Would you all rather see things like maths/science threads moved from serious to the flood, or shitposts (really dire ones) being locked?
And which do you see as improving the flood more?

Example, when he first joined, Espira made a couple of threads about things like dreams iirc in the Serious board because he wanted them discussed as such.

Not bad reasoning, but that's what causes the lack of proper posts on the Flood, keeping Serious to the two types of threads leaves the Flood to grow and Serious to be a place comfortable to certain types of people like Meta.

Ethics
Philosophy
Politics
Military
Medicine*
Religion
War

*This pertains to the more serious aspects of healthcare, rather than just things like the common cold. To give three examples - Ebola crisis, Nationalised healthcare/Insurance healthcare discussions and things like suicide prevention/discussion.

I don't completely disagree, but it's the extent to which it does that I'm arguing for.
A clearer criteria of what is allowed in serious suits me fine, but I don't want to see certain topics consigned to the flood in a futile attempt to clean this place up.

Wiping up the shittiest shitposts will do that, sending the non-serious serious threads back here will but leaving stuff like science/maths threads to be posted in serious or the flood rather than slamming the door to serious on them.

To a point, yes.
Something that is 'gays did 9/11' then 't4r' is a really shitty shitpost. Yeah it might be arbitrary but it's a rather simple measure. Some people might count baneposting as shitposting, stuff like that is what I would put under subjectivity.

 

The flood is suppose to be garbage despised by the rest of the site. People forget that because for the longest time its been the only sane place on bnet.

Due to the way you've gone about serious criteria, I feel that a lot of people who post something and want a genuine discussion will probably get their stuff buried under shitposts or just get 'K.' for answers or something, if I user my own examples, it's like when I post my writing stuff and it just goes onto the second page in about ten minutes becase of spam. I guess having a semi-serious board would be cool, where proper discussion can go but the flood stays as it's shit[pos]ty self.

Or if anarchy were permanent, then have the flood as that genuine discussion board and have anarchy as the spam shit board like it is now.

Or we could just allow all serious discussion in serious regardless of the content. Which would seem like an easier and more logical solution.

All this new system will result in is more people complaining about shitposts burrying and derailing their threads in flood. Then the complainers will move on to saying we need to be more strict on shitposting (as they are in this thread). 

We already have a board for that. Its called Serious.

I don't patricularly care for shitposts one way or the other. But making it a priority to remove all of them makes my job harder and makes it harder for me to hold a good standing among the community.

'Shitposting' is such an arbitrary term. Who gets to decide on what constitutes a shitpost?
