I wonder how much force that wave carried. Molasses is heavy shit and that wall at it's peak was about 25 feet high. I could see how people died in that. Either drowning in it or being physically crushed when the wave hit them and traveled over them.

I'm actually curious on the math here. It's a 25 foot wall of molasses going 35mph. Apparently the tank had about 2,300,000 galleons worth of it. That wall fucked around with the railway bridge and ripped buildings off their foundations.

Molasses is heavy shit and for it to move at 35mph took a lot of fucking force. Getting hit by that was probably basically like walking into a sledgehammer.
