FUCKING NOPE. 343 Industries has left me utterly dumbfounded in their inability to recognize what many wanted. Why do they insist on departing from what made Halo good, and differentiated Halo from other shooters? What happened to dual-wielding, something that worked quite well and other shooters have dropped for some reason? If they had brought that back I might have had some faith in them.

I get it, they want you to feel like a super-soldier. The issue is, Halo was fantastic before, and these changes negatively impact the core gameplay of Halo.

What happened to Halo?

It died man. Shitty developers murdered it.

Looks that way.

I know that hating on Bungie is the "in" thing at the moment, but fuck, man, I want them back so much. They knew what they were doing.

What I liked about Halo is being stripped away piece by piece. The sense of mystery, the music, the great gameplay, and so on.

What I'm really sick of is these 343 apologists that have hopped onto the Bungie hate wagon and act like 343 is the greatest dev ever, and relentlessly praise them for Halo 2 anniversary. I do not hesitate to inform them that 343 did jack shit. That game is too good to have been made by them.

The Halo that we all loved, the Halo that became a worldwide phenomenon, that became a household name? 343 didn't make that. Bungie did.

What I don't understand is why they couldn't just leave the Halo games that revolve around the MC the same while making another series of games in the Halo universe that have all these other things in it that cater to the casual non-competitive audience. Hell they could have given Locke his own series of games with this style of gameplay or done some sort of Jovian conflict game if they wanted to go full COD.

While im liking what I am seeing I don't blame anyone who hates this already. It looks like a huge departure almost like a new IP. We still have time so don't completely lose hope JUST YET.
[/quote]

Ive been thinking the exact same thing. Have the core games play like Halo 2-3 and have side games or DLC that play like Halo 4 and Reach. I'd gladly enjoy both

EDIT: The fuck is wrong with this site I could have sworn I used Lord Whaterver his name is as a quote and not my own comment

Looks like the MCC may be the last Halo related game I ever buy if 343i continues to shove Halo down the COD road.

Sadly yeah, although would I want Bungie to make the future games now? Not necessarily. If anything, I'd want the core people that were in Bungie to create the next games.

People like Joseph Staten, Marty O Donnell, Jason Jones, Max Hoberman, Hao chen, Tyson Green, Curtis Creamer, and anyone else who I'm forgetting that was part of the original development process with the older games.

As someone who gave up on hola, bought a ps4, and has zero intention of getting 5. I'm actually mildly optimistic that 343 will do a decent job.  :D

Its quite relaxing being on the sidelines for this one.

Zoom for all weapons, including AR's.

Dual-Wielding wasn't unbalanced, at least not based on my experience.

I'm not necessarily talking about Halo 5, more so changes introduced in Halo 4 as well.

Zoom, but it has been altered to be more familiar with CoD-style players with the ADS animation. You honestly can't say there's any other good reason for them to have done that.

Dual Wielding wasn't broken, and there is 100% no problem with having it in the game. Don't want to play with DW weapons? Then use a different weapon set/place non-DW weps on the map.

Because that line worked out so well when people predicted Halo 4's gameplay, right?

Just watched some gameplay. Like, what the fuck is everybody crying about?

Spartan Abilities include
-Ground Pound
-Clamber
-Slide
-Charge
-Sprint
-Smart scope

Going by 4 and Reach, a player can only pick one of these. That's a balanced option that allows players to pick a certain play style. Those that like to play CQC and run in will take the the Pound; those that like the strafe and trick-jump will love thuster pack. 343 recognizes the different play styles and are giving players the ability to better themselves and bring a core element to team play and work

People change, Games change, things eventually go to shit.

This is why I will never sign a franchise deal with a big time publisher, because if it's super successful, they're going to milk it dry until the end of time.

I'm still keeping my own IP a secret. I've revealed it to a few people really, but I don't know if I'll ever develop it with the way things are now in the gaming world.

>PP has EMP and can deplete shields when OC'd
>Bungie could never figure out wtf to do with the Magnum after Halo 1, so you got me there m80.

And again, there can be many weapons in the game that traits can be altered in Customs/Forge. There can be a DW set and a non-DW set.

And 343 still utilizes what makes Halo, Halo: A skilled arena shooter. But at the same time they're progressing the series and adding changes here and there to give boosts to people that play a certain way

The only specific criticism I've seen in this entire thread is that there's no dual wielding. Sorry but, "DURHUR CALL OF HALO" and "DURHUR DEPATURE" aren't very compelling arguments if that's the only thing you're going to say over and over.

Indeed. Too bad the fanboys however are preventing the next video game crash.

Which we REALLY need right now to wake the entire video game industry up.

An unknown enemy that's instantly revealed. Seriously, there wasn't even any build up to it. It was just: "Oh look, a metal ball! OH LORD AN ANCIENT ENEMY".

No suspense whatsoever.

Let me reiterate that ADS/zoom in is a simple Spartan Ability, meaning not everybody will have it and those that will use it are your snipers and people who heavy rely on distant kills. It's a small boost that helps them, and nothing more major than that

Ground Pound and the other abilities play along to specific play styles. 343 has a very well-known competitive Halo player (Bravo) as an employee and I'm sure he has put in input on how to give the game a fresh feel while still having a balanced core
