We knew the world would not be the same.
A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent.
I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita.
Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty
and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says,
"Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.."
I suppose we all thought that one way or another.
Extremely dumb. What's their justification this time?

Long live NoNolesNeckin.

Ya fuckin' ganderneck.
Why shouldn't the creator be allowed to make that decision for their own videos?

We know many of you rely on community captions and thanks to the feedback we received, we’ll be covering the cost of a 6 month subscription of Amara.org for all creators who have used the Community Contribution feature for at least 3 videos in the last 60 days. These creators will receive a notification on their YouTube Studio Dashboard (News Card) in the coming weeks with more information about how to sign up for the service.

We’ve also obtained special pricing and benefits from additional third party vendors, who can assist with caption, translation, and subtitle needs. We have a list of these partners in our Help Center.
Wow, they're not even justifying it. They just want creators to start paying for caption services.

What ever happened with that

YouTube realised that giving random ass people on the internet the ability to mass flag and take down videos wasn’t the smartest idea.

Only good concept in YouTube heroes was getting points for adding captions to a video to incentivise community activity,

Remember when instead of fixing the "Reply Girls" spam issue with something like letting the creator chose or approve what video replies got shown, they just deleted the whole function?

well, part of it too was that annotations don't show up for videos on mobile devices, and the majority of people watch youtube videos on their phones now

why they couldn't have just made them work instead, i have no idea
