It's not that simple really. I grew up being a pretty rough and tumble tomboy and I was relatively happy until I hit puberty and everything flipped on its head. I didn't understand why at the time but the hormonal spike during puberty made me distressed to the point where I turned suicidal because my body became alien and foreign, and all the changes that were happening felt wrong. As time went on it got worse and the depression got severe enough that I sought help, and I was diagnosed with Gender Identity Disorder as it used to be called.Hormone replacement therapy straightened me out.
