NSFW in itself is a very subjective term and you can't really apply objectivity to it.
indeed
you contradicted yourself, by the way

cheat considers it NSFW
Yes. Unfortunately the practice of judging images is subjective. Sorry if that rustles your jimmies, but the avatar and nameplate images are going to need to remain on the safer side, since they're not able to be spoilered to guests and potential members.

Septagon / Re: is this website ever going to get https
« on: August 25, 2015, 04:43:41 PM »
That costs extra, so...

Not likely.

What about the sign in page? If that isn't secure, I'd image it would be easy for someone to hack your account no?
If you're not on a secure LAN, yeah, they could get your password.

To be clear: the rule is that avatars and nameplates must be safe for work.

Because this isn't Reddit?

Oh so is this Facebook? I'm sorry, I thought I deleted my account from Facebook.

Seriously, if there is no dislike button, why have a like button at all?
It's mostly to stop people from quoting someone and adding nothing afterward, conveying "hey, I agree with this person and want people to know, but don't want to say anything else."

It's saving post space.

The Flood / Re: An infinite-sided die is rollled infinite times
« on: August 25, 2015, 02:35:37 PM »
Geometrically, each time you add a side to a 3D object, it becomes more like a sphere. So a die with infinite sides is going to approach a ball shape, and you can't really "roll" a ball and expect a definite number to show up, much less do it infinite times.

Septagon / Re: is this website ever going to get https
« on: August 23, 2015, 10:24:00 AM »
someone explain to me the difference
a connection to a website with https is encrypted with ssl, and the identity of the server is verifiable, meaning that it's nearly impossible for a man in the middle attack to occur. (That's when an attacker intercepts your connection to the website to either sniff data like passwords or change the look of the website all together to get you to do something you shoudlnt).

edit. well I shouldn't say encrypted with ssl because it isn't actually a cipher itself and there's a bunch of different ways to encrypt traffic securely, but that's the gist of it
You're almost completely right. Bluehost charges for use of https on each domain name (I think). If we bought that feature, we could use it, but unless we also paid for someone to sign a certificate for us, that warning would pop up telling you the site was using an unsigned and unmonitored secure connection.

Damn, you could've been freeloading this whole time.
Yeah, but I've gotten messages about this "malware" from them before and after having Bluehost for a year, I'm fairly certain it's either bullshit or they have extremely lacking security on their servers, as I've not had one malware incident since switching and I use basically the same site/forum software I did on the old host.

That, and they actually asked Sep7agon to leave, so we wouldn't have been able to use it anyway.

The Flood / Fatcow: shady host or just incompetent?
« on: August 22, 2015, 10:15:00 PM »
If you guys don't already know, over a year ago a little while after we got started, Fatcow had an "alleged" DDoS attack directed at us and asked that we move somewhere else, since they couldn't support us. There's a post in News about that if you dig for it. So I immediately got a new host and dumped Fatcow, moving all my hosted sites for clients and personal projects over with Sep7agon and ending renewal options with Fatcow (basically cutting funding and letting the hosting package slowly run out).

Yeah, so that hosting package ran out some time in January or February, but apparently they are not that bright, because this email came in from them yesterday:

TItle: Load/Malware
Hello,

Your account 'mysteriousdevicecom' files were getting too many requests to the server. As a result we have temporarily suspended your website.

Additionally, a scan of your account have detected infected files. We have uploaded a file named scanlog.txt within the stats directory of your website which contains the full list of files.

- scan local computer with good antivirus, antispyware programs and clean bad programs.
- keep the software up-to-date with vendors/developers, and seek their support/forums for any known vulnerabilities/fixes/workarounds available.

Additionally, if you are using any old scripts in your website, they may enable remote attackers to exploit the outdated code in an effort to alter the contents of a specific file. Once the website is activated, please make sure that all of your scripts and open source applications are of the latest version available and include all available patches to protect against any known vulnerabilities.

To learn more about reasons for account getting hacked and the ways to prevent it, please visit the knowledge base link: http://www.fatcow.com/knowledgebase/beta/article.bml?ArticleID=2324#Nugget_5264 .

Once action has been taken, please reply to this email and we will review the account.

Sincerely,

Chanchalakshi P
Security Specialist

I did check one of my old domains that I never transferred over, and it's displaying that "disabled" page Sep7agon got when it went down the first time.

Basically this host is so dumb that they've been hosting a bunch of unused and unresolved websites for half a year without a single form of payment on my end. I think we made a wise choice in GTFO of there, mates.

Ice tea with lemon. As in, a part of a lemon is in the drink. There's no way I would have drinks with Lemon.

Bruce should go back to looking like a man to hide from the law. They wouldn't be able to find him since they would be looking or a women.
Celebrities don't stay in jail for long, from what I've seen. Even if she does get convicted, I doubt her sentence will be anywhere near as long as it would for a non-celebrity.

Or you could just remember the html and just type it out by hand -.-
It's actually BBCode. HTML is the stuff that the BBCode renders as; It's the "pure" form.

(not that it's relevant...but...)

Was it bad in an entertaining way?
It's really not. It's boring and confusing; I'd say it's just disjointed overall. The first half isn't terrible, but the second half is a rushed mess that obviously went through post-production hell.

So does this mean I can post the rest of this set?

Link is broken btw.
Uh... no, it definitely isn't.

it most certainly is.
Nope, it defiantly works.

Check the URL. It's localhost, which means it's hosted on a local hosting environment (someone's computer). Most of the time it's used as a test environment for development, but IIRC it's also used with TOR to connect to not-so-nice websites.
