Why do companies bother releasing things about video games that don't even show the games?

Still, excited to wait six years to buy this after there's a full edition released on sale with all $120 of DLC to have the full roster.

been waiting for the book to close on SFV for a while, so i'm glad we can finally move on from it—although i think the game's final season ended on a relatively high note, the fact that the game was so heavily plagued with issues from the very beginning to around the midpoint did of course end up embittering a lot of people towards the game for basically the entirety of its lifespan, and the game itself, with its simplistic mechanics and systems compared to SF4, was beginning to get stale to the point where i haven't personally loaded up the game since before the pandemic, which sucks to say, but it's been clear for a long time that we've been in dire need of a fresh start

i don't mind that we didn't get any gameplay from this teaser—that's why it's a teaser, after all—it mostly just feels good to know that the fresh start we've been waiting for is on the horizon

to comment on what little we know right now:
- That logo sucks
- Luke is corny as fuck, and I don't like him as a main character
- We are finally getting a game that takes place after Third Strike in the storyline, so we'll probably see some cool legacy characters that we never got to see in SFV while likely saying goodbye to anyone involved with Shadaloo (which, unfortunately for me, probably means RIP to my main man Balrog)

If they do bring back characters that by all rights shouldn't be there because of lore reasons, I hope they just draw a distinction between what characters actually play a role in the storyline and what characters are just there for the fans and whatnot. Just because M. Bison is dead dead doesn't mean he can't be playable—and just because he's playable doesn't mean you have to write him into the storyline, kind of like how none of the DLC characters added post-A Shadow Falls have anything to do with SFV's story mode (as far as I'm aware).

Or they could just go the maximum hack route and just bring Shadaloo and Bison back to life again.

Overall, the new collection they announced was more exciting to me, because I've always wanted to try Darkstalkers. Of course, getting  R O L L B A C K  for it is great news—if this collection has it, then SF6 will most certainly have it.

Zero chance the core SFII characters won't be in the game.  Speaking of 3S characters though, I want my husbando Dudley.  I have too small an IQ to play charge but want to into boxing for fun.

This being chronologically after 3 makes me wanna see progressed characters.  Weirdly SFV seemed to design characters as if they were older than any previous entry (Daahlsim, Bison having white hair).  That's what they should be looking like in SF6 (the men I mean, the women have to remain youthful and gorgeous for coomer costumes to still work).  Still have the Nostalgia designs for alts but go further with updating characters.  Would love Gief to be full mountain man bear wrestling or E. Honda changing up his style.

The real question though is what will the next gameplay gimmick be?  3S was parries I suppose, USFIV was Focus, SFV was V system Super Saiyan for everyone.  I kinda found V system too obtrusive compared to Focus or the parries.  Felt like it was way too big a modifier mechanic stuck into the game rather than one thing in the toolbox.

oh my god, if they actually did age up the female characters, the sheer amount of SEETHE it would produce would make me coom harder than any fanservice costume they could ever add—you just gave me a new pipe dream

as for what the next gameplay gimmick will be, i have no clue, but i do hope it's something relatively simple, but still produces a lot of emergent gameplay situations like the focus system did

less emphasis on aggressive playstyles would be nice—i like playing aggressive as much as anyone, but it felt like defensive players had to put in a lot more work to win in SFV a lot of the time

i also hope they bring back proximity normals, give backdashes some more utility, and significantly increase the number of combo routes for each character to help jazz up the gameplay—even if it means bringing one-frame links back

oh and remove throws, thanks

Have nothing constructive to say since never was into fighters and am sliding out of gaming over time.

But wouldn't aging the ladies up just attract the MILF hunters and give us a stream of content somthing like

choose your character, boys—this may or may not be the entire starting roster, but everyone's looking great, and i think they did a great job aging up the veterans without subtracting from their design in any way

with my main man Balrog out of the picture for the time being, i was thinking about picking up Chunners this time around, but i'm also curious about A.K.I.

very much appreciate the variety of body types we have on display here, especially for the new female characters

The gameplay so far looks pretty neat.  Seems like a lot of meter management which reminds me of my old DBZ games where you'd use meter for specials and for dodging and other defensive moves too.

The aesthetic looks great.  The aged up characters further along their journeys is cool.  Ryu wearing the Gouken sort of sash.  Akuma looking more and more like a Goron.  Punished Ken.  Gief is always Gief.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the Akuma and Gief gameplay.  Every character seems to have lots of tools and moves.  SFV Gief really grew on me and became maybe my favourite iteration of him in particular.  I can almost guarantee greenhand will be back.

Cummy tho.

The new artstyle still doesn't look great to me.  I've seen someone say it looks like high quality Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game and that's actually spot on.

Very nice.  I'll be picking it up in a few years once it's out of early access.

if you think SF6 looks like it's in early access now, you should've seen SF5 at launch

>1/3rd of its roster that it's going to charge you $30 annually for 3-4 years to complete
>going to get years of balance changes and updates
>going to have entire gameplay features still to be added

Yes, it and every fighting game now launch as Early Access titles, they just don't put that tag on them for whatever reason.  It is in an unfinished state.

I bought SFV at launch and it's one of the reasons I will never buy Early Access fighters again like this.  Every subsequent fighter I've waited for the complete game to launch and bought it then.

yeah, that's fair enough. SFV at least let you buy characters with grindable in-game currency, though, if you didn't want to cough up real money for them. i was able to get everyone up to season 3 without paying an extra dime (though i stopped playing after that season). it's yet to be seen if SF6 will allow you to do the same thing, but we'll know when Rashid comes out on the 24th.

If they have an in-game currency you can grind for I may buy it early, but also if Zangief is the worst character in the game, and from the info I've gathered he is, I won't be making a purchase at any point just to slug it out with a bottom tier.

soooooooo, it turns out that characters cannot be purchased with the in-game currency.
you have to pay real money for them (350 fighter coins = $7 + tax).
pretty fucking outrageous, honestly, and i definitely won't be partaking. i'll wait for them to potentially add other ways of obtaining fighter coins, or just live with having an incomplete roster i guess. which is gonna fucking suck, but oh well. really wish they didn't take this route, very disappointing

I saw that not only is it in-game Capcombucks, but also the character costs 400FC or some shit and the smallest amount you can buy is 350FC.

Also someone told me there are "Rental Fighter Tickets" you can use to "rent" a DLC fighter for 24 hours lmao

This is why I don't buy fighting games at launch since SFV.
