Over the course of the next few hours I will be backing the site up and restoring it on the VPS. Instead of taking the site offline while this happens, I am going to open up Anarchy and let you guys keep posting as you'd like. Here are some details on what is going down and what it means for you: - Any posts made between now and when the site is moved will not transfer. Edits made, likes given, and PMs sent will all reset back to where the site was when I took the backup. As this is a large (see: huge) SMF site, this will take a few hours
- Everything will transfer over. I ran a test yesterday and avatars also seem to come over fine. Please note, though, that there is a POSSIBILITY that your avatar (if it is hosted here and not linked) could break.
- If you had an email on Sep7agon (yourname@sep7agon.net), the move will break it and you won't be able to use it. If you would still like the account, post here or PM me and I will re-add it for you.
I'll also be adding in a banner right after I post this thread and after I take the backup so you guys will know what server/version you are currently posting on. If you have any questions, you can post them here. Thanks, Supreme Leader Cheat

So I just bought a VPS for Sep7agon and will have it verified tomorrow. Once that happens, I will start the process of moving the site (I'm already downloading a test backup now). When this move happens (within the next 7 days, ideally) avatars will likely break if they are being hosted here and you will be unable to log in for several hours. Keep in mind that we have a Discord chat, a Skype chat, a Bungie Group (bleh), a Plug.dj room, and even a Facebook page, so you should be perfectly capable of not chimping out for those few hours of downtime. I'll keep you posted and put up a banner an hour before I move the site. PS: this means that very soon (in about a month, probably) Sep7agon will be SSL secured and use HTTPS to encrypt your login data.

My dad showed me this strange frame from one of his motion-sensor hunting cameras that he uses to scout for good places to shoot deer and stuff. The thing doesn't have a flash and only snaps a shot when it senses movement. I'm also including another shot that occurred a few hours later. The only thing that I have edited is the size of the picture and the name before uploading to imgur. Note the strange shape behind the deer that isn't there in the first picture... Obviously the camera doesn't move. Any ideas what the hell is happening here?

Make Sep7agon great again! We're celebrating Freedom with another Anarchy Weekend Day. Anarchy starts now and ends some time on Monday night (11th) (CST). If you're new and haven't experienced Anarchy, drop in to your nameplate page and request the Beyond the Sea nameplate to gain access to the fun. Rules are as follows: 1. No illegal stuff. 2. No semi-illegal stuff (loli porn) 3. No releasing personal info about other users — This includes anything not publicly available nor posted on Sep7agon 4. Stretching the forum body by creating an obnoxiously-long thread title 5. Jet fuel can't melt steel beams. Anything else is fair game. Breaking the above rules will get you kicked out of Anarchy. If you do something illegal, I'll also report you to the authorities, so don't be stupid.

Seems like a lot of people are showing up from B.shit these last few days and I was just curious. I love creeping on posts/pages/whatever that mentions Sep7, so...y'know.

Yup. I whipped up a simple web page with PHP and JQuery errors and gave them a test and one guy took almost 2 hours to not get past the first problem. The second guy gave up after 30 minutes and did work in other areas so he had something to show.
AMA me anything while I chuckle to myself about their failings.

Blaze gave me $20 on steam for Christmas and I'd like to spend it. What games are good that are $20 or less on steam?

Report any and all malicious ads here. If you see an advertisement that is taking over the screen, playing audio, or is in any way inhibiting you from using the forum (don't be cheeky) then please collect the following and post it here: 1. Take a screenshot. 2. Take a goddamn screenshot (seriously) 3. Record the page, time, and any details about the ad and what it was doing. 4. Follow the image instructions provided to get the ad ID. I need that to report it. If you can't read it, zoom in

They're currently circle jerking about how much better it is than B.lind. wat do? http://sapphirehrg.comEDIT: Awww. The admin has some nice things to say about Sep7. Probably the biggest shithole I've seen online outside of 4chan. I highly doubt anyone who enjoys posting here is worth asking to join Sapphire, and a lot of the people there were kicked out of Sapphire in the past for being garbage members. Activity is underwhelming compared to the massive active member count, which is an odd outlier as far as Bungie derived communities go.

Yep, I can admit that we need some fresh banners for around the forum, so I want to get some user input and opinions. This won't be happening like the last "contest" where none of the submissions were really a good fit. You may suggest images/themes/styles for the below needed banners, and I will most likely incorporate some of them. My aim is, like was suggested in #Septagon, to bring them more in line with the recent news slider fonts/styles. So please, lay your suggested images and other ideas on me. Merry Christmas, Blaze! We're celebrating God not being real with another Anarchy Weekend, like you probably expected, because I can't come up with anything original and I'm too cheap to buy any of you gifts. Anarchy starts at midnight Christmas Eve and ends at midnight on Monday (28th) (CST). Expect downtime tomorrow due to server maintenance. The email from the host is below. An upgrade to the system infrastructure is scheduled to take place in two phases on Tuesday, December 8 at 9:30pm MST. This upgrade will allow us to increase reliability and uptime for the services we provide.
Phase one includes 15-20 minutes of downtime during which your website may be temporarily unavailable to your viewers. Your website will be back online, viewable, and all interactive features will be fully functional at the beginning of phase two.
During phase two, certain portions of the Bluehost website including the login function, cPanel tools, and webmail will be unavailable. Email generated will not be lost, though you will experience some slowness while sending and receiving mail during the maintenance period.
Thanks in advance for your patience during this upgrade. We're working hard to improve the services that power your website and we understand any maintenance can be an inconvenience.

