for something so major.

2, yes, skirt the issue by brushing it off with just some hormone blockers. Yeah, those aren't a big deal, they only block your body's natural hormonal development.
...But the kid was diagnosed with GID by psychiatrists. I mean, I get that it's a controversial issue, but the parents and the doctors are just giving the kid the best chances at delaying irreversible changes brought on by male puberty while also not "taking his word for it" and going full speed ahead. Seems like a cautious approach to me.

And I suppose I could see your point from a medical point of view. I'm not familiar with the effects of blocking all sex hormones in a young kid, but it might cause some problems if it's done for years (but you'd have to look that up because I'm too lazy to right now).

Just to be clear, Technicolor will soon provide options to get rid of the blinding green box, and perhaps even autoexpand .webm files.
Yeah, you didn't listen...

Putting the http in the URL makes the forum think it's a link and tries to put an anchor tag in. You have to leave it out.

At least they're automatically spoilered.
i wish everything was.
I'm looking into it for Youtube, but I have to do it in such a way that it doesn't screw up the mountains of already posted youtube code.
Sticking them into a red spoiler would fuck it up?
Sounds simple, right? Let's just say the original youtube mod is a mess...
