After hours of staring at DBs, these are the things you think of. You ever done that? Hmm? You look in their eyes, even in a picture. Doesn't matter if they're dead or alive. You can still read them, and you know what you see? They welcomed it. Not at first, but right there in the last instant. It's an unmistakable relief, see, because they were afraid. And now they saw, for the very first time, how easy it was to just let go, and they saw - in that last nanosecond, they saw what they were. That you, yourself, this whole big drama, it was never anything but a jerry-rig of presumption and dumb will, and you could just let go; finally know that you didn't have to hold on so tight. To realize that all your life - all your love, all your hate, all your memory, all your pain - it was all the same thing.

It was all the same dream, a dream that you had inside a locked room. A dream about being a person. And like a lot of dreams, there's a monster at the end of it.

I swear to god it has the best monologues. Has anyone seen this incredible show? I'm only one episode away from the S1 finale.

I've heard REALLY good things about this show recently. Probably going to watch it now

One of the two main characters, Detective Cohle, is a pretty fervent anti-natalist and somewhat of a nihilist. But yeah, it's extremely well-made in all departments, I highly recommend it. I haven't even seen the finale yet, but I think that I'm going to go back and watch the first seven episodes again to see if I can figure out the mystery first. It's really gripping.

not only is Vince Vaughn impossible to take seriously, the entire atmosphere of the show changed dramatically and I'm not a fan of it at all

Yeah the u4ic monologues eventually become tiring well into s2. Pizzeria can't write dialogue that isn't fedora tipping.

S1 is great. Cohle and Hart's relationship is great as complete opposites in a love/hate buddy kind of way.
S2 is garbage though. I couldn't make it past Vince Vaughn's opening monologue in episode 1.

Nihilism may be the wrong word, but I wouldn't call him as ethically driven as you. The scene above is just 15 minutes into the first episode, and it pretty much sums up his beliefs.
