Get of my lawn
I am wondering this specifically about pot, but it goes for other drugs too. Why does the government get a say in what should be a private medical matter between you and your doctor?

No substance should be illegal for consumption, period. Regulations and labelling laws are essential, but if a person is willingly and knowingly putting something into their own body, it's immoral for the government to prohibit that.

Typically because there are more effective medications available that aren't just recreational drugs. There are already a few cannabinoid-based medications available, though.

Long live NoNolesNeckin.

Ya fuckin' ganderneck.
Schedule 1 drugs shouldn't be used for medicine, not until they've had proper and extensive research done with them. Pot may be be the only exception as it's had a fair amount of research done already even though it's still schedule 1. Even so, it needs more research done with it.

I've actually seen some stuff suggesting that micro-dosed LSD can have beneficial psychological effects for certain mental disorders. Of course we can't know for sure because research isn't generally allowed to be conducted with the drug as it is schedule 1.

You do understand there's a difference between medical and recreational use? I'm talking strictly about medical use. By your logic the most commonly prescribed painkillers should be banned because people are being degenerates by abusing them.

if someone understands the results of it to the fullest extent and willingly chooses to consume it anyway, then yes.

Except the kind of people who would actually inject road-flares and iodine aren't going to be intelligent enough to know what it will do to them.

So I would say absolutely anyone should be free to use it, that way we rid this planet of degenerates nice and quickly.