Would anyone be interested in participating in a Halo 5 doubles (or hell, even 4-player teams) tournament? Seems like it's been a while since we had a community Halo thing that didn't fall apart, so I was just curious.

Happy Halloween! We're celebrating with another Anarchy Weekend, of course. Also, it's my birthday this Sunday, so that's kind of another reason. Yes, this Anarchy is starting EARLY and most likely ending late, since I can't be staying up until midnight anymore. For reference: Anarchy usually starts at midnight on Friday and ends at midnight on Monday (CST). If you're new and haven't experienced Anarchy, drop in to your nameplate page and request the Beyond the Sea nameplate to gain access to the fun. Rules are as follows: 1. Illegal stuff. 2. Semi-illegal stuff (loli porn) 3. Releasing personal info about other users — This includes anything not publicly available nor posted on Sep7agon 4. Just a quick announcement about some staff shuffling. As Isara is completely MIA and Brute only stops by infrequently, both of them are no longer on staff in any capacity. To make up for the loss and get some extra hands for moderation of the forum, I've re-Ninja'd Icy and he will be serving on the mod squad for the foreseeable future. That's all. kthxbai
EDIT: Isara is back in and Kupo was demoted upon his request.

Ayyy. Yeah, we're back for another round of Anarchy Weekend to kick off the fall and back-to-school season. We had planned this for last weekend, but a majority of the mods couldn't be here, so we're doing it on 9/11 instead. I'm sure it'll be great. For reference: Anarchy starts at midnight tonight and ends at midnight on Monday (CST). If you do something illegal, I'll also report you to the authorities, so don't be stupid.
Also: I've added an "Anarchy Nameplate" field to your profiles. You can now set a nameplate specifically for Anarchy, and yeah, NSFW is allowed.

Ahead of the upcoming moderation poll, the Sep7agon staff would like to offer the community an open-forum to discuss their problems with anything site related - moderation style, the staff team, layout, forums, design, etc. This, along with the poll, will help to give us an idea as to what direction the site will go. Although this is an open-forum and all critique and complaints are allowed, there are a couple rules... - No attacking others, period. This is meant to be a constructive thread, not a venue to berate others who have different beliefs for the site.
- Staff members, aside from LC, Psy, and myself are asked to refrain from commenting/replying for clarity's sake.
- Try to condense everything into one post - if you can, edit in future points to that existing post so that we may have some form of organization
This thread will remain open for roughly a week. Thank you for your feedback.

Prefixes for official, spoiler, and NSFW topics have been added as a function on the forums for all members (except for the official one). To use them, when creating a topic, select the appropriate prefix from the drop down that is above the Subject line.
Note: while the rules haven't been updated, members seen abusing these prefixes and attaching them to topics that they do not apply to will be warned and/or banned. Use them as they were designed, please.

If you guys don't already know, over a year ago a little while after we got started, Fatcow had an "alleged" DDoS attack directed at us and asked that we move somewhere else, since they couldn't support us. There's a post in News about that if you dig for it. So I immediately got a new host and dumped Fatcow, moving all my hosted sites for clients and personal projects over with Sep7agon and ending renewal options with Fatcow (basically cutting funding and letting the hosting package slowly run out). Yeah, so that hosting package ran out some time in January or February, but apparently they are not that bright, because this email came in from them yesterday: TItle: Load/Malware Hello, Your account 'mysteriousdevicecom' files were getting too many requests to the server. As a result we have temporarily suspended your website. Additionally, a scan of your account have detected infected files. We have uploaded a file named scanlog.txt within the stats directory of your website which contains the full list of files. Please take necessary steps to clean up your account. You can remove the files through the File Manager in the control panel, or through FTP. Please refer the link given below to know - How to Connect using an FTP client: http://www.fatcow.com/knowledgebase/beta/article.bml?ArticleID=1393You can also refer the following link to know - How to navigate File Manager http://www.fatcow.com/knowledgebase/beta/article.bml?ArticleID=437 Alternatively, you can go for SiteLock 911 which will help you in removing any existing malware and fix any existing security vulnerabilities. To learn more about SiteLock, please go to: https://www.fatcow.com/product/sitelock If you would like to speak to one of our SiteLock support representatives, you can call at Toll Free: (800) 608-0919, International: (415) 390-2500 . Also, we have given below some suggestions to safeguard your website: - generate a strong password combination for account, FTP, database and mailboxes. - scan local computer with good antivirus, antispyware programs and clean bad programs. - keep the software up-to-date with vendors/developers, and seek their support/forums for any known vulnerabilities/fixes/workarounds available. Additionally, if you are using any old scripts in your website, they may enable remote attackers to exploit the outdated code in an effort to alter the contents of a specific file. Once the website is activated, please make sure that all of your scripts and open source applications are of the latest version available and include all available patches to protect against any known vulnerabilities. To learn more about reasons for account getting hacked and the ways to prevent it, please visit the knowledge base link: http://www.fatcow.com/knowledgebase/beta/article.bml?ArticleID=2324#Nugget_5264 . Once action has been taken, please reply to this email and we will review the account. Sincerely, Chanchalakshi P Security Specialist I did check one of my old domains that I never transferred over, and it's displaying that "disabled" page Sep7agon got when it went down the first time. Basically this host is so dumb that they've been hosting a bunch of unused and unresolved websites for half a year without a single form of payment on my end. I think we made a wise choice in GTFO of there, mates.
