So I finally decided to bite the bullet and watch the Star Wars series with a friend. Just saw Episode 1. Other than a couple parts I don't get the hate that the prequels get (so far). Can someone explain this to a newbie.

The fact is that Star War is best understood in release rather than chronological order. Much of the emotional impact of the series is lost otherwise, and so you've already doomed yourself to a sub-par experience as a result.

You're watching it wrong. Start with Episodes 4, 5, and 6.

Torrent the unaltered trilogy too if you can, because the alterations to the 2004 DVD and Blu Ray versions are a disservice to the original material.

I wish there was a version that actually picked up some of the good implementations that were made, which were the more subtle additions.

If it's out, that's neat. I'm not the fondest of the series.

You can only torrent it on a website that's invite only. Its an elaborate process. They make an account for you and you get to choose and download the torrent files of the versions you want. Your account gets deleted after 24 hours though, at least mine did.

If I didn't have a computer crash before I got my external I would have saved it all.

Cool way to watch it is 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6 (you could skip 1, but you already watched)

Cool reason for this is because Anakin/Vader is really the min core of this series. Doing it this way allows you to get to know who he is as Darth Vader, then find out he's Luke's father (everyone knows this, shut up), and then dive back into his past (basically flash backs) and why he TURNED evil. Then episode 6 to wrap his story all up.

Plus it helps contrast the parallels to him and Luke and how Luke sees this, and it's even that more powerful.

I didn't really think much of this order until I tried it, and it really is the best experience to do it in.

Hmm. Interesting. I can do that. Or, I can watch Rouge One a Star Wars Story first when its out on DVD and then do that.

Goodness gracious, great balls of lightning!
Skip Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones entirely. Don't even bother with both of those garbage movies.

Watch The Clone Wars series then watch Revenge of the Sith afterwards.

Then watch 4, 5, 6, and 7.

Don't do that

I know I heard it wasn't that good.

Well. The ending of Rouge One at least.

It's not that bad. I saw it a second time and once I was used to the pacing and wasn't trying to take everything in I found it to be quite enjoyable.

"Start with episodes 4, 5, 6." No offense to anyone, but I don't agree with this. That's like starting at the halfway point of a book and reading until the end then going back to the first half of the book. Just doesn't make sense to me. Well, I'm sure I'll get shit on with this opinion.

His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.

It's not one book though, it's a series. A prequel is generally a "before the story", not a new starting point. You're watching Hannibal Rising before Red Dragon.

To add, the prequels weren't even started until a decade after the original trilogy. There is nothing that you'll be lost on by watching them first. Honestly, you're missing more by watching the prequels first; they're filled with references to the OT that are going to be lost on you.
